David Bowie...oh RIP beautiful man. I am gutted. I think the passing of David, among others is reminding me of my reckless youth that fled in the blink of an eye, it seems. I shouldn't be this sad, but I am. Drinking wine and listening to old Bowie tunes. What a huge loss, for me, for us, for his family, for the world.

Turn and face the strain...

I just woke up to this, Life on Mars was the first record that I bought. He made me a music nerd and provided the soundtrack to my life. Now he shares a date of death with my baby son (many years ago)
Theres a starman waiting in the sky...

"Look out you rock and rollers." This could make me do a back floor boogie across the room any old day. (Truth be told, many a day. :shush:)

Shocking news to wake up to ...
RIP David.

Blessings to his family.

Off topic, but not exactly, listened in perspective -- James Carroll Booker salutes Major Tom. Not really, but just listen.

RIP

Just waking up to this sad, sad, news.

Only this weekend, Mr. Bee and I were watching Pennebaker's doc "Spiders", and my hubs turned to me and said "You know, this was the first album I ever bought? I listened to it over and over."

And, as well as I know my husband, I did NOT know that. It was kind of neat to learn something new about someone you thought you knew everything about. Especially something so cool. We watched the movie and talked about Bowie and then today.....:(

My heart is sad. RIP, David and lovely Ziggy.

This has really taken the wind out of me. Dammit.

RIP DB

On my 12th Birthday my family shared a table with David Bowies Mum and Aunt, at a carvery just outside Stamford Bridge. They told us stories, it was so exciting, I was 12, it was 1983 I thought DB was da bomb!! But we we're never sure if we just sat with 2 crazy old ladies lol Or if it really was his Mum. Until a couple of years ago, when his Aunt celebrated her 104th Birthday. Our local paper had a big story, she still lived in my city, and it turns out around the time I was 12, his Aunt lived short of 2 miles from the pub we ate at.

True story

Yes, very sad news. R.I.P. David. One of the five biggest rock acts of all time along with the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Elvis Presley and Bob Dylan.

David Bowie Dies at 69; He Transcended Music, Art and Fashion

Mr. Bowie wrote songs, above all, about being an outsider: an alien, a misfit, a sexual adventurer, a faraway astronaut. His music was always a mutable blend: rock, cabaret, jazz and what he called “plastic soul,” but it was suffused with genuine soul. He also captured the drama and longing of everyday life, enough to give him No. 1 pop hits like “Let’s Dance.”

If he had an anthem, it was “Changes,” from his 1971 album “Hunky Dory,” which proclaimed:

“Turn and face the strange / Ch-ch-changes / Oh look out now you rock and rollers / Pretty soon now you’re gonna get older.”
