In a statement, Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott said a wide variety of manpower and resources were used to find the missing girl.

"We remain focused in this active investigation and in locating Diana. At this time there are no additional suspects being investigated in this case."


He said his agency, along with state and federal law enforcement, will continue to work the case in search of closure.

My big question is the fact that he lived with the victim, groomed her, already likely had sexual contact with her, how does this affect things stat wise as far as disposal etc in comparison to random abductions...

As this unfolded, and with LE extensively searching the wilderness and with cadaver dogs, I lost hope that DA was still alive. This case looked like JG was obsessed with this child, groomed her for himself over a long period of time, took her, and she likely died. However, back when we were discussing YHJ, and the Wikipedia entry is informative, this is the perfect area to hand off a trafficked person with two long stretches of turnpike without exits. Something about the charges and calling off the search has made me more hopeful that she has been trafficked. JG is someone who needs money and I wonder if the grooming was about his personal needs but then also selling DA. I have no idea how much he could get, but do thousands seem likely?

I am sad to see the search has been called off. Knowing Sheriff Scott from the Seivers case, I don't believe he would call it off without very good reasons. I am sure the truth will come out in a plea deal eventually, at least I am hopeful. My heart breaks for Diana and her family. They appear to be really loving people. :twocents:

Exactly. And I am not sure whether to take LE's remark about no other suspects directly, or read into it a little that they have no other specific suspects but may be developing something larger than JG. I wonder also if there was some other larger investigation already ongoing by the feds and JG stmbled into it with DA.

Maybe he had an apartment in Orlando but didn't want to go back there because he knew the police were looking for him at that point. Maybe he thought he could hold up for a few days with a stranger until he figured out where to go to hide. If this was a pre-planned abduction for cash he either didn't think everything through or his plans to get away with it failed. He's not very smart, IMO. If someone very bad has Diana they threatened JG enough to keep him from talking. The possibilities are almost scarier than the thought she is dead, IMO.

He could have had a debt to pay. Perhaps in pedo circles, maybe there is sharing activity and he was pressured into providing a child, eg, they shared with him now it's his turn and he needs to share with them, they even taught him how to slowly do the grooming. I am struck by the long grooming and it seems so odd to then just use her and kill her. I know this all sounds awful - I am just hoping she is alive and returned to her family no matter what has happened to her.

If they are of Diana, it is no one's business except for her mother. That information should never be released, especially if she is alive, I would never want someone to be put through with the world knowing that about them for the rest of their life. They have definitely suffered more than enough to last their lifetime.

In the days following her disappearance, LE's efforts were impeded by weather and other factors which they are not at liberty to discuss. Hmmm. Perp in custody. Child still missing. Ground search ceased. If LE would give up some locations, volunteers would be out there in a heartbeat. Why haven't they given any clues about where JGT's vehicle allegedly broke down? His cell phone pings? People would search. If he dumped her, I would suggest it will be along the hwy where he had the accident and in a bare orchard which will not be visited until fall soil prep. It will be someplace he worked before and knows that it is now fallow and no one will be around.

Why go all the way to Mexico? We have plenty of disgusting people trying to buy children right here in the US. Even more sad is the fact that these kids are usually sold by their own parents, who are supposed to be protecting them. A child *advertiser censored* ring seems to be a lot less common than children being sold by their own families, IMO.

Keep in mind these are just the ones that got press because they are such disgusting cases. Teen girls whose parents sign for them to get married to a guy twice their age to get the kid out of their hair aren't going to be on this list. Girls who get left in a drug house with a bunch of strangers while their dad goes out to buy drugs for his guests aren't included in this number either, even though dad clearly knows what's going on when he's not there. Moms who turn a blind eye while their boyfriend of the moment molests their daughter because she gets to live rent-free in his place and drive his car aren't officially considered sex traffickers either. I would consider those examples to be selling children into sex slavery, even though the child hasn't been officially sold off to live with their abuser. Keep in mind this is just my opinion, and both of these situations are ones I have had the horrible misfortune of hearing about during my life. It is amazing how many people have stories to tell when they know you're there to listen. No, I am not parent-shaming every parent on earth that has had a child that has been molested, because in the great majority of cases the parents have no idea because of the sneakiness of the abuser. What I am saying is that parents have had a hand in their own child's abuse more than you could ever guess. Well, I am on this site, so you guys probably would be aware. In case you are not, this is what I've heard about in my life, so this is my opinion.

I hope with every fiber of my being that DA hasn't been sold to some sicko, but I feel like there are enough sickos out there that it may be possible. I have another theory that I'm going to keep to myself, and I hope to God I'm wrong.
