Oh wow - that baseball quilt - that’s just fabulous imo. :D What an awesome gift.

“I made a thing!” (Nod to Clarkson’s Farm)

actually I’ve made one and working on another. Just finished trimming 336 blocks I now need to figure out how I’m going to arrange them into two quilts. My first attempt was vetoed. Tomorrow I’ll try again. First attempt was made with only blocks I had ready last night. Tonight I’ve finished, tomorrow the games begin of laying them out.
ETA the baseball quilt is for my nephew. The other two I’ll probably sell.

Oh I love them!!!! Your nephew is going to cherish that baseball quilt for the rest of his life.

That's alotta squares! I lay mine out, take a photo, study it on my iPad (bigger screen) and then solicit opinions. I like to lay a big sheet on the floor, lay my pieces on it and once I get it the way I want it, I roll it up.

Good for you for selling your wares. Do you have an online shop like Etsy or do you sell locally?
My in-laws finish them as I don’t have a machine quilter and we split the sales price. Right now they do a yearly sale up by Nebraska Kansas border in Sept or Oct. My MIL makes absolutely gorgeous quilts, mine are much much simpler. After things settle down I’m considering opening a Farm Shop. Make a small building to sell our quilts, FIL does woodworking, we make homemade salsas, jams and jellies. I have fresh duck, chicken and goose eggs and an incubator to sell hatchlings. We also bake and can sell homemade cakes and pies. My best friend crochets and is interested in selling her stuff in there as well. I’ve been researching Cottage Food laws and see what is allowed and isn’t and what I need to do to do what I want to do. . It’s all in the research phase right now, if/when things settle down I’ll see about putting it into action.

Those are such great goals! I'd love to shop at your place - a little Farm Cottage!

When I was in Maine in 2018, there were two ladies who were married to brothers. They had a neat little shop in an old house. Many of the things you describe were what they were selling also. If you create a social media account, I bet you can draw in a lot of business.

Check out this crochet work. My oldest just turned 28 and her friends had a party for her yesterday. One girl taught herself to crochet during Covid last year. Hence the cupcake crown and sawfish.

Not sure how many of you quilt but a FB quilting page told me the hack of laying out your blocks on a flannel backed vinyl table cloth and it will hold them in place. I laid this out a week ago giving it a try and rolled it up. I unrolled it today and it was almost perfect, only had to reposition 4 bottom row blocks. Saved me so much time needing to redo the block placement prior to sewing rows. Maybe everyone but me knew this but I am thrilled with the time savings.

ETA: you lay blocks on the flannel side and then the vinyl won’t stick when you roll it up.

That's a beautiful design!

Working on more quilts. Finished the previous one, laid out another one and finished a quick one that I’m not fond of but maybe a tall skinny kid would like. The red bordered one I’m not thrilled with. It works but it’s not my best work.

These are great! That pink one is so happy looking. I think the red one needs a thin black border to frame it. Maybe 1 1/2” wide.

Once I jump back into my quilting and finished the two I have in progress, then my plan is to assemble some quilt tops.

Next in person library craft. Takes a small metal ring wreath base and 30 feet of 6 inch burlap. Registration was full within a day and a half.
Man, I just lost my post! Oh, well. First craft class tonight went really well. It only took an hour and everyone really seemed to need the social part. Next class won't have to be as restricted in numbers because it's cheap to make - fabric pumpkins!

Still keeping busy by quilting. Fabric prices have really gone up and the selection in the stores has gone down. I’m doing more online shopping which is always a gamble because you don’t know exactly how it will look in person.
The blue and yellow barn raising ended up being bought by a friend of mine and the Mickey one sold already.

These are lovely! Such talent and great eye for color. Do you sell them online or locally?

I actually put sewing on my calendar for today. I’ve had too much going on lately to sew. Now to get busy…..

Locally for the most part. I posted the barn raising one on Facebook which is why the friend wanted to buy it. I keep thinking I’ll make an online shop but I just haven’t had time, with all the quilting and the animals and the job.

Oh I remember now. You all are considering a cottage shop. Sorry for the repeat question.

Wow, everyone is so talented! Beautiful quilts. Love the burlap wreaths and those funny little gnomes! Too cute. And those meds bags! You could turn that into a cottage industry, PN!

I am so happy people repurpose old furniture. Pardon me, old solid wood furniture, that you don't put together with an Allen key. I love repurposing furniture and modernizing it for current use. I am in the process of sanding and painting a mid century modern light oak highboy chest a beautiful pale pistachio green with updated gold handles. Six coats of paint (with 4 aught steel wool sanding in between coats) and I'm still not satisfied with the finish. It is therapeutic, I find. Maybe it'll never get finished! It has to be, though, since I've got a few other pieces crowding out our space. DH says I should only be allowed in the Restore Store once a month.

I am also making bracelets. I started sourcing out semi-precious stones and sterling silver beads to make bracelets for myself and for presents to ease the boredom of Covid restrictions. What started as a pastime has now turned into a little business. Everyone wants one. Even the guys. It's actually fun to make bracelets for men. I get to use the darker beads and more rustic copper and antiqued brass beads. Here's a few of my designs.

Ohhhh!!!! I want to see a pic of the cabinet!!!! It sounds like the same color I used.

I can’t remember if I ever posted my refinished buffet. In 2015 it was given to me so I sanded it down, repaired a few spots and painted it a soft green. I found knobs with world globes on them. My oldest has loudly proclaimed, to anyone that will listen, that she is inheriting the buffet. Ha!

That is beautiful! They sure don't make furniture like they used to. It makes me sad seeing all this furniture that our grandparents scrimped and saved for just to end up in a used furniture store. I have refinished lots of wooden pieces over the years. Mostly things like buffets and small chests since they are very versatile. I have a 60's oak table I paid 20 bucks for. It was kinda ugly with that yellow tinged stain but after sanding it for 5 days I jazzed it up with a pale taupe colour and it looks fabulous with my french crossback dining chairs. We sold the house but still have all the furniture.
