Sorry if this has already been asked but what time does sentencing start on Monday local Arizona time? I can't seem to find it online.

I just want to say that I hope you all have a nice weekend whatever you are up to. I know this will be difficult given the sentencing on Monday. I admire every single one of you for your dedication to Travis and I hope she gets the maximum time in jail she can possibly get without parole. Travis's family, friends and supporters are in my prayers this weekend.

Off topic the summations begin in the trial against Pedro Hernandez who is accused of killing Etan Patz on Monday also. It may go to the Jury next week as well. Its a very difficult and tragic case also. Please feel free to join me on Etan's trial thread with any thoughts or news.

@JodiAnnArias: Legal team has advised #JodiArias that biased JSS WILL give natural life. Jodi has no delusions re:sentencing and is fully prepared.

Oh brother, starting already!! Truth is the murderer is scared to death of going to PV

Poor impulse control, lack of social skills, behavioral issues, not an Einstein. Jodi thought she had ADD, but I wonder if she is in the autism spectrum.

Yowza! Definitely not on the autism spectrum, IMO. Jodi actually has good social skills when she wants to—she got the attention of lots of men—and uses a lot of verbal manipulation, not to mention sexual manipulation.

Jodi has a personality disorder, not a developmental quirk. her personality disorder would likely have shown up at a young age. See this article http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/13/magazine/can-you-call-a-9-year-old-a-psychopath.html?_r=0 This article is very helpful for insights into Jodi's behavior.

Folks on the autism spectrum, AFAIK, if they are reasonably verbal, would find it impossible to be manipulative. They have the opposite problem! They tend to be hopelessly undiplomatic, have trouble flirting, often don't catch verbal cues. They miss all kinds of things in the communication process. They can seem quirky (Jodi is not at all quirky). They can be this way even if their verbal aptitude is off the charts (some Aspies would test way higher than Jodi). If you've ever heard a wordy Aspie (Asperger's, on the autism spectrum) talk, it would be very quickly obvious that Jodi does not fit the bill. You can get the feeling with an Aspie that "this isn't quite normal and kind of odd" when they speak. With Jodi you get "this isn't quite normal 'cos it's malevolent."

Mmmmm....they're trying to say "Jodi is normally delusional but not in this instance on this issue"? So glad they're on to her.

Lol, they meant to say "illusions" and not "delusions"?

Let's clarify this usage:

Jodi has illusions of grandeur, when in reality she's a Perryville Princess. True. In no time, she will look like a [Perryville] princess and smell like a [Perryville] princess.

Nurmi has illusions of being the new Martinez: the size is all wrong, for starters. True.

Willmott has illusions of being the new Martinez: it'll take a few more years of law school and major brain surgery. True.

MDLR has illusions of being a cougar and luscious, licious, lucious, all at the same time, but she doesn't know how to spell it. True

On the other hand:

Nurmi and Willmott are just now advising JA of inevitable LWOP? They only just figured this out? Delusional.

Jodi "is fully prepared." Delusional. Because.......

Betsy G. Otcha (aka Bet She Gotcha) is waiting...... Bwahahahaha! Ol' B's got it covered! No delusion or illusion coming out of Betsy the Big B........ Can't see her keeping her cooties off the Perryville Princess!

Sentence memorandum by defense

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

This whole thing is garbage, but it's late and I can't sleep, so why not play editor for a day:

- Right off the top, second paragraph: "Examples of cases where defendant's received a life sentence with the possibility of parole..." 'Defendants' is plural, not possesive, yet we've given it the apostrophe. I'm not playing Grammar Nazi here; how many times have your pored over a personal thesis/resume/article for errors? This document represents a case for a CFDM's plea for mercy, and you open with this?

- The argument for sentence inequity due to a majority of FDM cases being plead down is invalid; the latter, even if accurate, is irrelevant. The generality of a body of data does not apply to the specifics of one.

- MF agrument of no priors is equally invalid.

- MF agrument of background has a number of flaws. It again commits the same fallacy of comparing generalities to a specific, but focuses on assuring that the CFDM will not be a danger to society in 25 years. That in itself is irreleveant; this is a sentencing of punishment for a crime. The fact that recidivism may be very unlikely for a person in their 60's is secondary (distant, at that). That said, mention is made of how the personality traits adminstered for trial showed the CFDM to be the opposite of aggressive - arguing in circle: two paragraphs down we hear about the severe depression the CFDM was under in 2007/8; thus, it would be expected they would show a much more passive response.

- MF arument of mental illness becomes a hot mess. It's stated that "as the Court is aware" BPD is something one is born with. This is false; studies are conflicted as to the specific determinants - something the motion itself underscores in the very next sentence by mentioning that many diagnosed with BPD suffered abuse early in life. Since there is very little, if any, corroboration to the CDFM's claims of abuse, however, the biological deterrminant cause had to be thrown out there I guess.

From there a cornucopia of afflictions are presented, many of which were countered by witnesses of the State, thus not solid ground for a MF. Further, they all boil down to an alleged situation the CFDM could not control, yet are contradicted by the fact that the CDFM took enough control to stage a burglary to acquire a firearm, rent an inconspicous vehicle, and drive a long distance out of her way in attempted stealth mode in order to meet up with an ex-bf so she could stab him 27 times, slit his throat, and shoot him in the face.

Ugh. Just go away.

It's funny how in that memorandum (on p. 3) they use a quote from her journal to show how she has long suffered from depression and part of it reads 'I wish suicide were an option'. Well it was an option JA, and it still is.

Anyway, here's hoping for LWOP. I reckon she must be getting pretty apprehensive as the day draws ever closer - only two sleeps to go!

A sentencing memorandum is not something that will delay the trial. This is a standard filing in this type of case. Basically, Nurmi is just trying to plead his client's case to not sentence her to LWOP.

I have complete faith she will get LWOP. The only thing that could make it sweeter is to hear Judge Sherry say, "You are a murderer with no remorse. You are a threat to society and I hope you die in prison." A girl can dream :)

Ooo. That corner on the edge of the desk looks dangerous. She may be able to knock her brains out with that.

I did read that they have swamp coolers at Perryville. I don't know what they are, but it doesn't sound good.

Monday, Monday, can't trust that day......lalalalala

LOL @ trying to compare murderers' sentences. Remember what our parents taught us:
1) two wrongs don't make a right. I don't have the patience to read through each of the 19 pages of cases nurmi cites as examples, but I will say that a conviction of 1st degree murder should mean something and LWOP should be applied in all cases where premeditation is involved. Again, just because those murderers were given an opportunity for parole doesn't mean they deserve it, and it certainly doesn't mean that they'll get it.
2) just because someone else gets or does something, doesn't mean you get to.

Basically, life isn't fair, but she's still got her life and Travis doesn't have his.

I'll bet nurmi would do cartwheels if he could, he'll be so happy and relieved to get away from cmja. Possibly, he even desperately wants to get away from the girls jw and mdlr. Honestly, the maturity level of all the females involved in this seems to be about 12. ja, the mom, the aunt, the mitigation specialist, the witless alv, and on occasion jw, too. Not dogging on jw's intelligence, just the lack of mature behavior in general.

BBM Ohhellzyeah!

When we are finally done with sentencing, I wonder if charges will be brought against some of the actors in this courtroom fiasco. [17, MDLR, ALV, etc. etc.]

None of their nonsense would have been allowed in this guy's courtroom, and the trial would have been over ages ago.
