I can't tell from the articles if she was previously in a car accident or if she may have been hit by a car on the beach. Driving is allowed on that beach. I think they banned open containers of alcohol on St. Johns County beaches before then.

In the article that OkieGranny linked above (as well as other articles posted in this thread), it says:

Bones that were recovered showed numerous healed fractures and three distinctive surgical burr holes in the skull, investigators said. It was speculated that the victim, before her death, had been involved in some type of car accident, in which the injuries would have occurred, investigators said.

If the victim were hit on the beach, there would be no time for her fractures to have healed as noted, nor would she have been able to have the surgery that resulted in the surgical holes in her skull. These injuries were sustained by the victim some time before her death.

This seems like if she were reported missing they would have matched her up really fast. I wonder if the family either didn't report her missing or they tried to and the police didn't create a report

I came here to suggest Shelley Luty but Carbuff beat me too it in 2012. Does anyone know if she was ever looked into? I don't see her name on the rule outs list on namus.

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/l/luty_shelly.html

A friend of a friend recently got into a horrible accident that involved head trauma and it actually required the removal of part of her skull to help with the swelling of the brain...

I thought Luty had been ruled out on dentals, but I don't see it posted anywhere in this thread, and, as you say, she's not on the Namus ruleouts. My records don't show that I ever submitted her.

Are you going to submit her, carbuff? I think she definitely would be a good possibility.

And after rereading other parts of the thread it looks like Billie was ruled out and then looked at again and ruled out...

I need to go back through my notes and see if I can figure out why I didn't submit her before...

I'm not sure if this link is going to work properly or not, but it's this Doe's listing on the Florida Unidentified Decedents Database (case #757).

http://www.fluiddb.com/php/details10.php?case=757

Interesting points:

Estimated Age of Decedent: 36-45

Scars, Surgeries and Other Dental and Medical Information: Many healed fractures and other injuries. Three burr holes present in the cranium. Bones of the nose indicate previous fracture. Both zygomatic bones showed irregularities that could have resulted from fractures or periosteal damage. Five left ribs had healed fractures. The right fibula was fractured during life as well as the right tibia. The left tibia had a healed fragment. The injuries were most consisitent with a previous history of a vehicular accident. Occlusal fillings of the three lower right molar teeth.

The age range is different here, and there's more info on her medical info, including the dental (filling) info.

Billie Jeans DNA from her mother, father and sister have been given to the police. Fathers was done years ago but her mothers and sisters were added this past year.

Because they both have DNA available, and so it's probably a ruleout by default.

The current ruleouts are

Brenda Allen-Szabo 1949 California
Carol Arcuri 1939 Florida
Viola Findley 1954
Billie Hall 1960 Maryland
Wendy Huggy 1965 Florida
Winnie Kersey 1955 Florida
Christine King 1952 Florida
Patricia McGill 1941 Florida

I'm curious why the skull fracture was not listed in Shelley Luty's NAMUS profile....... One would think that would be something important to include :-/ I only see mention of it on this blogspot page

Weird.

No idea why it's not listed in her Namus profile. It's mentioned in her Doenet http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/1463dfpa.html and Charley http://charleyproject.org/case/shelley-diane-luty pages.

Right, I saw that. I mean, do they want to get these unidentified people identified or not! Omitting that crucial physical info makes no sense to me...SMH.

Yeah, really.

Made an enhancement of this poor lady's bust, no offense but it was kinda crude
