Casey Anthony civil trial must go on before bankruptcy case
By Amanda Evans, Reporter

excerpts:

ORLANDO --
Casey Anthony will have to head back to civil court after a bankruptcy judge ruled Tuesday that a jury needs to decide if she ruined the reputations of Zenaida Gonzalez and meter reader Roy Kronk.

Attorneys for Zenaida Gonzalez said they are now working to get a new trial date set.

Casey Anthony's civil trial was put on hold when she filed for bankruptcy in January. But at a hearing Tuesday, a bankruptcy judge said the case needs to get figured out in civil court first, to see if there even is a case for bankruptcy.

That appeal is expected to run out sometime in the next six months. Once it does, Casey Anthony will no longer be protected by that option.

Attorney John Dill, representing Gonzalez, said their No. 1 goal is to get Casey to talk.
"We'd like to get her to tell the truth," said Dill. "I know that seems to be a challenge to get her to sit down and answer our questions, but that's our goal: To have her testify as to what happened. Why did she single out our client? Why did she do this to our client? That's why we want to have a trial, and that's why we want to have her testify, and that's what's going to happen."

Gonzalez's attorneys said their goal is to have a trial date set by October.

But Casey Anthony said she has no money. That's why she filed for bankruptcy. If Casey has some form of income, like a book deal, by the time the trial happens, some of that money could end up going to Gonzalez.

Casey Anthony judge felt 'shock, disbelief' at not-guilty verdict

Judge Belvin Perry, who presided over the case, said the Florida mother was "very manipulative."

"There were two sides to Casey Anthony," he told Savannah Guthrie on TODAY Monday in an exclusive interview. "There was the side that was before the jury, where she portrayed the role of a mother who had lost a child, someone who was wrongfully accused, and then you could notice the change and transformation in her when the jury went out.

"She was very commanding, she took charge of different things, and you could see her sometimes scolding her attorneys."
