Why is Logan's mother being picked on here? She is not the accused killer. Who cares if she hyphenates her name, keeps her married name, contacts the ACLU, etc.? My god, the lack of empathy here is staggering. Leave her alone.

Anybody who thinks she was being attacked is completely missing the point!
No one said she was a bad person, no one said she was wrong, just pointed out that it was weird. Jmo

I think what a number of people have pointed out is that it is *not* weird at all.

Okay.
You guys that don't think it's weird must be 100% correct.
Thanks for not accepting my opinion and schooling me about what I should think.

I don't think her name has anything to do with how attached she is to her children.

I agree 100%. People keep their names for a number of reasons none of which I have ever seen cause dysfunction in a family IMO

Right.

We don't know anything about the mother and therefore cannot make any assessment on her choice of surnames being "weird." And we can't sleuth her to find out more info because it's against WS rules as she is a victim in this case. Not sure why that is being ignored.

Who is sleuthing the mother?
I just saw her hyphenated name on this forum and found it strange.
I thought it might be relevant as to why LM did what he allegedly did.

I understand.

I just don't agree with your interest, and I happen to think it is not victim friendly.

We do not have to agree.

Yes, I read that in reports and saw the presser that was linked here in the thread. I was wondering if he was perhaps headed there but then realized there was an actual checkpoint or saw that there was border patrol or saw a sign that said "Checkpoint/have IDs ready" or something to that effect which made him turn around/make the illegal U-Turn.

It's also possible he had absolutely no plan and was simply driving. Did that car have navigation system or maps in the glove compartment? He did not have his phone on him, correct? (Thinking no Google maps with no phone)

ETA: Thoughts on the long drive straight through. At 15/16, it isn't nearly as hard to stay awake driving as it is in later years when you're older and the "excitement" of being a driver has worn off. I was able to make a few longer distance trips at around that age (16/17/18) with no sleep and I was not/am not a drug user. Add in the fact that he was unlicensed, grandma is buried in the backyard, dad is due back from his vacation, in gmas stolen vehicle and authorities or at the very least your parents are likely looking for you and not at all happy, the adrenaline alone could make staying up at least one night or more easily doable.

I wonder if he was trying to get to his mother's - is she in Missouri? - and he really got messed up on direction???

The more I think about it, the more I think he was just driving. Perhaps we'll learn more soon.

IDK.

I am so curious to hear the COD for the poor grandmother.

By all accounts she was a compassionate, kind, nurturing influence that loved her grandson very much. And he loved her too. They were very close. So I just don't understand how this all came about.

Reportedly, they both missed school/work on Monday and Tuesday, without calling in or communicating with anyone.

But one of them was able to text on Tuesday, to deflect attention etc. I am assuming that was Logan.

I have to think that the grandson was in control at that time.

But what was happening on Monday and Tuesday, that prevented Grandma from calling for help for a troubled grandson? Every scenario that springs to mind is very tragic and devastating to imagine.

I'm guessing Grandma was gone by Monday. (not a fact, but a guess)

When did the dad leave town??

I don't know. He seemed to have planned for and thought out many things before he ran. He grabbed his insulin, some weapons, buried the body and tried to conceal it, left his cell behind to keep from being tracked, ransacked the crime scene to make it look like home invasion, sent bogus texts to 2 people, from both cells, to delay the inevitable, stole a car.....why go through all that planning and then drive around aimlessly?

He seems to be rather calculated. He is very intelligent and people say he was experienced as a survivalist.

I have no doubt that he thought about where he was heading.

When did the dad leave town??

Quite possible. But having him staying there, planning out his escape for 48 hrs, changes the whole narrative, of him being a panicked child, running away blind.

Since he was (according to his mother) in advanced courses at school, I would think he would have not gotten that far off from where he intended on going. But I guess even someone highly intelligent might not be great at US Geography or cities/travel routes. I would think he would at least know where Missouri is in relation to Florida?

Did the parents and friends say he definitely did NOT have any ties to New York? Maybe an online friend or friend who recently relocated there? If not, then it really could be he was driving just to drive/had absolutely no plans or destination.

Yes, it does.

Any info about money he might have had? He must have stopped for gas, so I'm assuming he had cash as a credit card could be traced.

COD on Grandma is definitely going to open up a lot

But, then again, it's not such a great plan to bury the victim in the backyard.

??

On of the first ideas that popped into my head while he was on the run was - I wonder if he has an online love interest that he's heading to?
