It's not like people are taking bodies to the landfill, they're putting them in the trash and they make their way there. We should be appreciative of that particular landfill for having whatever systems in place that even make it possible for bodies to be found versus the landfills where bodies have never been found.

It's in the town down the road from me. They accept waste from many places:
Acceptable Materials
Non-Hazardous
  • Asbestos-Friable
  • Asbestos-Non-Friable
  • Auto Shredder Fluff
  • Biosolids
  • CERCLA Waste
  • Construction & Demolition Debris
  • Drum Management-Solids
  • Industrial & Special Waste
  • Municipal Solid Waste
and it is extremely well organized. It needs a guard to keep people out of there. People have been in many of our landfills looking for scrap, etc. They used to accept "drop offs" from regular people as well- not sure if they still do.

Ah, construction and demo debris. Now we know why that landfill was searched versus any old landfill.

Contractor accused of murdering client in court for fraud charge Thursday
The contractor charged with the murder of one of his Clay County customers was in court Thursday, but on a separate charge.

Corey Binderim is facing a charge of grand theft by construction fraud in Duval County.

Binderhim was brought in at 9:58 a.m. and both the defense and state agreed to a trial date of May 4. He will be back in court on Feb. 27 for a pretrial case management hearing.

[...]

At some point after Thursday's court date, Binderim is expected to be transferred to Clay County to face the murder and tampering with evidence charges associated Susan Mauldin's death.

[...]

The day before Susan was reported missing, Binderim was seen on surveillance cam, despite denying he had been there.

"Inside the home, crime scene technicians found blood smears on a lampshade in the living room and drops of blood on the living room floor. They also detected blood in Mauldin’s kitchen."

"Asked to retrace his steps, the warrant states Binderim did not mention buying concrete and heavy-duty bags at the hardware store before going to Mauldin’s home, or going to the landfill afterward."

Thank You Ray of Hope for posting this. As a Fleming Island resident since 1995 this is disturbing in numerous ways; mainly CB's criminal history beginning 1992 age 17 years old, charged two counts attempted murder in this county. It is alarming CB has no parole officers, no ankle bracelets etc. that I am aware of. I suspect LE knew his past criminal history enough to assess the situation as soon as SM was reported missing. Fact he purchased bags of concrete prior to his business meeting with her is pre-meditation. Unfortunately, a life of crime is his way of life. We knew that when he was 17 didn't we ?

Fleming Island woman’s vacant home a reminder of her murder last October

One year after she disappeared, two pumpkins remain on the porch of Mauldin’s Fleming Island home -- a daily reminder to her neighbors and friends of her loss.

“It’s very disappointing to think those pumpkins have been out there for a year," Joy Strickland said. “It’s almost as if time has stopped for this house. There’s a bubble around it. It’s protected and it’s safe. And even though we all know what happened in the house, bits and pieces of it, it’s just time has stood still.”

A growing memorial on Mauldin’s front steps joins the pumpkins she left behind. There are flowers and a sign that reads “Fly high with the angels, Susan.”

Mauldin’s friends would like to have a memorial for her by the end of the year. According to the trustees of Mauldin’s estate, a death certificate has not been issued, because the medical examiner has not released the cause of death.
