Waterloo Police Department called me back and told me that they only had one incident report with my sisters name on it which was a break in at her home her address was 1707 Blackhawk Street Waterloo Iowa I've tried calling the Department of Human Services in Iowa but just get a bunch of recordings and no one can help me there it seems to find out the exact date I do know the police report my sister filed was September 6th that means it was closer to the end of September beginning of October when she actually disappeared I was trying to get a idea from the Department of Human Services of when the kids went into foster care to give me a closer date but I can't get ahold of anybody and nobody seems to know who to call for me to talk to someone so far that's all I've gotten. I'm still waiting on a call back from GB in Georgia I think I'm going to go ahead and call them again today thanks again everybody I appreciate all your help

Hi Betti,

I think you probably have read of most of these resources, but I thought it couldn't hurt to start listing them here in case there is a resource you may find useful that you haven't contacted yet.

1) Websleuths Stickies

http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?31441-Resources-for-Families-of-the-Missing
Some of the posts are a bit dated, but still useful.

http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...rsons-What-Do-I-Do-Checklists-and-Information
Useful checklists and the blurb by Deputy Coroner Investigator David Van Norman is informative.

http://www.websleuths.com/forums/fo...nal-and-International-Databases-and-Resources
Great Websleuths collection of resources by state & more. You may want to start with Florida/Iowa like you have now, and then work your way through the possible states Viola might have traveled through.

http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?25281-WARNING-for-WS-Members-Please-Read!
A good word to the wise during this long, emotional search.

2) Other Organizations

http://projectjason.org
Check out their Awareness resources (like their trucker volunteers who disseminate posters along their routes and their e-flyer outreach to participating homeless shelters) and the forum. If you haven't already, you might want to start a thread for Viola there. This is an active organization founded by the parents of Jason Jolkowski.

http://charleyproject.org
I didn't see a profile for Viola on here. Charley Project gets a lot of traffic so you may want to reach out to the administrator (Meaghan) to get Viola listed.

I am sure there are many others that I missed, but hopefully this is a helpful addition to what you already have.

You're doing a great job getting Viola's story out there! The first page of Google results when her name is searched for are relevant to the case. Keep it up!

Thanks again for your help I will be looking into these

Thought of Viola today, so I am bumping this thread up.

Betti found a great possibility on the Georgia Bureau of Investigations website; here is the Doe Network page:

http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/19ufga.html

As previously mentioned, the lower back issue is a great piece of information. It sounds like Betti has not had a lot of luck getting someone to look into this for her. I was wondering if a more experienced sleuther could call in this possible match? (I would do it myself, but I have terrible phone anxiety! :silenced:)

I found the Facebook page Betti set up for Viola; she uploaded a larger version of the main picture on Viola's Doe Network page:

I am looking at NamUs Up #114 79 in West Virginia I have contacted Regina Reynolds to see if I could speak to her and I see that my sister has not been excluded from the DNA at this time so cross your fingers.

Fixed my last post didn't know I could edit until just now so I put the information in correctly

Left a message for miss Regina Reynolds hopefully she will call me back in a timely manner or a week or two I've come to expect to not getting quick results back from some of the agencies I call

Crossing my fingers that this pans out, Betti.

Were you able to get an answer about the UID Jane Doe you were previously looking into? She seemed like such a strong match.

No all I got was DNA was sent to Quantico and they have not gotten back anything yet. It is very busy at the Quantico lab. So I just wait.

Bumping up for Viola. I thought of her today and came here to see if there were any developments.

Her NamUs missing person's profile is now showing "Case Access Denied."

It seems the number of NamUs UID listed rule-outs has grown by two with NamUs UP #3036 and #6629. Betti also mentioned NamUs UP #3037 before, but no rule-outs are officially listed on that profile so I didn't include below.

Rule-Outs

https://identifyus.org/cases/6665
https://identifyus.org/cases/6796
https://identifyus.org/cases/8493

I hope Viola is returned to her family soon.

Bumping for Viola. Anyone know why the NamUs profile would STILL be down? It says Im not authorized to view it....

Viola's NamUs profile is still down. Her sister has a Facebook group called "Finding Viola Marie Findley" and recent posts show they're still searching for her.

Yes the family is trying to get her NamUs profile back up and running.

Waterloo, IA made a news clip for Viola! Very exciting! And we have a newly discovered photo by Betti which depicts Viola about 6 months before she disappeared.
The video is too large to post here but It is on the viola Findley fb page

Got some new developments in Viola's case. We now know that she left her three children with an unknown "Caretaker" on or about the 22nd of September, 1983. The caretaker called DHS when Viola was a no show to pick up her kids and they were placed in a foster home on Oct 4, 1983. I have spoken with the foster mom and she does not know who the caretaker was. She did, however, have pictures of the girls from when they were in her care. She has shared them with the family.

I am continuing to hunt down this caretaker because they may have information on who Viola was traveling with. She got to Florida somehow and it wasn't a bus. It was from a friend. But who?
