@JaneEyre have you done felt ornaments yet? They seem inexpensive and quick.

Not yet. But I have thought about making the traditional Swedish felt ornaments. My sisters and I made them one year, and Swedish stuff is big around here.@JaneEyre have you done felt ornaments yet? They seem inexpensive and quick.

We did something like this, too, but not at the library. I've been considering it. I think I'm definitely going to do some sort of gnome (or Swedish tomte) at some point. There are a lot of variations. I just need to see which type will be affordable.Gnomes are very trendy now. These look easy. Maybe yarn instead of twine to reduce the cost.
DIY No Sew Gnome Ornaments
Today’s sewing with scraps and 2 free towels. I have no clue why my friend gave me 2 orange towels. But apparently she knew I’d use them. LOL!
I was trying to copy my friends design of hanging towels. She used a potholder so I measured an 8” square, put them right sides together and sewed them. Turned them out, ironed them and put a loop in the opening. Then stitched all the way around. Attached them to the towels that were gathered in the middle. Sewed on a button and ta da!
My oven looks like it’s wearing skirts. Ha! My girls love my little hanging towels. So these will go to them since it’s the leaf fabric.
I had to watch a video to understand what wet felting is. I had never heard of it before. I’m curious to see what you make!!I've been reviewing several wet felting diy-vids on YT... I want to try making a beanie or a reversible neck scarf. I might pick up some wool roving this weekend and see what happens.
I ran a rescue for 20 years. What you do, these blankets, make a difference!I don't know how I'm just now seeing this thread but I can't wait to go back and read through all the ideas!
Crocheting is the main craft that I do. These granny square blankets were part of the last batch I made for the animal shelter. I volunteer with an organization called Comfort For Critters that provides blankets to animal shelters across the US. We have shelters in all 50 states that we support! If anyone is interested in getting involved with it, all you really need to do is check the website and find a shelter near you to drop off at or ship to. The website has a little memo you can print off to take with your blankets too. Crocheted, knitted and fleece (either sewn or the hand tied type) are accepted!
Also I love helping and can help anyone who wants to get started with crocheting! YouTube videos have been so helpful for me to learn different stitches or refresh if I take a break too long and forget how to do something. There are some great tutorials though
It's definitely been something that's given me a sense of purpose and allowed me to also decompress from pandemic stress

Side note - I'm thinking about making an ornament wreath for our front door so I'll share here if I do!
They are so adorable!!!Ok, @Tbone144 - I came up with affordable gnomes to make for the January class. One sock, a bit of rice, poly-fil, a piece of pantyhose, and some chunky yarn.
I love to hear that <3I ran a rescue for 20 years. What you do, these blankets, make a difference!
In 2019 I started on a quilt / wall hanging for myself. It has teapots and I’m a tea person. It was a new pattern I’d never done and I struggled. I actually wrote to the designer and asked her to help me understand the instructions. She was so kind and helped me.
I decided to use the Quilt As Yo Go method. I assembled the squares and quilted them individually. Then I set it aside for 2 years. Today I pulled it out and put the 9 center squares together. The back seams are still open. I’ll fold them in and hand sew them closed. Next is to get the batting on the binding and quilt it. Once that is done, I can attach it to the center.
