A trip to Mar-a-Lago taken by former President Donald Trump that aides allegedly "kept quiet" just weeks before FBI agents searched the property for classified materials in his possession raised suspicions among special counsel Jack Smith's team as a potential additional effort to obstruct the government's classified documents investigation, sources familiar with the matter told ABC News.

The previously unreported visit, which allegedly took place July 10-12 in the summer of 2022, was raised in several interviews with witnesses, sources familiar with the matter said, as investigators sought to determine whether it was part of Trump's broader alleged effort to withhold the documents after receiving a subpoena demanding their return.

At least one witness who worked closely with the former president recalled being told at the time of the trip that Trump was there "checking on the boxes," according to sources familiar with what the witness told investigators.

Takeaways from Monday’s big hearings in the Trump classified documents case

....
Cannon showed some skepticism toward prosecutors’ arguments, asking where they saw a call to violence in Trump’s comments and saying that they had needed to show some connecting facts between what the former president has said and the threats they are warning about.

...

Trump’s defense attorney Todd Blanche said Monday that there were no threats to FBI agents in Trump’s email or social media posts cited by the government, and argued the Justice Department was trying to punish Trump for other people’s comments.

...

In the morning session, though the judge was careful to say her questions shouldn’t imply she was leaning one way, Cannon pushed Justice Department attorney James Pearce to explain how much money the department has used for its work in the Trump criminal cases.

...

Trump is also aiming to bring Congress into the conversation. Trump attorney Emil Bove advocated at Monday’s hearing that Cannon should insist on more congressional oversight of the special counsel’s office’s work, or decide that the way the office is funded is unlawful because, he says, the money is being used in a way Congress hadn’t authorized.

"Thank you notes, Christmas ornaments, magazines, and clothing" were found scattered among the United States' "most highly guarded secrets" in boxes at Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort, according to new court documents.

New photos have shown the extent of the "clutter" faced by FBI agents, who were forced to search the building in "filter teams" to avoid accidentally viewing top-secret material.

Who “packed’ these boxes? Was all the random stuff meant to hide the documents, as if the boxes contained nothing important?

Who “packed’ these boxes? Was all the random stuff meant to hide the documents, as if the boxes contained nothing important?

I too was wondering WHO packed these boxes in the first place.... Haley? His aides? like Nauta? I know there was an article in the beginning of this - it MIGHT have said who it was... but being old :D I can't remember.... LOL!

Here are my notes for the next hearings - I am "guessing" the 6/26/24 hearing was cancelled per my first paragraph below:

The Court hereby cancels the partial evidentiary, multi-day hearing on Defendants' Motions to Compel [469] previously scheduled for 6/24-26/24, to be reset by subsequent Order. Defendants are not required to appear at the June 2024 hearings.

Special Counsel’s Supplemental Expert Disclosures (if any) due on 7/9/24 & Special Counsel’s CIPA § 6(a) Defense Reciprocal Discovery due on 7/10/24. 7/8/24 - Gov't proposed trial commencement date for all defendants. Monday, 8/12/24 - Defendants proposed trial commencement date for Trump & De Oliveira (although Trump “strongly asserts that a fair trial cannot be conducted this year in a manner consistent with the Constitution”). Monday, 9/9/24 - Defendants proposed trial commencement date for Nauta.

So - actually NO next hearing dates - all the ones in the 2nd paragraph are before the HOLD on the case.
If anyone sees a next hearing - please "tag" me - TIA! :)

It doesn't sound like they were packed.
More like just grabbed higgledy-piggledy, and no attempt to put like with like.
I think that was planned. Perhaps some sloppiness is involved, but also attempts to hide the stolen goods. I bet many of us have hidden something in a mundane location in order to conceal it - jewelry in the underwear drawer, for example. (And that reminds me that Melania's underwear drawer was searched....maybe we now know why investigators would look there).

I totally think the mumble jumble was planned to be that way. Lift the lid of a box and see Christmas ornaments and scrapbook fodder, you'd assume the rest of the box contains similar non-classified clutter.

This is a man who doesn't write emails so the written word cannot be traced back to him. Blaming his staff for sloppy packing seems to fit the same m.o. in my opinion.

The haphazard state of important documents looks purposefully deceptive, in my opinion.
