OCALA NATIONAL FOREST — Marion County Search and Rescue on Saturday afternoon concluded its search for a man missing since late last month.

After hours of searching for John Radabaugh Jr., volunteers did not find the 48-year-old Ocklawaha man, who has the mental capacity of a 3-year-old.

I worked with adults with disabilities for 16 years. His picture makes me smile and the story makes me frown. It has been so long now, but stranger things have happened!!!!... Turtle's idea of leaving things out for him is not a bad idea! I would ask everyone in my community to leave a little basket on their porch and watch for him or any items that have been disturbed, to see if an area can be determined. I had an individual "explore" before and we found him at an abandoned house swinging on the porch swing. I hope he is happily swinging on a porch swing, about to be found!

This story breaks my heart. I feel so terrible for Johnny's family because I know that they are desperate and sad. Praying for a miracle for Johnny!

OCALA NATIONAL FOREST — Close to 20 people on Saturday went in search of an Ocklawaha man missing since Feb. 25 in remote areas of Marion County, but they were unsuccessful in finding him.

This just breaks my heart! I would love to see found safe at the top of this page.

I'm so happy to see they are searching again! I live in Ocklawaha and plan on seeing if I can help out on Saturday in some way. I currently am using a walker due to surgery but I can hand out water.

I really wish I was posting that Johnny has been found, taken in by someone and has been playing happily etc., but sadly the search continues.

There is a Come Home Johhny! FB page

His Mother has posted as of April 22, that she spoke with the Marion County Sheriffs Office and they are going take divers into the two big lakes in the area. She aslo posted on her FB page the other day that she saved a plate of spaghetti for him to come and get. My heart breaks for her.

I live on one of the lakes and will keep my eyes peeled for the searchers. We have tons of wildlife such as bears, snakes, and gators in the space between the lakes even though there are tons of walking trails.

One of my friends is on the SAR team that has been out and I always pester him for info. I've heard some rumors but nothing substantiated yet.

On Wednesday, Dr. Michael Warren, director of the C.A. Pound Human Identification Laboratory within the Department of Anthropology at the University of Florida in Gainesville, said what typically happens when remains are found is that personnel at the Medical Examiner's Office will do initial processing that includes a complete inventory and photographs.
Warren said the remains then are transferred to his office by internal personnel or by courier. He said his office first confirms the inventory and then begins to analyze the remains.
