Earlier Friday, officer from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office investigated a call from to the 12900 block of Spring Rain about the possibly missing child.

A woman told police a boy likely between the ages of 5 to 7, knocked on her door and said he was hungry.

Police said the woman tried to get the boy inside her home, but he replied, "no." She went inside to make him something to eat and to get her phone to take a photo of the child. However, when she returned, he was gone.

The boy is described as a white male about 3 feet tall and weighing 45-60 pounds. He has red, shaggy hair and brown/hazel eyes. He also has an overbite, according to police.

She said the boy seemed well kept with no apparent mental or physical disabilities.

Police said there are no reports of missing children.

Police ask for anyone with information on the boy in the Bartram Park area to call JSO at 904-630-0500.

I live in NE FL; this development (Bartram) is popular with families, so this could describe a lot of kids. Hope they find him soon and can investigate — and I’m thankful the adult took the time to call and report this behavior.

The area looks to be townhomes. Let’s home the child was playing, became distracted, knocked on what he may have thought was a friends’ home to ask for food, then realized his mistake and ran off. I could see a child that age (Kindergarten/1st grade) doing that.

I am anxious for them to find this child.

Wow if they are SERIOUS about finding this child as they should be they need to get this out on television, signs, radio, etc and FAST

My heart nearly missed a beat when I saw this thread. We have a young boy, who will be 6 in June of this year, who went missing in Australia and police believe was kidnapped:

Unfortunately, his photo and the composite of the boy sought in Jacksonville don’t appear to match. Keeping an eye on this thread anyway.

I pray the report is just a misunderstanding and this young boy is safe.

I hope this isnt another Turpin/Hart case :(

Which if it is.... could put him in severe danger more than he was if it’s a similar situation.

Is this new technology to create 3D image of a face instead of a sketch?

Jacksonville police still looking for boy seen wandering in Bartram Park

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville police said they are still investigating after a woman reported Friday that a young boy knocked on her door in Bartram Park and asked for food before disappearing.

The boy was described as about 3 feet tall with shaggy red hair and believed to be between 5 and 7 years old. He was wearing blue jeans and a black shirt.

According to a Facebook post, the boy knocked on a door at the Verano at Bartram Park complex about 1:30 p.m. asking for bread because he was hungry. Police said the woman who answered the door asked the boy to come in, but he wouldn't.

She said she gave the boy food, but when she went to get her cellphone to take a picture of him to help find his parents, he disappeared.

The woman said that the boy appeared well-kept with no apparent mental or physical disabilities.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said there are no reports of missing children in the area, but they released a composite sketch of the child to see if they can track him down to make sure he's OK.

“There is no missing child (report) at this point. Nothing other than the original complaint, but we are still working and if anybody has any information we are encouraging them to call,” Sheriff Mike Williams said. “Even if it’s maybe their child. Maybe there was some confusion -- just let us know. Right now, we are knocking on doors.”

Officers at the complex Friday night were stopping and searching vehicles leaving the complex.

Police are asking for help locating the boy's parents or caretaker to make sure he is safe.

Anyone with information is asked to call JSO at 904-630-0500.

Thanks for the update, cv. I hope he is found. He is described a little differently in Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (@Jax Sheriff’s Office) tweet on 14 April:

‘#JSO trying to identify this child to ascertain his safety. He was encountered by a citizen under suspicious circumstances. Described as 5-7yo w/m, 3’0” and 45-60 lbs., dark red shaggy hair, brn or haz eyes and an overbite. Call 904-630-0500 or email JSOCrimetips@jaxsheriff.org’

Most children reach 3' before they hit 4 years old... they'd be below the 1st percentile for height at 5yrs old, and off the charts short at 6 or 7... A child who is 3' and 45lbs would be very well fed and probably visually appear overweight - at 3' and 60lbs they would be obviously and substantially obese... this is a really vague range for describing a child's appearance, and not well represented by the depiction :/ I'm assuming the person was just way off on their height estimate?
