Somebody check up on the "Rev." The parents died in 2001 and estate wasn't settled until 2003. He didn't live there a decade ago.

I am always suspect of anyone who calls themselves "Dr." who isn't an MD.

That was my thought as well. Someone looking for their 15 minutes of fame.

Are we sure they were still occupying the trailer at date of death - could have been w/ a relative or nursing home by 2001 -

There was something about: if Ron's living situation w/ the kids was being scrutinized (because of the custody battle or other reason?) that having a home w/ enough bedrooms for the 2 kids would have made a better appearance.

That trailer/ mobile home does seem rather secluded ???

Isn't there a trailer right next door ??

I saw a clip (prolly on NG) where a camerman is behind the trailer filming the 'side door & the ramp'........clearly in the backround you can see a long stretch of white lattice work.

Looks like a trailer next door might have used this lattice to enclose a side porch/or a carport....

Have we heard anything from next-door neighbors ??

What I don't understand about the home is this...

I read in a comment from the landlord that Ronald had lived in a different trailer, next to him, before he moved into this one. The landlord then indicated that Ronald expressed interest in getting another trailer, so each of the kids could have their own rooms, so the landlord rented THIS trailer (the current one, from which Haleigh disappeared) to the family.

Well, here's my question: If Ronald and family specifically moved into this trailer so each of the kids could have their own room, then WHY is everyone sleeping in one room? I heard tonight on NG that a toddler bed was in Master bedroom, too. She also indicated that one of the rooms was used as a playroom. Wouldn't that leave one extra room? I wonder what was in it, that they could each have their own rooms, if this is why they specifically moved?

Thoughts?

I remember hearing that Child Protective Services had visited the old residence and told him he needed a bedroom for each child.
I'll look for that info and edit the thread with where I got it from.

If that's the case, the other room was obviously just for looks because hayleigh wanted to sleep in their room.

I can understand this..I'm just now getting my almost 5 year old out of my room into his own and that's because I bought bunkbeds AND let his almost 8 year old sister sleep on the bottom bunk. oy. lol

I've heard that said but I haven't heard where it came from. If it is true, maybe someone here can answer this: is that unusual for CPS/DCF to require each child to have their own room? That seems excessive to me, I know many families that wouldn't pass that requirement..

Hi Dot !!

Here's a link to the "Rev,'s" interview.......he lived there "a decade ago" & it had "squeaky floors"......I don't think it was his parents that died there ??
Maybe the current owners (parents) as they have several rental properties...

(me thinks this Rev. was looking for his 15 mins.)

It's probably because the children were different sex.I believe they are required to have seperate bedrooms.

It maybe different state to state. In Calif it used to start at 12 yrs.

Maybe rc just wanted more privacy in the back there..
Afterall he was starting a new life with misty, maybe she wanted the bigger place. I don't think DCF would insist on separate bedrooms at that young of an age. What would prompt them at that time to do this? Another coincidence that misty was moving and rc HAD to have a bigger house...I don't think so. Maybe with his new job and new girl, he wanted a complete new start.

I agree... I also suspect Misty may have preferred to have the children sleep with her in the same room while Ron was working for the same reason. That trailer/ mobile home does seem rather secluded, probably even more so in the dark of night. Misty may have wanted the kids in the same room with her at night as a type of security blanket for herself, also. Somehow would make her feel less alone, less vulnerable. Sadly ironic, in light of things.

Imo, regardless of the reason given to the public for moving around the corner, RC preferred the more secluded area for the sake of privacy from Misty's family. If there are other reasons that would make any sense to me, I haven't heard them yet.

I don't blame him for wanting to distance himself and co. from her family, but it's interesting to me that he would use DCF as an excuse to move when most people would have understood his wanting the privacy regardless of her age.

It also helped seperate his kids from Tommy's. RC prefers privacy, and control on what goes on in his castle. :) moo

They were really no farther away from her family when they moved into the bigger trailer.

I remember this coming up all those months ago and it seemed very odd to me. Unless DCF has changed a lot through the years, bedroom space is not a HUGE issue for them. They feel children are best suited with their parents. IIRC, they are more concerned that the children are provided with their own bed and personal area, i.e. dresser.

We have some members who work for or know people who work for child services in other states. If I run across one of their posts, I'll ask them to weigh in.

This just seems hinky to me as far as excuses go. Will it be a clue to Haleigh's disappearance? I doubt it. But at this point, I'm game to try.

I can tell you that when i live in an apartment complex, i was advised that once my son turned one year old that i have to move to a two bedroom, that there couldn't be two adults and one child sharing one bedroom. That it is a fire hazard. Although, i always thought it would be easier to all get out, if we were all in the same place... but that is just me. :)

throwing it out there....

A fire hazard?! Our bureaucrats have way too much time on their hands, sounds like. [goo-ood grief!]

One thing the former tenant didn't seem to mention is the handicap ramp by the back door, so I wonder if that's a recent add-on ~ and maybe the floors were redone at that time? I still think they'd make some noise though since the mobile home isn't on a concrete slab. MOO

I looked at the Putnam County Tax Appraiser's web site. It looks like she may have died in 2001 but estate wasn't finalized until 2003.

Other info from there:

1995 model mobile home
1248 sq ft (at 24 wide this would make it 52' in length)
144 sq ft porch

Also noted from the site:
In Putnam County approximately one-half of the residential dwellings are mobile homes (also known as manufactured housing).

Estate settled in 2003 - hmmmm - I wonder if it had to be refinanced. If so, it would require a home inspection and repair of any water damage [which most m/h do have.]

(Sorry, just thinking out loud here. Irrelevant, I'm sure.)

From my experience, often time drug dealers like to be secluded also. Misty may have brought more attention and people to MH than rc had w/o her.
