I came to Adji's thread to see if there was any news. It is spring here and I have the back doors open for fresh air, I can hear the small children next door playing in their back yard.

It makes me sad for Adji. Still praying for a miracle here.

Gracenote - if you post links to any news media you contact, I will also send emails. Sometimes it is good if they see more than one request.

Also, it was Seriously Searching that noted what folks should be doing as far as searching property, etc. I will send her a pm and ask her permission to incorporate some of that language into the emails to the news media.

I posted this on another thread, but this is what I think should be taking place right now for people in or around Satsuma:

Where is Haleigh now? What can we be doing constructively to find her? Evidently, what LE is doing has them no closer to finding her. I want to find Haleigh.

Are people putting out fliers? There should be people handing out fliers to passing motorists on the weekend from the street corners in every surrounding community. There should be fliers tacked up in every business.

There should be searches taking place even if they are privately done. If you have property in or near Satsuma, please take the time to go search your own property as it impossible for others without permission. Look in every outbuilding, look for signs of disturbance by outside sources, and report them. On many cases, I have suggested the media/public have a day set aside for everyone to search their properties to further the cases along.

SS has given her permission for us to plagerize this wording for media contacts for Adji. I'm suggesting something such as:

"Little Adji has been missing since January 10th, 2009 and this case appears to have gone cold. Could you please run an updated story on Adji and remind everyone to search their individual properties, yards and outbuildings looking for any signs of disturbance. Also, if you saw anything or had a visiting friend or relative at the time Adji went missing that might have seen something, please report it to Law Enforcement. You may think it has no significance, but the slightest piece of information may be the clue that Law Enforcement is looking for to help bring Adji home.

For anyone that feels compelled to help further, a poster for Adji can be found at this link: http://ms2.naplesnews.com/npdn/content/img/photos/2009/02/09/AdjiDesirPoster_t600.JPG . Please download the poster and pass it out or put it up whereever you can.

Thank you for your time and consideration of this matter.

Sincerely,"

Do we have a link to Adji's poster?

TIA,

Salem

Hi Salem, sounds good to me. I would change the very beginning (part where it says 'well over a month') to the actual date Adji went missing.

It's appalling that I (and others) have to go scrounging around the internet to find there has been no news regarding Adji in weeks & weeks!

It's past the point of frustration when all one can do is sigh and sigh again. I hang on to the notion that God hears those sighs and knows what our hearts mean to say.

This is a good editorial.

http://www.naplesnews.com/news/2009/mar/07/editorial-missing-children-search-adji-goes-can-we/

"...Some of the questions about little Adji may never be satisfied. Some come against a perception of injustice, with Adji being Haitian and other missing children being white and wholly American. Some can never be answered short of turning back time and having the mute 6-year-old watched more closely while at play.

We do not know what if any level of emergency alert could have made a difference in Adji’s case.

Our effort to be a productive fault-finder comes up short. We believe the news media has more to contribute here as a solution-finder. That means working with authorities to issue future alerts and requests for volunteer searchers, or on processes that make spreading bad news more systematic — regardless of how a child or adult becomes missing. All that matters is finding them. Whatever it takes."

The rest is good, too but I know I can only copy/paste a certain amount here.

That is exactly what the news media needs to do... WORK on spreading the news regardless of the demographic. Every Missing Person deserves to be found!!!!!!!

This is a map of Florida (No, really? Yes, it is!) If you are like me and not totally familiar with states other than your own, you can see where the counties are and cities (Adji is in Collier County). You can then get an idea of where to send media contacts to, although he might not be in a neighboring community.

Let me see if this loads.

Edited to say: Yeah! Easy as pie, Websleuths rocks. Just click on the image to make it bigger.

:offtopic: Reading all these newspapers makes me want to go to FL and just lay on a beach for a week. and read :book: People can just step over me and bring me diet cokes and cheese sandwiches as needed.

I sent the following email to 9 papers and 3 individual sites:

"I am writing to request that your newspaper please do an update on little Adji Desir, who has been missing since January 10th, 2009 from Collier County, Florida. Adji's case appears to have gone cold and his family could use some assistance in reminding everyone to keep their eye out for this little boy. Adji is developmentally delayed and has trouble communicating.
It would be very helpful if your article could remind everyone in Collier County to search their individual properties, yards and outbuildings looking for any signs of disturbance. Also, if they saw anyone or anything or had a visiting friend or relative at the time Adji went missing that might have seen something, to please report it to Law Enforcement. Often times it is the little detail that a person thinks is totally insignificant that is the clue that Law Enforcement needs.
Posters for Adji with local Law Enforcement numbers and contacts can be found at this link: http://ms2.naplesnews.com/npdn/content/img/photos/2009/02/09/AdjiDesirPoster_t600.JPG . These posters may be downloaded, printed, and passed out or placed in visible places to remind everyone to keep looking for little Adji.
Thank you for your time and consideration of this matter.
Sincerely,"

Anybody who wants to, may copy and use/plagerize/modify as they wish.

Gracenote - thank you so much for posting all those links. It made my work go smoothly and took me only about 30 minutes.

Thanks!

Don't forget the Fort Myers News Press, and WINK Tv in Fort Myers...I think NBC 2..I think their main stations are Ft Myers

Just checking in to see if there is any news.
Edited to add: I know this is Criminal Investigation 101 but if Adji lived with his Mama and step Dad but was staying with his Grandmother this day (I think) could he have wandered away trying to get home to his mother? I can't remember who lives where but I am sure they would have considered this and checked all along the way for any clues. The other kids say they last saw him walking down the road. I also would like more info about the kid's brother who came to get the one child. Who is he. What did he see.

I need a document dump LOL

I am trying to imagine how a 2 year old would behave since they say he has the mental state of a 2 year old.

I emailed those sites. Thank you so much to Gracenote for putting together that list.

I also went ahead and emailed Americas Most Wanted, Nancy Grace, Greta, and Jane Velez-Mitchell. If anyone knows of any that I've missed, please let me know!

:rose: praying for Adji.

Just sent out a batch of letters (thanks Salem, great work ;-) and thanks Gracenote for the links).

Praying for little Adji!
