Basically what they are saying is that the remains don't match any of the people they know to be missing and have adequate records available to match against (dental, DNA etc). That means they will have to do the identification in the old fashioned foot slogging way rather than through technology (at least until they find a potential candidate to match against).

So, it is probably a John/Jane Doe.

Or they simply dont want to release they know precisely whose remains it is at this time for whatever reason.

That big ol' thanks post is strangely sounding of farewell, goodbye, thanks to all you big-wigs who've aided along the way in the search for Hailey.. idk..jmo, tho

My personal opinion is some of those "big-wigs" havent helped at all and instead have just made things more complicated and thats not including some of the weird hanger ons that they have with them.

I guess I need to get rid of this cheap computer. It must be only providing me with the 'readers digest' version of this article. I sure don't see where you were able to glean your info. Maybe, as mentioned earlier, they just haven't gotaroundtoit.

Am I mistaken or does that broadly imply that the remains are not Haleys? They have her DNA profile correct? It seems to me like it takes less time than this to get an ID when they already have the missing persons DNA? When Caylee was found did we not have the identification confirmed in under a week? I might be totally mistaken about this, which is why i am asking......but it seems to me as if with a DNA profile the identification should be much quicker.

I just think they dont want to give too much away yet if it is Hailey

For the above to be true, they would have already had to obtain DNA from the UID. What the article means, is it could take weeks to months to obtain a viable dna sequence from the remains found to compare to missing persons.

People should not be confused that this article means dna was obtained and compared to all MP's without a match.

DNA has not yet been obtained from this UID to be compared to any missing person.

I am not seeing where they say DNA has not yet been obtained for comparison purposes?

No, they haven't, but those of us who frequent the UID forum know on average families are given a time period of 2-3 months for an initial comparison and most of us have never seen it done in that short of time. Usually it can be upwards of a year.

Anna Waters mom, who posts here as Annasmom, has been waiting for a comparison to her daughter since January of 2012.

The article states:

Asked when such information could be forthcoming, she said, “Please keep in mind that the initial guidance was that it could take weeks to months for an identification to be made.”

These remains were sent to a private lab versus a state lab. When sent to a private lab, everyone (LE, family etc.) is at the mercy of the private labs with tremendous backlog. It would not surprise me if it takes 2-8 mo's or so for an official rule in or rule out, and that would be in a timely fashion in comparison to other UID's waiting for comparisons to MP's.

Billie claimed in the news that it was being identified via dental remains so wouldn't that be quicker?

I'm not too concerned with the most recent comments from the ME office. The "weeks or months" estimate is just the standard put-off that they give media to keep them off their back. They may have some results already or they might have it tomorrow. Either way they aren't going to go public with it until they can't put it off any longer or are ready to start bringing suspects back in for interrogation.

With older remains, just developing a large enough sample to test can sometimes take several months of repeated procedures (one of the more reliable processes takes three weeks to run, I believe).

Dentals are quicker, but dentals can't be used in this case for comparison. I forget why. If she had no restorations of any kind it's not useful and I don't know that the UID had all of it's teeth.

LE or a spokesperson stated they had to go with DNA for a comparison to Hailey.

I agree regarding the standard "put-off". I don't even know why they bother offering a time frame when it never ever happens that results come in during the time frame given.

AND Billie said Hailey had never been to the dentist

AND Billie said there was only 1 picture (xray) of Haileys mouth.

Hailey had never been to the dentist? I thought Billie said there was one dental x-ray but on the wrong side. OK, I see that on your list above. LOL. Also, wouldn't Billie need to go to the dentist to get a prescription for antibiotics for her toothache that she mentioned on Nancy Grace (unless doctors prescribe them instead of dentists). She coupled that with some hydrocodone painkillers on Monday December 27th. When would she have gotten the antibiotics for this toothache anyway? Dental issues during the holiday season are a drag since most dental offices are closed. JMO Sorry for the O/T

Didn't she get them from her mom?

What we know is that she made two withdrawals from the ATM. According to her in the affidavit she then bought drugs. We know that she went to her moms that night and that her mom has convictions for selling drugs ( she just finished a 1yr sentence). Strange thing is if Billie needed pain relief considering she worked in a hospital why not get it from there before she finished work? and why if her daughter had pain why not just give her one or two painkillers? why did she need money to buy some "drugs"?

Here's something to think about.....More than likely the remains were sent to Dallas for testing. We have very few testing facilities that cover a HUGE portion of Texas. Dallas is over 3 hours away from Snyder. Also take into account the size of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and there has to be a HUGE backlog. Plus, Dallas is having to deal with the deaths of not one but 2 DA's very recently. As much as we would like, these bones are NOT priority right now.
