  • Colleen Elizabeth Perris – The Charley Project
  • Perris received a call on her cellular phone at approximately 3:00 p.m. on September 30, 2000. She was at her family's residence near Flamingo Boulevard and Sunrise Boulevard in Plantation, Florida at the time.

Perris told her parents that she was going to Coral Springs, Florida for a short time and would return home by 5:30 or 6:00 p.m. She planned to attend a Florida Marlins baseball game with her family that evening. Perris has never been heard from again.

All of her personal belongings were left behind at her family's residence, except her cellular phone which she took with her. Perris's father still pays the basic maintenance charges on the phone and calls it every two weeks, leaving a message each time, but he has never gotten an answer.

Perris's white two-door 1994 Mazda MX-6 was discovered abandoned in a Tamarac, Florida shopping center parking lot on October 6, 2000. The vehicle has the Florida license plate number D48-PIE, a sunroof, tinted windows, and dents behind the driver's side door and rear wheel well. A family friend located Perris's car and contacted authorities.

There was no sign of her or any indication of foul play at the scene. The car was parked near Pine Island Road and McNab Road. Perris's cellular phone and purse were missing from the vehicle, which had locked doors and rolled-up windows. Rain had washed away any fingerprints or other clues that might have been on the exterior of the car.

Perris's family stated that they did not why her car would be parked at the shopping center. Her father said that Perris enjoyed playing pool and the Bull and Cue sports bar was located inside the center. Perris's equipment was at her home, however, and no witnesses recalled seeing her inside the bar.

Perris's loved ones said that it is extremely uncharacteristic of her to leave without warning. She does not have a history as a runaway.

She was employed part-time as a hostess at a restaurant at the time of her disappearance, and had saved $1,000. She purchased plane tickets for a Colorado vacation in December 2000 and was scheduled to take a cruise at a later date. Perris's travel tickets have never been used.

She is described as a shy but strong-willed, free-spirited and experimental person who enjoys singing, playing the piano, bowling, and playing darts and billiards. She does not like to drive. Perris gets her nails done frequently and she prefers to date men older than herself.

Authorities have been unable to trace the call she received on her cellular phone prior to her disappearance. It is not known if the call is connected to her case.

Before her disappearance, Perris had dropped out of Plantation High School, even though she had been an excellent student there. She later re-enrolled and took summer classes, and was supposed to receive her diploma a short time after she disappeared. She dreamed of becoming an actress.

Her friends stated Perris used LSD and Ecstasy and named her uncle was her drug supplier. They said the man was also trying to get Perris a role in a pornographic film. He denies having supplied his niece with illegal drugs or having anything to do with *advertiser censored*, and there is no proof to support the allegations.

Perris was allegedly planning to visit her uncle on the day of his disappearance, but he stated there was no scheduled meeting.

Investigators have received numerous unconfirmed sightings of Perris since her disappearance, including in the states of California and Alabama and in the Bahamas, but her case remains unsolved. She may be employed in the restaurant industry or as a lingerie model.

Authorities do not believe that she left of her own accord, but are uncertain of the exact circumstances surrounding her case. She was declared legally dead in November 2007.

Family Doesn’t Lose Hope For Daughter Missing 13 Years
"FORT LAUDERDALE (CBS4) – At 18, Colleen Perris loved to sing. She was Nick and Nancy’s only child. But in the fall of 2000, the Perris family was ripped apart."
She vanished after getting a cell phone call, leaving behind her belongings and heartbroken parents.

“We have not given up hope!” said her mom Nancy Perris. “We, by no means, have given up hope that she may be one of these found and who knows where.”

"Nick and Nancy are encouraged when they hear incredible stories like the three girls who turned up alive after missing for years in Cleveland and the Pennsylvania mom who surfaced in the keys after missing for 11 years. But there’s sadness too, knowing their child is still missing.

“We’re very happy for them,” said Nancy, “but you know, what about us? What about our daughter? Where is she?” she said.

“We’re waiting for our turn,” sighed Nick. “And it just hasn’t come.”

Colleen’s dad is also haunted by thoughts of “what if she is alive” and has been held against her will all these years.

“The thought that she may not have survived that day is disturbing to me,” he said, “but the thought that she may have been kidnapped, taken, being held hostage and not being able to help her is something that really, really eats at me on a daily basis.”
"I’ll accept what I have to accept what I have to accept,” said Nancy. “But I know somebody knows something and I want to know.”

If you have information, call Broward Crimestoppers at 954-493-TIPS."

"WSVN — They believe the key is a phone call when she was little, Colleen wanted to be an actress.

Nick Perris: "Boy I tell you, Mary doesn't know how good she's got it."
She loved dancing and singing. The cute little blonde also loved to play sports."
Colleen was an only child, adored by her parents who did everything to make sure she had a great life and she did till she got a phone call on September 30th, 2000.
Nick Perris: "She got a call at 2:59, which we didn't know obviously it was on her cell phone."
Colleen told her mother she was running out for a minute and would be right back.
Nancy: "I asked her if she was going to go to the baseball game with us and she said yes, so she was going to get something to eat and she'd be back."
Colleen never came back"
Nancy Perris: "My mother in law she was always leary of him being around Colleen she just didn't trust him."

"Colleen's uncle was Mitch Ratisher who told detectives he offered to help Colleen a get a job modelling lingerie. When detectives asked Ratisher to take a polygraph test he refused.

Det. Joe Messina: "I think he was his own enemy by not cooperating. I think if he would have opened up his mouth and maby taken the polygraph test at the beginning we wouldn't have looked at him as long as we did."

The uncle didn't co-operate with police, but on the Fox show America's Most Wanted, he denied having anything to do with Colleen's disappearance."
"With no clues and no sign of Colleen, the focus now is on that phone call she got that day. Who made it? What did they tell her to get her to jump up and rush out? The answer to that question is crucial.

"Nick Perris: "To us that's the whole key to what happened to Colleen was who called her at 3."
Make one anonymous call about a phone call to Colleen 10-years-ago and collect $30,000 dollars."

''On Friday, a family friend who was passing out missing person flyers near the Tamarac Square West shopping center in Tamarac, Florida, found Colleen’s car in the parking lot of the strip mall. Although the car appeared to be in good condition, it was parked next to an abandoned fast-food restaurant and there was no sign of Colleen.''

I have the impression that the call is key in this case, perhaps it was a boyfriend who was going away or she was pregnant... such a young and pretty girl full of life, I sincerely hope that one day we find out what happened to her.
rest in peace

I just read her description closer. She was extremely petite, only 95 pounds.
