Evidence of Heart Shaped Sticker on Duct Tape Destroyed

For me the importance wasn't the evidence ,itself,it's what it showed KC was capable of.I saw it as a taunt by KC both to poor little Caylee, and also,to Cindy.Like a signature ,of sorts."See ,I told you I wouldn't let you have her",or something along those lines. What on earth was going through KC's mind when she took the time to put a heart shaped sticker on her dying child?

I'll take that one for $300, Alec -- She hated Cindy more than she loved Caylee!

It sounded to me like it was not sizable enough to even try and compare it.
What I do know is that ,even Caylee's dna was not found on the tape, most likely due to the elements and decomposition over a long period of time, therefore ANY DNA found on the tape most likely ended up there AFTER Caylee was found.

I hate to type this but you're right -- as no dna from Caylee was there, the most likely source of dna after a tech would be the animals that had access. If there's no Caylee dna, there's surely no perp dna.

Also, Lin correct me if I am wrong. Why would LE release the names of all the JH's that they contacted while checking them out to the public or defense when defense could do that research themselves? Look at what the media has done to ZG. If during their investigation they found no one who matched KC's description in the Jacksonville area why would they put those names out there. Plus we already know by her pings that she was not with Jeff during the times she stated but was with TL. And LE knows there is no Jeff. Can't prove a negative.

Sometimes people forget that what SA puts out there is from their investigations and defense can do the same, right? If there were some evidence that the defense has that would prove KC's innocence it would be out there for everyone to look at and weigh it out. All we get are mistruths and flat out lies when defense does release info. She does not have to prove herself innocent but in light of the damning evidence KC better do something soon. The heart-shaped sticker makes us realize there is nobody home in that pretty little head of hers.

More than CAN do the same; the defense is required to do the same; it's called reciprocal discovery.

I agree, Lin. If there was no DNA from Caylee on the tape, its very likely the DNA was from an investigator or lab tech.

I respectfully disagree. I dont know there is residue. Doc said it was an outline. If there was residue, lets test the residue.

My point remains, even though the residue degraded, disappeared, whatever during testing -- this is NOT a good issue for the defense. Attacking the handling of this bit of evidence is admitting the residue was there in the shape of a heart. Either the observer(s) got it right or they didn't; either there was residue or there wasn't; either it was heart shaped or it wasn't. Can't say they mishandled this evidence and lost the residue but no, it wasn't there and no it wasn't shaped like a heart. Well, not and retain any credibility whatsoever.

WARNING - GRAPHIC AND UGLY

Or scavenging animal. That monster literally threw that baby to the wolves or whatever wildlife was in the area to tear her apart and... nope, can't type it.

IMHO any evidence of a heart sticker on the duct tape covering poor Caylee's mouth & nose, would not be necessary to help prove guilt, but would weigh as aggravating in the sentencing phase.

:furious: I thank God the residue is a non issue and the rest of the evidence continues to mount. Can you imagine what she would do if she got off? KC is young .I still think G and C were at risk of being next. And who knows after that.

To describe what I could imagine would happen if she were acquitted would require another 'graphic and ugly' warning and relinquishing my membership here!

I tried a silly test. I took a piece of duct tape and stuck it on a piece of plywood, then placed the plywood under a bush in my yard. I then put a small heart shaped leaf on the tape. I left it under the bush for a week, during which we had light rain 3 times. At the end of the week I brought the plywood inside and removed the leaf. There was indeed a heart shaped outline on the tape. Using an artist's brush with very soft bristles I lightly brushed the tape. The heart shaped outline was gone. What if a heart shaped leaf had found its way onto the duct tape that was attached to Caylee's hair, and left an outline, and there never was a heart shaped sticker to begin with?

Oh no, I am sorry I forgot to take a picture of the outline before I brushed the tape, I guess you will have to take my word for it that it was there.

That would be an amazing coinkydink.

Just the thought of the tape with or without a heart sticker is sad enough.

Are you making a point, you sly devil? Point taken.
As I said before,I think it's all a non issue. They don't need evidence of a heart shaped sticker. They have so much more.

If you are an FBI forensics technician, a Medical Examiner, a Police Officer, someone with no axe to grind,and/or someone who has a record of integrity and truthfulness I will take your word for it.

Yes, they did. Several WB'ers did as well. The pizza that is. Odor and insects.

So did a passel of college students.

For awhile, testing the pizza became QUITE the academic fad!

And, everybody got the same result-- dried- out shoe leather pizza. No stench.

The heart shape you were able to brush away with an very soft bristled artist's brush must have even been more even more fragile than the one the FBI person saw at the lab; it had survived several packagings and miles of travel (probably because of the adhesive backing). And would you share with us, please, what kind of heart shaped leaf that is less than 2 inches in height that you used ~ or that you think might be native to central Florida? We accept and welcome all hypothethis! Please don't misunderstand; I'm not questioning your honesty!! I just need more details to be able to understand.

If I were on the jury and this evidence was presented some way, i would discount it completely.
But I would have other evidence to ponder.

Anytime there is the perception that there was carelessness or error, it can be a hurdle. If it was the only evidence it would be a bigger problem, but as it is it will probably not mean too much if the other evidence is presented clearly and without question.
