My gut feeling on this one is that they were unsupervised longer than is being reported and they wandered off to explore and ended up in trouble. I hope they’re out in those woods somewhere lost and will be found before it’s too late.

It feels good that my gut feeling was right on this one!!!

So many times when there’s an autistic child involved, the story ends badly in a body of water. I am so happy that’s not the case this time.

JSO Update - Officially found, Dec 17, 2019
  • Lively and talkative
  • Asked for cheese pizza that was quickly delivered
  • At the local hospital for observation
  • Took shelter in a dilapidated pump house
  • Found 400m into the woods
Questions:
  • Found in the dilapidated pump house, don't know if they were there the whole time until they talk to them more.
  • They were not trapped inside.
  • No reason to believe they weren't alone the entire time
  • They do believe they had just wandered off
  • No connection to the car mentioned earlier. They had very limited information, not much beyond Spongebob music, no reason to believe it is connected.
  • Seem to be in good health. Maybe a few bumps and bruises. Very talkative. Talked a lot to the JFRD personnel that carried them out.
  • That area had not been searched yet.
  • One of the rescue team members heard a child's voice and started looking closely around the area and then found them after hearing them talking
  • Children seemed happy and talkative. Rescuers gave them a bottle of water and some candy. They happily chewed on candy, then asked for cheese pizza, rescuers all chipped in to go get it delivered to them.
  • Sheriff does not expect any charges to be filed, they will continue evaluating, but the parents were very cooperative from the very beginning and they expect that to continue.
  • Not sure why dogs didn't pick it up, planning on evaluating that. Could be a number of things from the conditions in the area, the fact that they were very small children, etc.

I am just now getting home to catch up and am so happy to see these two have been located safe!!! Santa, you really need to step up your game with these two this year! (And don't forget to throw in some goodies for LE and the searchers!)

I can't wait to hear the story about how they were stumbled upon!!!! LE is deserving so much praise for saving two precious lives probably in the absolute nick of time. Thank goodness they didn't give up and searched as hard and as long as they did! I can't even imagine what it was like on scene to come across them in the woods.

Awesome news. :)

(O/T, which case was it where there was a little boy who also got lost in the woods and said a bear kept him company or safe or something like that? :D Do you guys remember that? The crazy thing was it was a bear prone area too, iirc.)

Oh WOW! This is SO GREAT news! Just popped in here a minute ago - and the second post said they were found safe!!
