By doing all of these things, did that (theoretically or realistically) get them out of trouble with the "law" or make it easier for them to TAKE KIDS FROM OTHERS get money from others, hide business dealings, etc?

BOLDED BY ME..........TAKE KIDS FROM OTHERS????? WTH???????

The subtle victim bashing on this thread is making me sick...........these people opened their home & hearts to (mainly)special needs & disabled kids & now,due to some legal documents NOBODY understands everyone is branching out, with ZERO PROOF,that these were zealous anti government /anti tax activitists (MILITA MEMBERS have been bandied about)& apparently "TAKE KIDS FROM OTHERS"...........adoption is stealing now??????????????????????

The tone of this thread has such wild conjecture & with some of our newer posters displaying some obvious (unexplained) personal bias..........I cant believe Im seeing it on my beloved websleuths...........THE BILLINGS FAMILY ARE VICTIMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your zest to 'convict' them or somehow justify their murder alot of you seem to have forgotten that!!!

We have an alarm system, video cams and multible Rotties who are teddy bears to us but no one would leave my house without missing limbs at the very least. My husband is security obsessed. We live in a very low crime town but hubby was raised in a very bad town where people were shot and killed if they were robbed and only had 35 cents on them.He has never left one door unlocked in his life. Now if what some people hint at that Mr.Billings might have had his past catch up with and all those kids I would think he would make sure the doors were locked JMO.

I live in a very safe neighborhood. My neighbors know everything that goes on. I keep my doors locked even in the day time. But my children have been known to not only not lock the back door but have left it wide open several times when we had construction going on. No one was suppose to be using that door. The Billings had an elaborate system to keep their children safe and to keep an eye on them. They had a lot of disabled children living in their very large house. It only makes sense that they would make certain all their doors were locked. I think the alarm system had to have been disabled, if they were found in their bed. If I heard my door ping after everyone was in bed, I would certainly be up and checking. With that many disabled children I would have been running, thinking someone was going out. This is all JMO.

ITA after that accident with the hot water that took of one their childrens life I bet they never left a door unlocked.

GMA reported this morning that the gang MS-13 is somehow involved.

Drug running is also thought to of been involved!

Makes me wonder who is involved that's not on the radar.....at least not on the local radar (but more on the federal radar). Sounds to me as though this is the tip of a very nasty iceberg.

I'm wondering about the possibility of an "inside" connection. It is puzzling to me the accused would attempt this type of crime without significant knowledge of the lifestyle of the Billings. (bedtimes, house layout, where a safe would be kept, the contents of a safe, possible security codes, a way to access and unlock a door, be on the property as a lookout ... this person would not draw suspicion as to why they were there if noticed...)

I really believe a close friend or employee of the family if not a famiy member indeed might be more closely involved.

Of course this is all IMO.

anyone got a presseR? its 10 am ??? nothing on the local news yet

With 3 children dying......1 OD, 1 choking, 1 of cpalsy
how much life insurance did the Billings get?

out on a limb here.........classy lady yacht........drug smuggling ring?
Drug deal gone bad? Someone cheating someone out of tons of money?
Drugs in safe? MOO.........cash free money.......just thinking out loud

ITA They were too precise too quick and could you imagine how long if ever it might have taken police to get where they are in this short time.If that video had been disabled It just might have been the perfect crime and never been solved.I am very glad they did not hurt the children but I think they were left alive because of an inside link.Maybe I am way off but JMO.

wow....amazing what some are insinuating about the victims, here.

Police have high hopes for new interviews in couple's killing

PENSACOLA, Florida (CNN) -- Police plan to interview at least two more people in the killing of a Florida couple who adopted 13 children, many of them with special needs, the lead investigator said Thursday.
Byrd and Melanie Billings did not have any children together, but they cared for 16 children over the years.

Those interviews may provide a more complete picture of the circumstances surrounding the slayings of Byrd and Melanie Billings, who were shot to death last week in their home with nine of their children present, Sheriff David Morgan of Escambia County, Florida, said on CNN's "American Morning."

"We believe -- but this case has had so many odd twists and turns -- that this may be the last piece of our puzzle," he said.

Investigators have already charged eight people in the case. One of the two they plan to interview "possibly could have a connection to the case," Morgan said. He referred to them as "persons of interest" but did not elaborate.

Morgan also clarified that the Drug Enforcement Administration was not assisting in the investigation, contrary to prior reports.

He told CNN's Anderson Cooper Wednesday night that during the course of the investigation into the Billingses' deaths, authorities had uncovered information on "other individuals and other crimes that may have been committed."

"So I have both a legal and ethical responsibility to pass that information on to the appropriate agencies," Morgan said, adding that he had invited representatives of the DEA, FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and other federal agencies to his office last week to share that information.

"I think it was somehow confused that the DEA somehow was involved in our investigation and I want to state here, that to the best of my knowledge, as the sheriff of Escambia County, that they are not," he said.
