I can't tell you how many fruitless hours I've spent pouring over old articles in the various states that she called and lived in and passed through, looking for an article about a missing person that might match. I am so glad that Othram is taking this on -- I am dying to know the answer.

I originally brought this to the police attention. I feel like she is Helen Clair Frost missing out of Canada. Have you attempted to contact her sister or daughter for potential DNA match?

My experience is if the RCMP feels this is a match, they will work across the border with investigators here. This was done with Marcia King's case, when it was thgought she might be Patricia Salamandyk from Alberta. They have different protocols, so it took about 2-3 years to rule her out.

Last I knew, Canada didn't have a DNA database like CODIS. They'd only gather it from families if there was as strong suspicion it may match a specific set of remains. This was supposed to change, but I don't know if has.
 
just happened upon this case, read through it over a few intense days- you are all pretty amazing. looking forward to seeing how this case turns out. there is something really captivating about this jane doe and i am hooked!

also, FWIW, i think Connie Enright (The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)) might be worth looking into once you have the DNA from "Lorraine". there are a lot of boxes checked, but i believe Connie was dismissed years ago because there was no DNA for her on file. Maybe a family match will be enough.

Timing: CE went missing on April 24, 1969, jane doe was killed in CT on 12/31/70
Age: CE was 18, jane doe was estimated 18-30
Height: CE was 5'2, jane doe was estimated 5'2
Weight: CE weight about 115lbs, jane doe weighed about 110-115 lbs. according to media reports
Hair: CE had strawberry blonde hair, jane doe had brownish red hair according to media reports

According to Doe Network, Connie has DNA available.
I don't think Connie was dismissed per se, just that there's no way to rule her out because their identifiers don't match. Because of their similarities, I submitted Connie, anyway, a couple years ago as a potential match for this Jane Doe so she would be on someone's radar, knowing they couldn't be compared at that time. Once Othram has a sufficient DNA profile for this set of remains, it will be compared with Connie and others in CODIS. If nothing shakes out, then they would proceed with genetic genealogy. That's how I interpreted their reply to me about the process.

ah, i didnt see any mention of DNA on Namus and remembered several years ago someone here saying there was no DNA! thanks for the info!

No worries. NamUs removed identifiers from the case files years ago, but Doe Network still has them.
It's this set of remains which didn't have DNA, swhich is what Othram is working on.
