Police search for missing girl, 1, who fell out of moving car, say mom did not get her help

Cassidy Mills was last seen in the area of NW 37th Avenue and NW 54th Street in Hialeah ...

Hialeah police said she was a passenger in her mother's car when she fell out, and a concerned witness "who observed the child alone, crying, and appearing injured, immediately intervened."

The witness started calling police, but while she was on the phone, 29-year-old Tasshay Mills, the girl's mother, allegedly came back and "forcibly took the child from the witness, and left without providing further information."

Cassidy was last seen wearing a light-colored pajama shirt with a pattern, pajama shorts, and pink Crocs. Her hair is in braids, and she has scrapes on the top of her forehead and her left eye.

Tasshay is 5 feet 6 inches tall, 230 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Tasshay was last seen wearing leggings with patterns and an oversized t-shirt.

According to Hialeah Police, 29-year-old Tasshay Chelsea Mills was driving a red 2016 Chevrolet Malibu, with Florida tag BR06HG, when Cassidy reportedly fell out of the moving vehicle.

The incident happened Thursday night near Northwest 37th Avenue and Northwest 54th Street.

“If located, DO NOT APPROACH. Contact law enforcement immediately,” the department said.

Anyone with information on the child’s whereabouts is asked to call 911 or the Hialeah Police Department at 305-687-2525.

Found safe!

Police said they tried to get Mills to return to the scene or allow the child to receive medical help, but she failed to do so.

The pair was eventually found at an unspecified location and the girl was taken to Nicklaus Children's Hospital.

Mills was also found and is in custody, but no charges have been filed yet.

They likely have plenty to hold the mother on with her priors in Miami-Dade County. Multiple charges of petit theft, resisting arrest, fraud, stolen property, assault with a deadly weapon (which is probably why they had the "do not approach, call 911 on the missing report IMO) and several within those charges for probation violation. Hopefully Cassidy and any siblings will have someone ensuring their safety in the future. https://www2.miamidadeclerk.gov/cjis/CaseSearch.aspx

Falling out of a moving car as a baby before their soft spot is fully closed is very worrisome. I wonder if the baby has a concussion or a skull fracture. Poor tyke, to have a cold uncaring parent who doesn't even put you in a car seat to keep you safe.
