PRESS RELEASE

As the investigation into the homicide of Christine Holloway and disappearance of Vanessa Morales enters its third week, the Ansonia Police Department is again requesting the public’s assistance in the investigation. The suspect in both the homicide of Christine and disappearance of Vanessa is Jose Morales, age 43, of New Haven. Jose Morales is the father of Vanessa Morales and the boyfriend of Christine Holloway. Jose is currently incarcerated and has been since December 3, 2019. Finding Vanessa and bringing her home safely is our main priority. We are not looking to arrest or start criminal proceedings against whoever has Vanessa; we just want her returned to her family. It is imperative that we find Vanessa, a one-year old child who is wholly dependent on others for her care and well-being and we know locating Vanessa would bring a sense of relief to her family.

Anyone who had contact or saw Jose Morales on Saturday November 30, Sunday December 1, or Monday December 2, is asked to contact the FBI tip line at 203-503-5555 or the Ansonia Police Department at 203-735-1885 or through Tip411.

Investigators find bloody clothes in Ansonia murder, missing baby cases

Police investigators have found bloody clothes and rags connected to the murder of an Ansonia woman, but law enforcement sources said there’s nothing that explains what happened to her missing 1-year-old daughter.

Several recovered items have been sent to the state police forensic laboratory for DNA analysis, law enforcement sources said. It is unclear where or when the bloody clothes were discovered.

[..]

“We believe that Vanessa is alive, we have no information to the contrary,” Ansonia police Lt. Patrick Lynch said. “That’s what our driving force is, when you see thing like that that are missing that are used in caring for a child. That gives us the impetus that she’s still out there and she’s with someone and we want to bring her home safely.”

[..]

Ansonia police have labeled Vanessa’s father, 43-year-old Jose Morales, the primary suspect in her disappearance and her mother’s death.

“We can definitively say that Jose Morales was the last person that we can say was with Christine and Vanessa,” Lynch said. Police declined to say when Morales was with them last.

Ansonia Police searching area where discarded child seat was found as investigation of missing 1-year-old continues

Posted 4:32 PM, December 25, 2019, by Associated Press

ANSONIA — Connecticut police have been searching for evidence in the case of missing 1-year-old Vanessa Morales.

Hearst Connecticut Media reports they’re focusing on the area where a discarded child’s car seat was recently found.

Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch confirmed to Hearst Connecticut Media that investigators were sent Monday to a BJ’s Wholesale Club.

That’s where a car seat similar to one police asked the public to look out for.

Ansonia police believe missing 1-year-old is alive

And, Lynch adds, investigators still believe Vanessa, who has not been seen by family or friends since Friday, November 29, is still alive.

“Based on the information that we’ve gotten and the evidence that we’ve recovered, our working theory is that she is with someone,” Lynch said. [bbm]

Last week, the FBI announced a $10,000 reward that would be given to anyone, who either has little Vanessa in their possession and turns her in good health or provides information that leads to her safe return.

So has a potential money motivation resulted in greater lead generation?

“I couldn’t say that yes or no it made a difference,” Lynch said. “It’s another factor in trying to get whoever has her to come forward.”

Ansonia Police continue to maintain they are not interested in prosecuting anyone who has baby Vanessa.

[..]

Even since he’s been in jail police say Jose Morales continues to cooperate with them.
