The father said that HE believed that it was someone from the neighborhood.

I remember in pocatello Idaho about 15 to 20 years ago a young girl delivering newspapers went missing. A few days later a guy called the cops and said his brother had been acting funny and vacuumed out his car. The good brother saved the vacuum bag and sure enough he had killed the little girl and put her in his trunk then disposed of her.

Everyone, please be careful as you search google for info. I just searched a person and facebook from another thread. One of the results was facebook for the person with a blurb of blog pages. When I clicked on it, my computer immediately went into security mode. HIGH threat--Misleading file download. It was blocked by my security, but just a heads-up to be careful on the click.

I have had some problems too doing searches.. all the hateful puter guru's come out I think and do this and think its funny... peeeezzzz me off...

Neighbor? The father is saying this?

IIRC (it was so fast, have to watch again) I just typed.........
but think dad said the LE said, somone close to family, neighborhood,
even a neighbor, like someone she knew

Father is on now

He says shock and now setting in a heavy loss.......
harder every minute
Focus on catching guy
LE not saying much........evidence under wraps
He can't think about ALL the horrible things his daughter's killer did
Someone close to family?
Close to neighborhood......neighbor
He wasn't around her for a few years right?I don't think it was someone close to the family.

Victim was Jeralee Underwood 11 years old

Serial killer was James Wood,James Wood has been credited with at least 85 rapes, 185 robberies and dozens of murders.

I think this is a great point. If a vehicle was involved, I'd imagine that vacuuming it out would be a top priority in the perps mind during the day(s) following Somer's disappearance. Hopefully they isolated the local car wash vacuum bins from the past week. I wonder if there are cameras at the local car washes.

Also, someone mentioned homeless folks. That's also interesting and something I had not thought of. Homeless folks would very likely be familiar with trash pick up schedules, as well as local area dumpster locations.

:waitasec:
What's the connection between whether he was around and having a valid opinion on who could have done this to his daughter?
Genuinely puzzled here.

Just a thought...but today I get an eerie feeling that this person is a known member of the community. I'm now thinking this was a crime of opportunity.

I'm thinking "grandfather" type, older man. Innocent enough to lure upset child. Maybe he was walking a dog or something. That would explain no one seeing or hearing anything.

He saw her walking upset and took advantage of the opportunity. Maybe he has fantasized about it for years. He could have had her there Monday night and panicked with the police presence. I know some times these people stay "bottled up" for years.

Where is her backpack?

I am sorry and don't hate me for this.... but I feel the father is hurting sure it was his daughter..

That said I feel he will milk this for all it's worth to get the attention dt has gotten and to fill his pockets.. He has tasted some of the attention and I am sure would like more.. I don't mean to sound hard or mean.. but my gosh it's been 2yrs since he has contact with the children..

Something is going on there we don't know about... No way he could afford to get lawyer to take those children from dt unless one stepped up pro bono...

He didn't have money or transportation to florida the way it was..

I hope he just goes back to n.c. and mourns and stops this game his playing..

2 years for a child to not see a parent hurts them badly... why would a parent do this??? then act like all is hunky dorry .. I don't think so.. I am thinking of the children sorry If I have offended anyone but the children come first and that was wrong ..

I feel the same way!!
My ex is here in the same county and NEVER helps with the kids. He doesn't see them, but they refuse to see him now that they are older. This has gone on for years.

I did not mean any thing by that.Just he was not around to know if the perp was someone the family knew.I just felt hostility towards each other between them.Just wonder what his motives were.I hope it was to find this poor little girls killer.I pray they find out what happened to Somer. It's all just real sad.Her killer needs to get caught.

In my opinion, I would think if he hasn't had any contact with his children for two years he doesn't know enough about them, their friends, or their neighborhood to even guess who it could be. But that is just my opinion.

Cheetah I have thought this also.. since we saw the stick guy on video. there was another man older type grandpa type that was interviewed and asked about neighborhood and he said he walks neighborhood daily and never sees anything out of ordinary..

I have tried to find this video again and can't find on any of the media stations in florida...

He was on tape gosh close to 2min ...

I think LE is taking a lot of the tapes from media stations.. so many are missing now. clipped and just plain missing..

the guy was around the park across the street from burned house.. I could see the fence he was up close to at the park area... I just wanted to watch it again and never could find it..

he looked a lot like the guy at the tribute table in front of Somer's house.. but without seeing video again I just don't know for sure..

IF she was taken by car, it seems the perp would take her somewhere he was comfortable. I'd think it'd be hard to commit a heinous crime somewhere you are unfamiliar with. Then if she ended up back in a community dumpster it would seem it was definitely someone in the community or someone very familiar with the community. And the car ride was probably a short one.
If Somer had a history of coming home late from school, I have an uneasy feeling that she came in contact with this person long before 10/19. This person was grooming her to feel comfortable around them/gain her trust. She probably saw this person a dozen times or more. I think the best bet would be to ask neighborhood children if they've seen Somer talking to/hanging out with someone after school from time to time. Children have keen observation skills and are privy to information a parent may not have. Just my thoughts.
I don't think this perp waited for her this particular day, there was no way to know she'd be alone. I think the perp knew she was alone at times and gained her trust and then once the opportunity arose, he took her.

Or it could be a way to start casting aspursions on his almost ex-wife in order to build a custody case. JMO

I was wondering where her back pack was too.I wonder if anything was found of Somer's in the vacant house or the bathrooms.
