From late November, "Why does a son or daughter kill a parent?" http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/2015/11/28/why-does-a-son-or-daughter-kill-a-parent.html
Hmmm, seems like DM is the stereotypical parent killer.

Kathleen Heide splits them all into four groups:
- Severely abused offender
- Severely mentally ill offender
- Dangerously anti-social offender (DM?)
- Enraged parricide offender
A 2007 study out of Quebec provides perhaps the most comprehensive examination of the phenomenon in Canada. Researchers pored over Quebec coroner’s reports between 1990 and 2005 and identified 64 cases.
Led by forensic psychiatry expert Dominique Bourget, the research found sons were by far the most frequent perpetrators of parricide, accused in 93 per cent of the deaths. The study also found offenders were often single and under 30. The murder is typically committed in the victim’s house, where the offender was often also living, according to the study, published in The Journal of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law.

Insp. George Koekkoek, head of Peel’s homicide unit, says these cases involve “tricky dynamics.” Sometimes grieving family members are the primary witnesses, who have seen something extremely upsetting. They may be dealing with a range of emotions, including guilt.
“They are wondering: 'Did I miss something here?'” Koekkoek said.
Family members may also be reluctant to provide information that could aid in the prosecution of a family member, deciding that, since they already lost one loved one, they don’t want to lose another to prison.
