I'm a social worker and domestic violence researcher. These guys see both child and mom as their property and as such they have "a right" to do whatever they want to them. They do not see them as autonomous humans with human rights, but only in relationship to themselves: my girlfriend, my wife, my child. Therefore, ex-girlfriend is stealing two items of his property, herself, and "his" child, and he must get back control by any means necessary. I know your statement was rhetorical, those of us with normal relationships and boundaries and respect for our partners will never truly be able to wrap our heads around this mindset, but unfortunately a shocking number of our neighbors and family members have adopted it.
Sadly I have to agree with this statement.

In the fairly short time I've been on WS I've read many threads (way too many) involving domestic violence. This is the main reason I ask about relationship status as well as any history of domestic violence or MH issues.

IMO this case directly parallels the ongoing Ciera Locklair Breland disappearance.

It's normal and recommended. Even that doesn't guarantee safety. Lighting, people, cameras at least improve your odds at justice.
Of course it doesn't guarantee safety, I was just shocked that people didn't know it was a u&c type thing to do... Wish she'd brought her father with her, then again, we don't know what the terms of the drop off were or if something was in writing. It's just so unfair. Life cut short and her poor daughter loses her mother. She's only a year younger than me...and I think of everything I still have left that I want to do and all of my loved ones - I can't even imagine what they are going through.

Also, your point about there being cameras and that improving odds at justice, etc., is so spot on. I wonder how much they are going to release and if she ever TRULY agreed to meet him at that location...just all seems so odd with how careful she'd been in the past. MS is despicable enough to have concocted a whole scenario that - they are going to realize wasn't all that sophisticated - but those narcissists - they think they have a leg up on everyone.

So very sad for Cassie's family. Ugh 2 amazing women this week, so heart breaking.

I want to know where her sweet baby was when he met her, abducted her and killed her. I pray she was not with him. I feel like it's possible he could have used their daughter to get her near his car and then pushed her in and incapacitated her.

Can't find anything official on this info. yet. The above mentioned isn't a reporter, so not sure where they got the info. from.

I live 8 miles from this property. Saturday afternoon we passed by it twice on the way to and from a walmart trip. We saw all the police vehicles parked out front from Springville, St. Clair county sheriff, state trooper's but our brains didn't go to a body buried in the barn out back. I was just like "did a policeman die that lived there?" Like were they visiting after a funeral or something. So sad for her baby and her family.

Here’s a few more from Zillow 7826 Us Highway 11, Springville, AL 35146 | Zillow

If you look at the back, left hand area of the first picture, you will just be able to see the barn. From the street view it’s to the far left along the property line
