*Status Hearing (Manslaughter) (@ 8:30am ET) – FL – Harley Don Hiatt, Jr. (2) (July 31, 2018, Polk County; tortured to death) – for *Shanon Short (26/now 27) “mom” arrested & charged (7/31/18) & arraigned (9/11/18) with 1st degree manslaughter of a child, 2nd degree negligent child abuse with great bodily harm, 3rd degree child abuse, 3rd degree failure to report child abuse (<all case# 2018CF007158), arraigned (10/3/18) possession of marijuana & paraphernalia & VOP (Petit Theft) (<Case# 2018-CF000522) (on probation for stealing from Walmart). Plead not guilty. Bond $2K, changed to no bond.
Plead guilty (6/29/19) to possession & theft (#2018CF000522A000XX). Probation revoked (7/23/19). Mandatory $5K civil penalty (8/14/19).
Trial set to begin 10/26/20 with jury selection.

@Niner I accessed the docket for Christian M. Thompson. The next court date is 3/31/20 for hearings on motions. They also have set 5/17/2021 for his jury selection. No that 2021 is not my mistake. That is what the hearing docket says

As to Shanon Short, the next status hearing is 5/8/2020 at 8:30 am. She has a jury selection date hearing of 10/26/2020.

Was wondering if you could see if Thompson still has hearing on 3/31 - I'm guessing that it HAS been changed. TIA!

@Niner I just checked the docket for both of them but nothing had changed which seemed strange. I went to the main page for the court and sure enough all proceedings have been suspended until April 20th. They say that they will be rescheduled down the road but that hasn’t happened yet in this case.
All is okay here. Trying to stay home even though I work in an essential service now. I go to the office from 6 am to noon and am there by myself. I leave before another coworker shows up. We have 19 cases in the city, no deaths but I know they’ve only tested 25 so I don’t trust their numbers at all. Just taking it one day at a time I’m glad you haven’t had any deaths either. Let’s hope it stays that way!

@Niner There is supposedly a Status Hearing today 3/31/2020 at 8:30 am and a “Jury Selection” hearing for Christian M. Thompson has been scheduled for 5/17/2021 at 8:30 am. That’s all there is on calendar for him.
As to Shanon Short, it says that there is a Status Hearing on 5/8/2020 at 8:30 am and a Jury Selection date of 10/26/2020 at 8:30 am.
It doesn’t look like the court will hold the hearing today per their main page that says they are basically shut down to mid April but I can check again tomorrow to see if it has updated any of the hearing dates.
