Originally posted by MsJosie - Yes Zoey, that is what DH said. 'That Felon' may be going to a mental hospital or prison for further evaluation and treatment. When that is complete he will be then sent to a prison, but which prison would he go to? I still have not seen anywhere, in any state, that felon, serving LWOP for a state crime, goes to another state to serve their sentence for the crime committed in one state.

This is sure is a question I want an answer to....hope the media picks up on it. I wonder if the victims/families were aware of this statement earlier before the court day started.

The inmate will most likely go to a prison that is also a regional evaluation center. He will have a physical exam, a psychological exam, job skill interview, etc., and he will be tested to find his intelligence level, etc., etc. Based on those results and on where a bed is available, he will be placed there.

In a trial I watched several years ago -- a good many years ago in Utah or Arizona, maybe, I cannot think of his name -- the convicted murderer/rapist who also had a history of addiction was placed in a prison with a hospital that had a psychiatric center. He definitely needed heavy sedation (as we saw at his trial) and there was staff at the prison facility who could treat him. This should not be a problem for the State of Colorado. Colorado has the facilities and they will keep him till he dies. IMO.

I wanted DP knowing he would be never be executed but because he can't have contact visits un-like LWOP contact visits with hugs no glass partition like DP which only get out of their cell once a day as opposed to much longer as a lifer.

Why is it he could answer all judges questions just fine but couldn't apologize to the victims and families even if he wrote it for the parents to read.? My son is on heavy psychotic meds for schizo-affective and he can talk and read. That was a bunch of Bologna if you ask me.

Because he killed a child he will be hated by the other inmates the other lifers won't care if they kill him they have life already anyway. I do have the feeling someone will get to him like Jeffery Dahmer.

I feel justice was not served because of the stealth juror.

I agree. I do have to say I had nightmares last night due to a video of the killers eyes. They really freaked me out how they darted side to side. I believe he has mental issues but knew exactly what he was doing.

I didn't like seeing him close up. I think I preferred the back of his head.

He really turned into a really strange looking guy. His face looked better years ago in the courtroom even with orange hair. Now his eyes bulge out even more and moves side to side. He does not look like a normal person even if I saw him out in public and didn't know him I would think something was wrong with "this guy" Maybe his MI has worsened over the years which it does because it's degenerative but now he really looks the part.

He almost looked more like he had a mental handicap than a mental illness, and we all know that's not the case, so I honestly think all of that was done for the judge OR maybe he had an extremely anxious reaction to being forced to listen to all those people speak negatively about him without being able to run away. It's been proven how much he hates to be criticized.

His eyes don't keep still. They move up and down, side to side. He doesn't look ok to me. Maybe it's medication or an act. Or maybe he is deteriorating mentally.

I know it's very strange and eerie. I've never seen antipsychotic meds do that to eyes. I think it's some kind of nervous tick. Maybe it was worse because he knew he was going to have to stand up in front of judge and everyone else. All eyes would be on him. He answered judge questions with no hesitation so I don't think meds had in affect on his speech or understanding.

As I stated nightmares. His eyes are freaky!!! Creeped me out--even those stills of his smirk. Shiver :(

The haircut and glasses didn't help. I would as well.

Oh, zoey, creepy, creepy. I'm sorry that happened. <shiver>

Yeah, I noticed his eyes darting around, too -- there was one long look at him and I think he knew it. As I watched him, I wondered if he was doing it on purpose to look more creepy. He's good, IMO, at playing crazy. I don't think that act will go well in prison, however.

Oh Thank you, Thank you MissHaley! = )

I truly loved how this Judge FINALLY made his view known...I have no Mercy..I sentenced max according allowable...and the followed with Get HIM out of my courtroom..No further discussion..Monster escorted out..and Judge out of Courtroom even before him!!

May it's just me..But I sense he would have had no issues IF jury came back with DP..He has absolutely no mercy for monster and actually knows Defnece was preaching a false narrative..So I'd bet he is disappointed on a personal level!!!

In the meantime he followed the law..allowed Defence their due..and fair in his rulings..BUT I'm sure his aingst was seen in his final few words!! He has Not mercy nor feels he deserves LWOPS..But hands were tied!!

I know King suggests there will e no appellate issues..BUT who knows what smarty pants Monster will demand? And yes..He has that RIGHT..tho none of the victims have no control their own....SMH

I pray and will always pray for them all!! They did nothing wrong..yet are paying everyday the ultimate sacrifice...

Now I wonder....an act? I blew up the video clip and watched the first part. While the felon is standing listening to the Judge, his eyes blink a lot, but I do not see them darting back and forth like when the camera was directly on him and he knew it. I have a friend who blinks her eyes frequently like the felon did, it maybe more then normal but still okay, no illness. I did not see that darting up and down and all aroundlike before. Someone mentioned here on WS, maybe yesterday, that the felon 'may' be putting on an act with the darting eyes. The felon sat stoned face during trial but out of sight of the Jury and Judge he laughed and talked with his lawyers. I wonder which mental illness he read about darting eyes when he was doing his research. JMO and observation. Night all.

I have been praying for victims now they will truly grieve--sure they have felt their loss but able to put it on shelf and concentrate on trial---now they just have their memories and heartache over their losses.

Ill never forget my mother in law saying that after the funeral the real grief hits--everyone is gone.

BBM~ Oh this is SO true! When I came back to Nevada after my brothers death.. it was THEN that I truly felt it.. when I was alone. As long as I was with my family..mom, dad, sister and other brothers I felt surrounded by people who shared my heartache.. the minute I got on the plane to come back to Reno I felt completely alone with my feelings and the reality of what had happened...that was the hardest part of all.. facing it one on one.

I think ALOT of what JH did was an act! (I really want to say everything) but I try not to deal in total absolutes because, Im not always right... almost always (tehe) but ...not always. See? I did it again! lol

BBM~ Its not just you.
I agree with your whole post.

Loved this Judge.. the process moved quickly and w/o too much of the drama and antics we saw in "other" trials... The Judge had everything to do with that. I enjoyed watching him Dismiss JH to his forever future.

The judge did great!!!

Am I the only one that once everything is said and done you have a moment of some type of emotion for the guilty party---not wanting them out but...I feel more for victims but there is this element that I would never ever want to live in jail

You aren't the only one... as horrendous as this crime was, I felt sorry for him (if only for a brief moment) when I saw the picture of him walking out of the courtroom after the judge "now said get the defendant out of my courtroom".

As crazy as that probably sounds to some... I guess it's what makes us compassionate human beings rather than psychopaths like he most certainly is... it sucks to have feelings sometimes, especially when others don't deserve it.
