How will the long-running Casey Anthony story fare in sweeps month?
WKMG-Channel 6 will find out soon: The CBS affiliate will offer a series on the mother of missing Caylee Anthony. The first two reports will air at 11 p.m. Thursday and Friday. By the way, Thursday is the start of the sweeps ratings period.
Even if you've heard enough, keep in mind that Tony Pipitone is the reporter, and he's one of the best in the market.
Pipitone said the series will look at the timeline, starting just before Caylee went missing and going forward. He traces where Casey' Anthony's cell phone was, longitude and latitude, for 45 days. "We follow the pings," Pipitone told me.
The series looks at the people Casey Anthony was talking to and what she was texting.
"We analyze her movements, her activities, her associations and her state of mind," Pipitone said.
There will be two more reports next week in the series and possibly more. Pipitone has been working on the series for the last month.
WKMG General Manager Henry Maldonado said, "Tony has the ability to go back in the story and find elements that have not been reported and give insights into what was happening at the time. He has new information within familiar territory."
And what does Maldonado say to viewers who are sick of this story?
"It will be told in a Tony Pipitone way. It has compelling narrative," he said.
Because it's Pipitone, it will be worth a look.
It should be available after 11 p.m. Thursday at local6.com.
