Johnson's dad took his son to a job interview with UPS earlier that day at 5 p.m. and later dropped him off at home on Biscayne Bay Circle at 9 p.m.

Family sent Johnson a text message at 8:44 a.m. the next day but did not receive a reply, "which was unusual, " according to the report.

Two girls told police they spoke to Johnson on July 11 and said he was waiting on a ride. Johnson reportedly called the girls back at 9 p.m. and told them he was OK and did not give his location.

The girls also told police that a "random guy" told them Johnson got into an "unknown" black car.

Johnson was last seen July 11, 2018. His friends and family say he was last seen at a Valero gas station off Harts Road in North Jacksonville.

His parents said they knew something was wrong when he didn't return their texts the next day.

Foul play suspected in discovery of human remains in wooded area

Foul play is suspected in Corbin's death. I wonder if LE has gone back to question these girl witnesses for more details? I'd especially like to know more about that "random guy" and "unknown" black car. I'm thinking they might have a little more info that can help investigators.

Rest in peace now that you'll receive a proper final placement, Corbin. I pray justice will come quickly if there was foul play.

Friend will always remember 18-year-old 'with a smile'

News4Jax crime and safety expert Ken Jefferson, who is a 24-year veteran of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, said confirming an identity is typically not a quick process. In this case, it took investigators four days to release Johnson's name to the public.

"Something triggered the identity of this particular victim," Jefferson said. "We don't know what investigators found, and rightfully so. They are going to keep that close to the vest because they don't want to reveal how they know who this victim is, because it could interrupt their investigation."
