I think that's probably seaweed (it's brown when it's floating) but some people claim it's a lifejacket.

I have no idea how fast the Gulf Stream moves but it would really surprise me if they made it all the way to Cape Hatteras area by now. It just seems like such a long ways.

Huge risk....my brother has had his videos of his run ins with sharks recorded on video (go pro cameras-underwater) & they've appeared in televised documentaries. Sharks are often caught by him when he's recalling in his catch---the sharks are on line eating his fish!
Big shark problem here since large net commercial fishing has been banned.

(I have my share of tales with "land sharks" here! Lol!)

Rainy, thunderstorm evening from Jupiter up to Jacksonville, FL....all along the Atlantic, btw.

OT Yikes! Are any of your brother's videos online, YouTube? Sharks are scary, fascinating to me ever since I saw "Jaws" way back when. I later learned that Peter Benchley regretted portraying sharks as killing machines. And then, I watched the movie "Open Water" and it scared me! I don't know how accurate that movie was!

Was large net commercial fishing banned to protect the dolphins?

It's a little bit north of where they expected them to be, I guess... But keep in mind it's been stormy lately, so the wind could have pushed them, etc.

Do you think it's been altered or added to with the color change? I see people keep saying the family does not want the pics posted, why is that? Do they believe it's a hoax?

JMO - if these are photos of the boys and they are no longer alive the family may want privacy.

None of the pictures I've posted have been altered at all. I don't do anything but maybe zoom a little and crop.

This one has not been altered. I took that screenshot myself after I looked at the link and noticed that. The OP was asking about the white spot in the 1st 2:10 set. I looked and saw this too.

I think the posts are getting deleted because the families are on that page, and people were nonstop "it's a body! Here's the head! Here's the leg! Is this one face down? Maybe he's dead!"

It's a fifteen ring circus over there.

Sorry, I've deleted my posts regarding the photos. Just what if?

ETA, Damara, we had the same thought.

I'll get you the links for the original 2 sets of pics from 2:10p and 3:10p.

Thank you for these pics. These are nice and clear.

IMO, the 1 picture seems to have a long object with white on each end and a blue section in the middle.

I think the object is too long to be an ice chest and doesnt look to resemble a person so I think I am going to take a guess and say it is just debri.

But I maybe looking at things wrong. I am terrible when it comes to trying to make things out in pictures like this.

That's the picture I pointed out. It's really the obvious one, but for some reason people are making all kinds of claims based on altered pics. Honestly it's making me really irritable.... Grr.

I saw the original post when it was made, I pointed this out to the group, which got ignored in favor of altering the color in other pictures to look like something we didn't originally see.

This is the original picture I saw and pointed out.

Any idea how large this object is? The cooler is what, 3 by 2 or something?

I'm not sure on the exact cooler dimensions, and I don't have any reference of size for this buoy, or where the cam is in relation to the water. I believe the cooler is smaller than that though. It's a Yeti 65 quart, that's all I know.

Above video is a sample of the vastness of the seas in that area...but in a big boat
Typical fishing day in the Jupiter area (with music & special effects)

Marlin was released.....no sharks in this particular video

...too bad the boys didn't go out of the inlet shown at the end of this video (Port of Palm Beach) which is the next inlet south of where they went--Jupiter Inlet.

just got off my 5th cruise and we are active boaters.

1) lots of what I call "sea trash" floating around

2) its like buying a sofa in a warehouse store: there is no scale. Items like the one in the photo are, IMO, much larger than you think. Also, it is nearly impossible to spot something in the water even when you are looking.

3) to me, that is obviously not a body in the photos.

I do believe these boys are deceased, unfortunately. We were able to follow miami news on the ship, so we followed this story the whole week.

Yeah, you had warned us before about that "FB Group Gone Wild" :)

That particular object just looks way too long to me to be the ice chest. And it has a distinct blue section in the middle.

It almost looks like a large long rubber boat bumper that people would use to keep their boat from dinging into a dock.

Something like in this link but maybe a longer one.

That pic could be anything or nothing. Personally it looks like a wave line to Dh and me.

if the boys are deceased and have not washed up on an small cay in the Bahamas, they are lost a sea and likely never to be found.

My husband and I were just chatting about this case, and he said, "You know they are gone."

And I said, "I realize that is the likely probability. But you know good and well that if it was our babies, you'd still have to look. If they are gone, those mamas will still be looking at familiar men in the grocery store 15 years from now.....wondering."

Such a sad situation.

Look up the facebook page for the missing Nina. Of course, the families are still looking over a year later "just in case"...

Lost at sea is about the worst I can think of because the families get no closure: no body, no story of what happened....

From what I remember, the families have no idea how many life jackets were on board, apparently no ditch bag that I have read about, no Epirb, and the boys didnt take boater safety classes. (Apparently they werent supposed to be that far out without an adult either....)

Its a nightmare for the families and my heart really goes out to them. I can't imagine much worse with a child involved. Its the not knowing that is going to haunt them...

Agree about "sea trash".

Whenever I have visited beaches in the past I always found it exciting to be a beach comber. And besides shells, I found all kinds of interesting "stuff".

I would get up at the crack of dawn and walk the beach and it was just amazing the stuff that would wash ashore during the night.

Most of the interesting things I could not take home because I would need a truck to haul it. LOL :)

One time I ran into a 10-15 foot nice wooden beam that I am sure somebody ended up getting.

I also found stuff like rope, plastics, an occasional bouyey, and I even found a part of a scuba divers equipment. It was just amazing the stuff that would wash up.

I almost started to like looking for the "stuff" more than the shells. LOL :)
