So they met at psychiatric hospital. I assume they were both
patients there. ??? This must be what the father was alluding to
when he said he'd had some "problems".
Wonder what preceded admittance to psych hospital. Maybe the
high school suspension for threatening to shoot up his school?
I hope the GF has a good support system. This could be difficult to handle.

Yet another crime with wide-spread fall-out. :(

Sebring bank shooting: Employee among 5 women killed in massacre 'a light in this world,' family says
Anna Piñon-Williams was a wife and a mother of seven, but she was “family to everyone she knew,” her brother-in-law, Tim Williams, told reporters Thursday afternoon.

Piñon-Williams, described as “a light in this world,” was one of five women killed in Wednesday’s mass shooting at a bank in Sebring, a small city of roughly 10,000 in Highlands County.

“We do not know what was going on in the mind of the individual who committed this atrocious act, but we do know he was influenced by the darkness in this world,” Tim Williams said, adding that the family would not try to understand that darkness.
Tim Williams said Piñon-Williams’ family would overcome her killing “with God’s help.”

“Our family will not only survive, but we will thrive as a testament to love and faith,” he said. “We will never forget Anna.”

Florida Bank Shooting: Victims Are Identified as Police Search for a Motive
Mr. Xaver lived in Sebring but had spent most of his life in Plymouth, Ind., a town about 23 miles south of South Bend, Ind., according to a friend of his, Nathaniel Heitkamp. Mr. Xaver had recently trained to be a correctional officer at Avon Park Correctional Institution, a prison about 20 miles north of Sebring, said Patrick Manderfield, a spokesman for the Florida Department of Corrections.

Mr. Heitkamp said he met Mr. Xaver about five years ago, when they were both teenagers and patients at Michiana Behavioral Health in Plymouth. A representative at Universal Health Services, the company that operates the center, did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Thursday.

Over the years, Mr. Xaver complained about being bullied at school and disliked by his family, said Mr. Heitkamp, who now works in the service industry.

When Mr. Xaver got upset, Mr. Heitkamp said, he openly talked about a desire to hurt people and how he had access to guns.

I wonder if he was angry with his mother Wednesday?
" said he was disliked by his family".

Here we go again, it seems this rejection by family keeps coming up in so many angry young killers.
According to a study done on homicidal adolescents,
"Deprivation and Rejection by early objects (parents, family)
provide the framework for narcissistic disturbances in homicidal adolescents."
I don't have the link but the study popped up when I was researching personality disorders in young men.

A man opened fire in a Florida bank, killing five. Authorities still don’t know why.
January 24 at 5:04 PM
Upon first glance, the dark tinted glass doors at SunTrust Bank hid the horror unfolding within.

But Victor Sparks, a 20-year Sebring, Fla., resident and bank regular, was determined to solve this puzzle. It was 12:30 p.m. on a weekday. It was not a holiday. Yet, the bank doors were locked.

He shielded his eyes from the Florida sun and pressed his face to the glass again.

Inside, Sparks saw several people laying on the lobby floor, facedown and side by side, he said. Behind them was a man, pacing back and forth.

Authorities had previously said the gunman fatally shot everyone inside the bank but later clarified that a fifth bank employee survived. That person, whose name was not released, was inside the building’s break room when the shooting began, and called police after escaping through a back door.
[...]
Josh Xaver, who identified himself as the suspect’s father, told CNN late Wednesday that his son moved to Florida about a year ago. He said he is “heartbroken for the victims."

“He wasn’t raised to be like this,” he said. “He’s always been a good kid. He’s had his troubles, but he has never hurt anyone before.” CNN noted that he did not elaborate on what troubles his son had faced.

A northern Indiana police department has released a 2014 incident report in which Florida bank shooting suspect Zephen Xaver, then 16, said he had dreams of hurting other students in a classroom.

The report released Thursday night by the Bremen Police Department says Bremen High School Principal Bruce Jennings contacted police on Feb. 20, 2014, after Xaver, then a student, reported having such a dream a previous night and again during a nap he took at school. The report says Xaver's mother agreed to take him to a behavioral health center, and police took no further action.

Police also released log entries of further incidents involving Xaver, including one in March 2017 in which Michigan State Police advised that a girl was receiving messages from Xaver that he was "possibly thinking of suicide by cop and taking hostages."
A fourth victim has been identified after a shooting at a Florida bank that left five women dead.

Maine Montague tells NBC News that his 31-year-old wife Jessica Montague was killed in Wednesday's shooting.

He says the couple has a 3-year-old child.

Alex Gerlach, who dated Xaver on and off for three years, said she has long tried to warn people about the ex-boyfriend who she said 'wanted everyone to die'.

'He always hated people,' Gerlach told WSBTV. 'He got kicked out of school for having a dream that he killed everybody in his class.'

Xaver was charged with five counts of premeditated murder and was ordered held without bond after appearing in court on Thursday morning.

Hoglund said authorities will seek the 'highest penalty possible to hold him accountable for his actions'.

Motive here is crucial if the deaths are not to be in vain. If indeed he "always hated people" and "wanted everyone to die," it's a puzzler why he only killed women. Ana, Cynthia, Marisol, Jessica - rest in peace; and let's hope, all, that, for their sake, we as a society learn from this, and can correct the course from which this monster strayed.

Maybe cause he was a coward and didn't dare try to kill men
who might fight back or injure the poor bulletproof vested baby.

Wow I had not heard that there was a 6th person inside (the 5th bank employee) until this article. How great that they escaped! I am interested in hearing more from this person but completely understand if they want to remain quiet and stay unidentified. How horrifying and upsetting it must be for them right now.

Sheriff’s office: 1 employee escaped Florida bank massacre
By Associated Press
January 25 at 11:04 AM

SEBRING, Fla. — A fifth bank employee escaped a massacre that killed five women at a SunTrust branch in Florida, running out a back door when the gunfire began, according to a sheriff’s office.

The employee was in in a back break room when the attack began in the Sebring bank, Highlands County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Scott Dressel said Friday.

“Upon hearing the shots, the employee ran out a back door and contacted law enforcement,” Dressel told The Associated Press. No additional information about the employee was released.

Four SunTrust employees and a customer were killed in the bank’s lobby. Zephen Xaver, 21, was arrested after a standoff with police and now faces five counts of premeditated murder. State Attorney Brian Haas has said he will seek the death penalty.

Good god , the fear as this worthless garbage walked around the hostages must have been unbelievable. And of course since they weren't all killed at the same time, they had to listen as the women beside them were slaughtered.
Cannot describe him as an animal-- that would be a grievous insult to innocent creatures.

At least FL has the death penalty; and I hope he's fast tracked to the head of the line.

Since he's so fascinated with death-- why didn't he just off himself and leave innocent people alone ? (--Because he's also a coward--- and doesn't want his own life ended , just others' deaths ! )

When this story first broke we all thought it had to be an attempted bank robbery but LE is very clear he never attempted that. Thankful that the 6th person (an employee) was able to escape, his life will likely never be the same either just like the families of the deceased victims. Such a sad case, these women never had a chance.
