Criminal Defense Attorney for Casey - Linda Kenney Baden

I've got $50 that says Jose painted *quite* a different picture to get her on board originally.

Surprise, surprise, surprise........

Earth to Linda: Don't let Baez manage the money.

I agree.
Baez paid himself yet never even paid Baden whatever money was stipulated in the Retainer Agreement that she later rescinded. My guess, probably rescinded right before the Hearing to declare Casey indigent.

She noted that the defense team must comply with Justice Administration Commission rules in this case.

"As out of state counsel I have been traveling to Florida and elsewhere to properly represent Ms. Anthony," she wrote in her motion. But, she added, it is her "understanding that the JAC prohibits payment of such costs to out of state attorneys even though they have rendered and are rendering their services free of charge."

Kenney Baden goes on to say she cannot continue representing Casey Anthony "in the absence of substantial funds to cover the costs of travel and reimbursement for expenses, which she anticipates will increase as trial approaches…"

She added that like Andrea Lyon, who also withdrew from the case as an out of state counsel earlier this year, she has worked hundreds of hours on the case.

"I believe in the client's innocence to the charges and do not wish personally or professionally to withdraw from this case," she wrote. "Nonetheless, because the state of Florida fails to reimburse out of state pro bono attorneys for expenses, I am forced to make this application…"

She says she cannot represent Casey Anthony "from afar without the necessary interactions and appearances in Florida."

If the attorneys are on this case pro bono, why are the traveling expenses their reasons for withdrawing?? I wonder if this is really something else disguised under this ruse...JMHO

Justice for Caylee

It appears as though "pro bono" translates from Legalese to Common English as "you pay for my high livin' lifestyle and I'll throw in a couple hours of work for free."

One down, one more to go, IMO. I'd like to see Mason go into retirement full time because his style just gets on my nerves and his marble mouth mumbles make it difficult for me to understand a majority of what he is saying.

I have great respect for the state of Fla and Judge Perry for doing everything in their power to not let this case get out of control.

PLUS, why would she need to stay on if JB and CM plan to NOT take this to trial and try and get KC a deal. This may be why LKB waited so long to bail. JB and CM did fly to NYC to have a meeting with her. Apparently there is no longer any need for her services. Her statements appear to grandstanding, getting in the last word, placing the blame on someone else (typical KC defense tactic) because she can. jmo

Didn't Ms KB realize, when she first agreed to represent KC Pro Bono that she was going to have to fly to Florida each time in order to do so? :innocent:
Feeble excuse..

IMO, LKB has realized all of the above, and her statement to the media was merely professionalism sprinkled with BS. She's realized the futility of this case, cut her losses and attempted to bow out gracefully, just like the rest of them.

Have been waiting for this to happen for some time. Want to take bets on who will be the next to walk away? Thoughts?

I'm thinking that C Mason can't handle all the "fun" as of late. His busy semi-retirement schedule, with his other high profile case in the spotlight will be his excuse. Coming soon....... ( Just if I'm placing a bet and all )

One question I have: on the Channel 13 site regarding LKB's departure it says she "will remain as a consultant and appear periodically". If money is her issue, she isn't going to get paid for her consulting nor her appearances, so how does her reason for her departure make sense?
Am I missing something?
For some reason, cannot get the link to attach!

I think it's 13!! Lol. How is this defensible in any way? It is SO obvious these people are wanting fame and blood money

I agree, however, there *is* a God, and if you don't believe in God, believe in karma. The only fame they're getting is 'wow. wasn't she involved in the defense of Casey Anthony and was that the most incompetent defense in the history of the world, and I thought she was so good. Guess not' and she gots no blood money, rather she's out of pocket thousands of dollars.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Mason *can* leave. He's the only death qualified lawyer, right? Da Judge won't release him. He'll have to have fun right up to the bitter end.

Blaise (right?)

I think Ann Finnell is death qualified.

The last time LKB was in Florida was with the rest of the defense team to examine the Pontiac under the watchful eyes of the state. JB made not one comment about THAT inspection publicly. He did however, start whining immediately about the taped calls he had with an inmate. One of many of JB's deflection tactics.

This in my opinion is when LKB made the decision she was leaving the case. Had the defense team found one piece of evidence in their favor, the media would have been notified immediately.

LKB will make money off this; she will be an analyst during the trial one way or another.

I think that Dr. Henry Lee will be the next one to stage left ~ That crate of oranges can't last forever.

Yes she is positively death qualified:

snipped from above:

Personally, I don't know Ann Finnell but I've heard lots of great things about her -- she's known to be a fighter, a true believer, and a very good death penalty attorney. As the first death-qualified attorney on the Casey Anthony case, I do know a bit about the representation that Ms. Finnell has just undertaken, however.

On another thread, again I hate to quote myself...
:blushing: Oopsy Poo...Hate to quote myself, but the "defense" HAS spoken, even though no words....This is what I hear,
clear across the country...

MAYDAY, MAYDAY...THE SHIP IS SINKING, ABANDON SHIP,
ABANDON SHIP, THE SHIP IS SINKING!!!!!
PLEAD HER OUT, BOZO!!!

PS - My goal in life was to become a prosecutor, and specialize in child abuse/murder My cross to administer :viking:.

Because of WS, I am now going to become a PI/Same mission, less restrictions. Just a FYI - to become a PI in CA, I will have to attend/and pass a Police/CHP academy...That is the licensing requirement here. Can I? - I am 50...

Haven't read anyones comments yet, but I'm not surprised by this recent development. We all knew it was coming.
In the beginning all these slugs saw were $$ signs. Now that the well has dried up they're scattering like the roaches they are. Nobody wants to represent the scum known as casey anthony unless there's substantial money involved. They could care less about her.

I just hope this doesn't cause any set backs or delays. That's the last thing this case needs.

And how come I have this image in my head of josebegood playing with a ball of string, getting distracted by a shiny object, or playing with his box of crayons and color coded sheets... completely unphased by it all? The guy thinks he can take on the world but his ego wont allow him to see that he's WAY out of his league and he WILL lose this case.

I like and am going to "go" with Bill Scheaffer's statement yesterday, which was;

In his analysis, Scheaffer said,"We've seen a number of attorneys who have been involved in this case who have advanced some personal interest of their own in representing Casey, that after exhausting that, have left the case."

The End for LBK.
