Dateline reached out to the Metropolitan Police Department for an update on where Chyna’s case stands, but has not yet heard back.

The second search was on Saturday, November 4. “Both times we did searches, we had a good amount of people that came out. So we did have a lot of support and love from a lot of people,” Keya said. “People that we don’t know from other states have showed their support. People then came out with their kids and came out and assisted us.”

According to Keya, nothing was found on that search, either. She told Dateline that she is grateful for the help and is currently trying to plan more searches. She is concerned that the weather is getting colder. “It’s getting cold, I’m worried about her well-being,” Keya told Dateline. “I can’t eat because I’m thinking about, ‘Have she ate?’ I can’t sleep because I’m thinking about, ‘Have she had the chance to sleep?’”

Not the news we wanted but at least her family will have some closure. I did check the original court records for Chyna's arrest as a teen involved with a robbery group, but this woman wasn't listed as being one of her friends in that group. Given her age at the time, likely unrelated, but I did check. My thoughts go out to her family.

Great news to see movement in this case. But where are the details? How is this woman related to her disappearance and murder?

I looked back at Chyna's arrest in her late teens since it was part of an armed robbery planned by a group of people but none of them (link to the article and records on that arrest are in this thread) were the name of the person indicted in her felony murder. But based on a past history with people involved in robberies, I would be surprised personally, if this was random. I hope her family will see justice.

Someone has been charged with Chyna Crawford's murder. One year later, the DC woman remains missing

Chyna Crawford disappeared last October. Lashawn Washington is charged with her murder and remains in jail without bond, awaiting trial.

It has been one year since Chyna Crawford vanished.

Crawford is presumed dead, and despite the murder charge, her remains still have not been found. Her family says they want to bring her home to give her a proper burial.

"Where's the body? That's all we're asking for so that her mother and her father and the family can come together and do what we need to do for my niece," said Arrington.

Washington pleaded not guilty to the charges in connection with the case earlier this year. Her trial is set to begin next October.

Details of Disappearance​

Crawford was last seen in the 1600 block of Good Hope Road Southeast in Washington D.C. on October 23, 2023. She spoke to her mother on the phone that day and made plans to meet that weekend. That day, Crawford was supposed to go shopping with a friend, but she never showed up and her friend wasn't able to reach her by phone.

For several days Crawford's family attempted to get in touch with her with calls and messages, but got no response. His mother tried to find her phone with the Find My iPhone app, but the phone was turned off and could not be located. Her family asked the police to do a welfare check on her apartment, and when the police went there, Crawford wasn't there and nothing appeared to be amiss.

Crawford has never been heard from again. Her vehicle, a gray 2012 Mercedes Benz CLs550 with the temporary Virginia license plate number 998859V, went missing with her; a photo of it is posted with this case summary. According to her family, she was never involved with drugs and was always in daily touch with her mother prior to her disappearance. Her boyfriend isn't considered a suspect in her case, as he was in jail at the time of her disappearance.

In March 2024 a suspect, Lashawn "Tweety" Washington, was charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping and obstruction of justice in Crawford's case. Authorities have not said what evidence they have against Washington, but stated she and others kidnapped Crawford with the intention of robbing her of her money and property and ultimately killed her. Washington has pleaded not guilty and is awaiting trial.

Crawford has never been located, but foul play is suspected in her case due to the circumstances involved.
