"Chutkan confirms with Lauro that what they want is to first brief whether the VP Pence stuff is covered by immunity, and then get to everything else. Lauro says yes, that's what SCOTUS called for in writing and I'm an originalist. Chutkan raises her eyebrows as he says that. She says, you may be an originalist but I'm a trial judge"

"If Trump’s trial continues to proceed like it has on Thursday, then the former president and convicted felon is going to have a tough time. We may have a long and brutal federal trial coming soon."

Judge Chutkan Repeatedly Shuts Down Trump Lawyers in Brutal Hearing

The federal election interference case against Donald Trump inched forward Thursday, with a judge permitting prosecutors to file court documents later this month that could detail unflattering allegations about the former president as the Republican nominee enters the final weeks of his White House run.

The order came hours after a court hearing, the first in the case in nearly a year

By day’s end, she permitted prosecutors to file by Sept. 26 a legal brief that could include fresh details about Trump’s failed efforts to cling to power four years ago.
The filing is expected to include detailed allegations from the investigation, said Thomas Windom, a member of Smith’s team.

“The defense can move comprehensively, quickly and well. So can we,” Thomas Windom said.

CNN September 5, 2024 online article by Katelyn Polantz and Tierney Sneed entitled ‘Evidence in January 6 case against Trump could be released before election under new schedule’:

Of particular note in the federal election subversion case IIUC, is that Judge Tanya Chutkan has set a trial schedule in the case against Donald Trump that would allow prosecutors to release evidence not previously released (e.g. grand jury transcripts) ahead of the presidential election in November. The schedule also allows time for certain aspects of immunity to be addressed. MOO
