EAST HARTFORD A probate judge has removed Candace Bednarz as administrator of her mother's estate.
Bednarz's brother Brett is charged with killing their mother, Beverly Therrien, 74. Therrien was bludgeoned to death on Thanksgiving 2010 along with two friends, Pamela Johns, 60, and Michael Ramsey, 53, at her home at 105 Naomi Drive.
Brett Bednarz has been charged with three counts of murder, capital felony and other charges. Candace Bednarz was appointed administrator of Therrien's estate five months after the murders. She was arrested April 19 on charges of hindering prosecution and tampering with evidence after police said she had in her possession the cellphones of two of the victims.
In the warrant for her arrest, police also described a series of financial transactions that raised questions about her handling of Therrien's estate, prompting East Hartford Probate Judge Alan Driscoll to move to remove Candace Bednarz as fiduciary. Driscoll subsequently withdrew from the case and Manchester Probate Judge Michael Darby is now handling the matter.
