NL Indicted for these murders
Investigation of NL connected to these cases.
Families requested investigation.
NL excluded from these cases.
Families at Lyon meeting 4/27/18. 5/18/18 update: The families of the missing will meet again in September, 2018 to review the investigations.
One of 40 cases being investigated by the Ariane Cell group.

Nordahl Lelandais in April 2001, he joined the 132nd dog battalion of Suippes (Marne). NL was 19 years old at the beginning of his first stay in January 2003 in French Guyana. He participated in guard missions within his battalion, as part of two short-term missions. He was 22 at the end of his second stay on Guyanese soil. NL would be discharged in 2007, at the age of 24, for psychological disorders.
He had enlisted for five years, he only lasted four, and was struck off in April 2005. Re another article says: He will have had time to obtain a basic certificate of dog handler, to perform two missions of four month was stationed in Suippes (Marne), in the 132nd Army Dog Battalion, between 2001 and 2007.

The ex-military is "noticed" in October 2008, with two accomplices, engaging in a battle of eggs and fruits in a supermarket, by burning tricolor flags, and a restaurant in Paladru (Isère). He will be sentenced to one year in prison, but received a sentence adjustment.
Under an electronic bracelet starting April 2009. He was released on parole in October 2010.
Per Twitter reporter: He was never effectively in prison, he 'served' 12 months with an ankle bracelet (April 2009 to April 2010). Reporter: Le Midi Libre published an article with the testimony of a friend of Lelandais. He tells that the latter regularly came to Montpellier to party between 2008 and 2012.
Wondering "what" day he was released from ankle bracelet, as Adrien Fiorello was killed; was he anxious to kill again on the 6th?

Estelle Mouzin
, 9, disappeared on 9 January 2003 in Guermantes (Seine-et-Marne), around 6 pm between her house and her school. Nordahl Lelandais was 19 years old, he was at the military camp of Suippes (Marne), 150 kilometers away but was sent on a mission to the East at the time of the disappearance.
In the Estelle Mouzin case, it was enough for the investigators to question the army to learn that he was on a mission in Guyana at the time of the girl's disappearance in 2003 in Seine-et-Marne. Excluded: File is closed.
Serial killer Michel Fourniret has confessed to the murder of Estelle Mouzin in 2003.

Nordahl started his dog training business in Chambéry in February 2010, business can be placed near the Chambéry train station starting in 2010. According to Google Maps, it is only 550 meters away: a 7 minute walk, or a 3 minute drive. The Chambéry train station was said to be the last location where Adrien Fiorello's phone pinged. The head office of this company was located 317 rue Nicolas Parent - 73000 Chambery In 2010, Nordahl Lalandais: *was on ankle monitor from April 2009 to January 2010
The articles I could find just say that he was condemned to 1 year of ankle bracelet at the end of April 2009. However, pursuant to the Criminal procedure code, there is an automatic 3-month reduction of sentence for the first year (and more if the person has a job prospect or resumes studies, the goal being reinsertion). It means that NL was probably without his ankle bracelet end of January 2010 at the latest. *was somewhere with an ankle monitor from April 2009 to January 2010 *registered the start of his dog training company in Chambéry in February 2010 *became depressed and passed a while in the psychiatric hospital in Chambéry OR was an out-patient from 2012 to 2013.

Adlène Kifani,
18 - one of the oldest cases - who no longer gave any sign of life after making a brief call to 17 [ police help!] number after leaving her family home to meet with his friends & have a drink at a bar in Portes-lès-Valence (Drôme) on 16 April, 2009 only a few dozen meters away.
A few days later, the Valence Public Prosecutor's Office opened a judicial investigation for kidnapping and sequestration.
On Ariane cell list.

Rachid Rameche,
disappeared in 2009 June 10, in Bassens (Savoie) while he was in a psychiatric institution. He withdrew the amount of his adult disability benefits before he disappeared. He was staying in the same centre that Lucie Roux and Nordahl Lelandais attended between 2012 and 2013.
Request from family to investigate. At the beginning of the year (2018), the file on the death of his daughter was transmitted to a cell of the national gendarmerie, established to work on Nordhal Lelandais.
Family at 4/27/18 Lyon meeting.
Rachid was seen and identified in Strasbourg in 2009 after his disappearance. He may be in Belgium where he was fined in 2009 and 2014.

Coralie Moussu
- the autopsy of the body of the 32-year-old woman, found in the Rhône in December, reveals that she did not drown. The investigators are back to square one and are now focusing on the criminal track. Coralie Moussu's car, a black Nissan Micra with 2899 YZ 30 registration, car has never been found. The young woman was last seen inside this vehicle on the morning of November 6, 2009. She had just dropped her daughter off at her mother's house for two hours, while she was preparing the exam to take a CAP [Certificate of Professional Competence] early childhood.
Now on list for investigation.
May 11, 2018 Update: The Gard are taking a closer look into this case with any link to NL.

Nicolas Suppo,
30 years old, a technical specialist disappeared on 15 September 2010 near Echirolles. He disappeared during his lunch break. His coworkers saw him at work in the morning. He had neither his identity papers nor his blue card with him, France Bleu Isère reported. The case was closed without further action in 2014, then reopened at the beginning of the year (2018) by the Grenoble court.
Earlier: Probably not a suspect; same region as NL; preliminary investigation. Now on list of: possible link; verification under way.

On Ariane cell list.

Adrien Fiorello,
a 22-year-old student who disappeared on 6 October 2010 in Firminy (Loire) while he was on his way to the university in Chambéry (Savoie). The young man's cell phone last pinged in Chambéry (train station) at 5:37 p.m. on October 6, 2010. We don't know if it was ever physically located. Chambéry is where Nordahl Lelandais had a dog breeding business at that time. He was supposed to be in Saint-Étienne, not Chambéry, the day he vanished. Saint-Étienne is where he went to university classes. How his phone ended up in
Chambéry is still a mystery. The two cities are about 150 kilometers apart.
3/19/18 Update: According to information from BFM TV, the gendarmes will investigate the disappearance of Adrien Fiorello after the prosecutor's office in Saint-Etienne requested the prosecutor's office in Chambéry to formally attach the file. An initial investigation had determined that his mobile phone had pinged in Chambéry. Nordahl Lelandais was living in Chambéry at the time. The court has ordered further
investigations.

Nelly Balmain
was 29 when she leaves the family home of Saint-Jean-en-Royans (Drôme) on a scooter, without reappearing. She disappears on 8 August 2011. On 11 January 2018, the Public Prosecutor's Office in
Valence reopened the investigation into the disappearance of Nelly Balmain, aged 29, which had been closed in 2015. The young woman had left her parents' home in Saint-Jean-en-Royans never to reappear, her scooter was never found.
Earlier: Verification in progress; request from family to investigate. On 11 January 2018, the prosecutor also reopened this investigation. Now on list for investigation. 4/27/18 met with investigating Judge for 4 hours.

Jean-Christophe Morin,
23, disappeared on 9-10 September 2011 during an electro party at Tamié Fort in Albertville (Savoie). The gendarmes only found his backpack. In L'Obs, Jean-Christophe Morin's lawyer states that his family still has two telephones that belonged to him and that they have not yet been seized by the courts.

Kévin Fauvel,
27, on the night of 1-2-3 April 2012, left the community of Jansiac, located in Châteauneuf-Miravail, in the Jabron Valley. Since then, his family has no news. Jansiac is a small group trying
to live autonomously in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. He was supposed to hitch a ride to his mother's house in Brittany. Ten days later, his father found his identity papers in Jansiac, without any further explanation about this mysterious disappearance. The gendarmes closed their investigation in March 2017. It was reopened last February, as Kevin may have crossed the Rhône Valley and Isère, places frequented by Nordahl Lelandais.

2/12/20: NL has been ruled out as suspect for this case.

Malik Boutvillain,
32, disappeared on 6 May 2012 in Echirolles (Isère). He was out jogging.
Earlier: Probably not a suspect; same region as NL; preliminary investigation. Now on list of: possible suspect; verification under way. The investigation had been closed but the Grenoble prosecutor
reopened it in early February 2018. He suffers from schizophrenia.

Hugo Raffi,
18 years old, who left home in flip-flops, without a mobile phone and without papers in Albertville (Savoie) in 15, June 2012.
Family at 4/27/18 Lyon meeting.
On Ariane cell list.

Ahmed Hamadou,
45, disappeared in 7-8 September 2012 at Fort Tamié (Savoie). According to this 2012 article Yan and Ahmed (who knew each other since one week) arrived together in the car at 4am, then Yan got into two fights with the festival security, lost his cell phone and broke his glasses. He left quite hurriedly alone in his car, leaving Ahmed behind (4 witnesses confirm this). He arrived at a friend's place at 6am, telling him he went to the gendarmerie (for his cell phone?). They tried to call Ahmed but could not reach him. Then Yan left and disappeared for 15 days. "Hamadou was from Le-Pont-de-Beauvoisin, he knew Nordahl," his lawyer adds. Nordahl Lelandais grew up partly in this commune of Isère, it was also there that the wedding party was organised during which Maëlys disappeared last summer.
On list for investigation. Possible link; verification under way.
Family Attorney at 4/27/18 Lyon meeting.
9/8/18 Update: Amateur video does not show NL in it. But still on list for investigation.
On Ariane cell list.
A skull found in mid-October, 2020 by a walker under the Fort de Tamié (Savoie) is very likely that of the 40 year-old, who disappeared after a music festival in September 2012.

Lucie Roux, 43,
disappears on 16 September 2012 while residing in the psychiatric centre in Bassens in Chambéry (Savoie). She was treated from 2006 to 2012 at Bassens for depression and had 3 roommates. And it seems that Nordahl Lelandais was followed by the medical-psychological center of Chambéry from 2012 to 2013. The 43 years old, this woman [Lucie Roux] was due to leave the psychiatric hospital of Bassens in the months to come. On September 16, 2012,
Lucie had not told her three roommates where she wanted to go. Equipped with a small backpack, she left without her mobile phone, papers or credit card. The investigation showed that the day before she went to a DIY store to buy plywood boards, nails and screws in cash before being taken by taxi to the Monts district in Chambéry in a forest. That's where the investigators lost track of her. She had returned home in the evening without the equipment before disappearing the next day "between 4 and 7 pm".
January, 2018 Request from family to investigate.
This week (4/21/18), the Roux family's lawyer, Me Christian Saint-André, wrote to the public prosecutor of Chambéry, Thierry Dran: "I was contacted by a friend of Lucie Roux. She says she's ready to testify to the investigators. According to her, Lucie had lunch several times before she disappeared, with another friend and Nordahl Lelandais. These meals would have been taken in a common area of the hospital." The lawyer considered the information serious enough to alert the court.
4/26/18: The lawyer for this woman's family recently wrote to the public prosecutor of Chambéry, Thierry Dran: according to a testimony he received, the disappeared woman was hospitalized in the same place as Nordahl Lelandais between 2012 and 2013 and, from the same source, they had lunch together several times in this hospital.

11/20/19 Update: The file had been selected by the Ariane cell of the gendarmes investigating Nordahl Lelandais.

The parquet floor of Chambéry closed it without further action. Stéphane Chemin, 33 years old, who suffers from schizophrenia, disappeared on 24 September 2012 in Bourg-d' Oisans region (Isère).
Earlier: Probably not a suspect; same region as NL; preliminary investigation. Now on list for investigation: possible link; verification under way. The public prosecutor's office of Grenoble reopened at the beginning of February, 2018 the investigation into the disappearance of Stéphane Chemin, 33 years old, in the Bourg d'Oisans. He disappeared after running away from the ambulance that was transporting him to the hospital.

"According to information from Dauphiné Libéré, Lelandais was treated until early 2013 by the center of alcoholism in Chambéry because of his heavy dependence on alcohol. He was also treated for depression at the medical-psychological center of Chambéry." Nordahl Lelandais was treated by the medical-psychological center of Chambéry from 2012 to 2013."

Florent Bonnet,
37 years old, who disappeared on 18 January 2014 in Bourg-Saint-Maurice (Savoie). He was on a motorcycle and his two-wheeler was found near the Siaix tunnel, with a helmet on it.
Probably not a victim of NL. Request from family to investigate. Now on list list to be investigated.

Caroline Rivollier, 29 years old 2014 May who lived in Lyon, had told her roommates that she was leaving for a few days but she never came back. What intrigues the investigators is that her credit card was used in
Chambéry three nights in a row.
Her family has asked to reactivate the investigation, according to the ARPD.

Eve Monteil,
49 years old, on 25 August 2014, in Bourg-en-Bresse (Ain). Lucas Tronche, then 15 years old, had disappeared on 18 March 2015, at 5.10 pm, Lucas had planned to go on his kick scooter to a bus stop in the commune of Bagnols-sur-Cèze, where he would take a coach to the public swimming pool in Laudun-l’Ardoise for swimming practice with his 17-year-old brother, Valentin. Valentin left before Lucas, expecting Lucas to join him at the bus stop. Lucas left the family home and locked the door but did not turn up at the bus stop. Valentin attempted to contact Lucas at around 5.30 pm, but Lucas’s mobile phone was switched off. Technical analysis would later reveal that Lucas’s phone was turned off at 5.14 pm, a few minutes before he left the house. Lucas left without his swimming gear, but did leave with a rucksack containing very few items. He did not take any money, a sleeping bag or a knife with him – items that, as a keen scout with a good knowledge of outdoor survival, he would have known to take if he had been planning to leave home. His intentions after leaving the house remain unknown.
Possible link; verification under way.
2/27/18: Checks on the telephone and bank accounts of Nordahl Lelandais were to be carried out in connection with the disappearance of Lucas Tronche in Bagnols-sur-Cèze. Indeed, as we revealed at the end of December, 2017, the suspect has family in the Gard, not far from Bagnols. This week, we learn from our Ebdo colleagues that no link on the telephony side can be connected to Nordahl Lelandais in Lucas' disappearance. And according to the regional daily newspaper, the mobile phone data indicated the presence of the alleged killer of Maëlys in Isère that day. There is nothing to date that can link Nordahl Lelandais to Lucas, Antoine Zoia or Coralie Moussu, the boss of the Nîmes public prosecutor's office confirms.
Update: Police and judges are carrying out investigations this Thursday morning [March 14] in Bagnols-sur-Cèze into the case of Lucas Tronche near the home of the teenager who has been missing since March 2015. NL has been excluded in the disappearance of Lucas.

"Karine (not her real name) and Nordahl met in May 2015 through a dating site. Both are passionate about dogs. Nordahl presents himself as a "warrior" who was in the Legion. A lie. Karine falls under his spell. Lelandais tells her that she is the love of his life, that he even wants to have children with her. But Karine soon realizes that he is cheating on her with other women. And in December 2016, she decides to break up. Lelandais takes this very badly.

Monique Thibert,
62, councillor of Hauteville, suddenly disappeared during a hike on 2 June 2015. However, the facts did not occur on our territory, but in the Grand Morgon massif, in the Hautes Alpes. Monique was a bit ahead of the group she was part of, and the alert was given very quickly. Despite the deployment of a very vast search operation on a clearly identified territory, she was never found. Tuesday around 14:30-15:00. She was hiking in the commune of Crots (Hautes Alpes) when she was lost from sight by her friends during the descent of the Grand Morgon, sector of the relay and the Barn. Crots, where Monique Thibert disappeared, is 200 kms south of Chambéry. She lived in Hauteville Lompnes, in the Bugey area, (where Anne-Charlotte Poncin
disappeared), 70 kms north of Chambéry.
Family at 4/27/18 Lyon meeting.
2/12/20: NL has been ruled as suspect in this case.

Nordine Seghiri,
49, disappeared on 10 July 2015 from a hospital in Chambéry (Savoie).

Thomas Rauschkolb
: Sunday (December 27, 2015) around 4:50 p.m., the father of an 18-year-old man contacted the gendarmes to report the disappearance of his son. The latter was last seen around 2:30 a.m., during the night from Saturday to Sunday while leaving the "Studio 54" nightclub in Grésy-sur-Aix. The young man left the nightclub, leaving behind his jacket. The gendarmes immediately established a search perimeter around the nightclub, especially to the bridge that spans the Sierroz at this location." Thomas R.'s body was found the next day, in the river. Grésy-sur-Aix is about 25 minutes north of Chambéry, by car. Curious fact: after leaving the nightclub, he takes the opposite direction and follows a dead end passageway. At the end of this alley, he stepped over a fence as he was maybe trying to escape something. In his race, he looses a shoe and falls 14 meters below. His belt was found caught in the grid on the garden side. Why has he taken off his belt? There were marks on his phalanges. As Jean-Christophe Morin, he seemed afraid of someone.

12/17/19 Update: A judicial investigation against X has recently been opened, four years after the death of Thomas Rauschkolb, found in a river in Savoy. After a complaint filed with a civil action, his father has recently obtained the opening of a judicial investigation against X for murder. In other words, an investigating judge will now have to shed light on the death.
March, 2021: The judiciary has ordered the exhumation of the body of an 18-year-old man, Thomas Rauschkolb, who died in 2015 in Savoie, to carry out an autopsy, and to examine the possibility of homicide by Nordahl Lelandais. Until now, the death was attributed to an accidental fall into a river after leaving a discotheque. The body of Thomas Rauschkolb was found on 28 December 2015, on the banks of the Sierroz, in Grésy-sur-Aix (Savoie).

Anne-Charlotte Poncin,
30 years old, disappeared on 5 January 2016 in Ambérieu-en-Bugey (Ain). In the morning, she leaves her home on foot to go downtown to look for work.
Request from family to investigate; now on list for investigation. 4/27/18: "The Ambérieux gendarmes asked the Ariane cell to carry out checks," a source close to the file told Le Figaro.
Family at 4/27/18 Lyon meeting.

Antoine Zoia,
16-year-old teenager has not been found since 1 March 2016. He disappeared in Clarensac, near Nîmes, also in the Gard. Antoine was last seen buying a packet of cigarettes from a tobacconist’s shop.
His whereabouts remain unknown and all lines of investigation are being considered. An investigation was launched to establish whether there could be a link between these two disappearances of teenage boys (Lucase Tronche) with similar characteristics from nearby locations in under a year.
10/1/18 Update: His body found on 29 September 2018, a few kilometres from the centre of the village in the Gard. Hunter found his body hanging from tree.
Possible link; verification under way. Now on list for investigation.
5/11/18 update: There is nothing to date that can link Nordahl Lelandais to Lucas, Antoine or Coralie Moussu, the boss of the Nîmes public prosecutor's office confirms.

Ilhan Sahingoz,
39 years old missing from Albertville since 11 April 2016.

Olivier Charpe
, 59, never returned from a mountain bike ride on 12 August 2016 in Saint-Romans (Isère).

Georgette Amat Chantoux (Georgette Bonnet)
, 79 years old, residing in Lumbin. She was reported missing in October 2016, but her phone had not been active since 9 September 2016. Georgette lived alone and had little contact with her family. According to the neighbours, she used go to the mountains to pick blueberries (not mushrooms) in the Belledonne Massif. Her car was found there, in a parking lot. It had been there for weeks. "In the Bonnet case, the only reason for the reopening of the investigation is the geographical proximity (a distance of about 15 kilometers) between the area of [her] disappearance and the places of discovery of Arthur Noyer's bones, in Montmélian, of which Nordahl Lelandais is suspected of murder."
Earlier: Probably not suspect; same region as NL; preliminary investigation. Now on list of: possible link; verification under way.

Éric Foray,
47, disappeared on 16 September 2016, shortly after noon, after he had recently done some shopping in Chatuzange-le-Goubet (Drôme). Request from family to investigate. Thursday 8 March 2018 from the prosecutor's office in Valence have opened & will explore this investigation. Now on list for invstigation.
4/9/18 update: A link has been established between Eric & NL. In NL's address book, investigators found the name of a family member of Eric's. The only connection that could link Eric Foray to Nordahl Lelandais is their respective jobs at some point in their lives. Eric was a representative in wine products and Nordahl Lelandais was a driver and delivery driver in a lemonade company that delivered water and spirits to restaurants and various businesses in the region.
The name found in a notebook of Nordahl Lelandais would be that of a cousin of the disappeared, according to France 3. It remains to be seen how and why Lelandais could have noted this surname. According to several media reports, the name of Eric Foray's cousin was discovered by investigators in Nordahl Lelandais' address book. But neither his family nor his companion seem to know this person.

End of relationship with Karine - December, 2016

Arthur Noyer
, 23 years old, disappeared on 11-12 April 2017 in Chambéry. The night of the young soldier's disappearance, the mobile phones of Lelandais and the corporal triggered several relays in the Chambéry region at the same time. This supports the thesis that both men were traveling in the same car, namely the Audi A3 from Lelandais. The vehicle was filmed by a video surveillance camera in Chambéry. Arthur Noyer disappeared as he hitchhiked around 4 a. m. to get back to his barracks after a night spent in a disco. The investigators said he got into Nordahl Lelandeis' car. On February 5, 2018, Nordahl admitted to having picked him up without confessing that he had murdered him.
Indicted on 12/20/17 for this murder. 3/29/18 confessed to killing Noyer. During the hearing on 29 March, 2018 NL spontaneously admitted that he gave a lift to Arthur who was very drunk (très alcoolisé). A fight erupted (BFM says that so far it is unknown if in the car or out), and NL violently punched Arthur who fell and died. Then NL transported Arthur body in a remote place.

Adrien Mourialmé
, 24 years old, disappeared in 5 July 2017 on the shores of Lake Annecy (Haute-Savoie). The young man disappeared without taking his belongings. His bank account and phone have not been active since July 4th. He left most of his belongings at the hotel where he was working as a cook in Talloires-Montmin (Haute-Savoie), and vanished. 2/24/18: The study of telephony, in the case of the young cook, is completed. Paris Match has learned that it has given nothing. "Nor does it mean that Nordahl Lelandais was not on the scene," said Belgian family lawyer Stéphane Decamp. He could have turned off his phone well before the fact. Mr.
Decamp hopes that the investigation will not be abandoned, despite this element." Found 9 months later on April 6, 2018 hanging from a tree in Talloires-Montmin.
Possible link; verification under way. Now on list for investigation. Prosecutors declare NL probably not involved with this crime.
4/9/18 Update: The public prosecutor's office in Annecy has not ruled out any possibility to date. 4/27/18: In this case, the body of the 24-year-old Belgian was found and the "criminal trail seems ruled out", reports L'Obs.

On July 18, 2017, a month before Maëlys' kidnapping, Nordahl becomes even more violent: "While driving his car, Lelandais sped up toward my client who was in her car, relates Gallo. She says she narrowly escaped the collision and an accident. Frightened, she decides to go to the authorities to file a complaint. But Lelandais tries to dissuade her. He follows her. "And when she arrives in front of the gendarmerie of Pont-de-Beauvoisin, Lelandais is already there," said Gallo.
But Karine does not give up. "The gendarmes took her complaint and the prosecutor's office in Chambéry filed the complaint as endangering the lives of others with immediate risk of death. Which is not minor!" exclaims Mr. Ronald Gallo, adding that this complaint has not had consequences.

Maëlys De Araujo
, 9 years old, disappeared at Pont-de-Beauvoisin in 27 August 2017. Her bones were discovery on February 14 and 15 at the foot of Mont Grêle in Savoie.
Indicted for this murder on 9/3/17; 2/14/18 confessed to killing Maëlys "accidentally" and led investigators to her body in the woods of Attignat-Oncin, on the heights of Lake Aiguebelette (Savoie) Nordahl Lelandais was indicted in the Arthur Noyer and Maëlys de Araujo cases, for which he pleaded responsiblity for an accident. He has not been implicated in any other case at this time.

The mission of this dedicated team consists of two stages. The first step is to take a closer look at Nordahl Lelandais' life course, interviewing all the judicial bases but also private service providers such as telephone operators, banks and insurance companies. In the jargon of the gendarmes, this work aims to "fix in time and space" the suspect. Concretely, it consists in finding his various addresses, the places he frequented, his employers, his friends, his banking movements, his old vehicles and mobile phones. Has it been checked anywhere? What gyms did he use? What nightclubs? The objective is to go back as far as possible in time. The thousands of data collected will then be compared with the information available to investigators on all unsolved disappearance cases, through the AnaCrim software. This 360-strong unit was created in the 1990s, when Constable Jean-François Abgrall headed the investigation unit devoted to the "murder backpacker" Francis Heaulme. Since then, the system has made possible to implicate the serial killer Patrice Alègre for certain crimes and it was used to revive the case of little Gregory, in early 2017. AnaCrim makes it possible to create relational diagrams and chronologies, even when the protagonists of a file are very numerous. Investigators have already been able to exclude Nordahl Lelandais' involvement in three cold cases: the disappearance of little Estelle Mouzin in 2003 in Guermantes (Seine-et-Marne), since he was on mission in French Guiana at that time; the Chevaline massacre in September 2012 in Savoie, and the disappearance of Lucas Tronche in March 2015 in the Gard. In this case, however, the courts are awaiting final results. "We have a number of elements that lead us to believe that he was not in the Gard at the time. But as long as we are not sure, it is an element on which we continue to work", the public prosecutor of Nîmes indicated.

I post on the Maëlys thread every now and then about Estelle Mouzin, but Maëlys' presumed murderer, Nordahl Lelandais, has been cleared in the disappearance of Estelle Mouzin early in the investigations that were started to trace his whereabouts through the years.

Estelle Mouzin disappeared aged 9. This was before Madeleine McCan was born so, imo, apart from the fact that every disappearance is unique in its own way, it is absurd that the press refers to her as the 'French Maddie'.

On Sunday night, Cécile Noyer, the mother of Corporal Arthur Noyer, whose presumed murderer is Nordahl Lelandais, posted a message on social networks.

It is the anniversary of the death of her son. Arthur Noyer disappeared in Chambéry in the night of 11 to 12 April 2017.

You are so missing from our lives

In her message, Cecile Noyer said in particular that she and her husband Didier are ready to face Nordahl Lelandais in the Savoie court: "Arthur, Tonight, the words, the feelings are tumbling, clashing. Your absence is becoming more cruel. You are missing so much from our lives. In three weeks, to the day, your assassin will have to face us. We are ready. Tender kisses fly to you. With all our love.

Meurtre d'Arthur Noyer : un cluster au centre pénitentiaire de Saint-Quentin Fallavier, où est détenu Nordhal Lelandais

The penitentiary centre of Saint-Quentin-Fallavier was declared "cluster" on Wednesday 28 April with 6 cases of covid among the penitentiary staff, five days before the opening of the trial of Nordhal Lelandais for the murder of Arthur Noyer.

The institution declared a cluster should, as required by the protocol of the Regional Health Agency, implement a massive screening operation.

With regards to the Covid-19 pandemic, the health authorities in France use the term "cluster" when at least 3 confirmed or probable cases occur within a 7-day period who belong to the same community or have participated in the same gathering of people, whether they know each other or not.

Wonder what the impact will be on the Noyer trial that is planned from May 3 thru May 12.

Procès de Nordahl Lelandais : "Il a pu y avoir des défaillances dans l'enquête"

Nordahl Lelandais on trial: "There may have been shortcomings in the investigation"

The first trial of Nordahl Lelandais begins on Monday 3 May in Chambéry. The former dog handler will be tried for the murder of Arthur Noyer in 2017. The lawyer of the victim's family, Bernard Boulloud, hopes to learn more about the circumstances of the tragedy but also about the shortcomings of the investigation.

In the night of 11 to 12 April 2017, Arthur Noyer, 23, corporal at the Barby (Savoie) barracks, vanished at the exit of a nightclub. Eight months later, the courts indicted Nordahl Lelandais, also suspected of the death of little Maëlys in August of the same year. The former dog handler, now 38, will first be tried for the murder of the corporal, whom he had picked up at the time, from this Monday 3 May in Chambéry, before a second trial in a few months. Many questions will hover over this first judicial appointment: has the investigation failed? Did Lelandais slip through the cracks for too long? For Marianne, the lawyer of Arthur Noyer's parents, Bernard Boulloud, takes stock.

Marianne: What do you expect from this trial?

Bernard Boulloud: With the family of Arthur Noyer, we do not expect much from Nordahl Lelandais. We are almost convinced that he will not tell the truth. On the other hand, we hope that the truth will come from other sources: from the witnesses and experts who will be heard on the stand, but also from material elements, telephone data, autopsy conclusions... Faced with the different versions of the facts given by Nordahl Lelandais, faced with the lies that he has piled up like a mille-feuille (wafer), we are also counting on the innermost conviction of the jurors.

Specifically, Nordahl Lelandais asserts that he picked up Arthur Noyer that night, then that he fought with him, that there was an exchange of blows. Why is this not credible in your eyes?

Without going into details, the forensic doctor himself does not believe this version. In particular because of the state in which Arthur Noyer was before his disappearance, that is to say, when he left the nightclub. Even if he was not dead drunk, he had consumed alcohol, he was tired. One blow from Nordahl Lelandais - a former military man who used to box - and Arthur Noyer would have collapsed. Why then did he take twelve? Moreover, during the reconstruction, when Nordahl Lelandais repeated his gestures, the gendarme who held the dummy symbolizing Arthur had difficulty remaining on his feet.

The mystery still remains about the motivations of Nordahl Lelandais. If it was not a fight that went wrong, then why did he kill Arthur Noyer?

I have always said that Nordahl Lelandais was "out hunting". The way he toured around Chambéry at such a late hour shows that he was not looking for a pack of cigarettes but for prey, be it a woman, a man or a child. He wanted to satisfy a sexual need. That evening he had already been rejected by a girlfriend. We don't know what happened in the car that night, but it's obvious that Arthur Noyer was not into homosexual relationships.

In order to better trace Nordahl Lelandais' criminal career, shouldn't there have been a single trial for both cases, Arthur Noyer and Maëlys?

I don't think so. The Ministry of Justice considered it, but we made it known that we wanted two different trials. We wanted each family to be able to mourn and we felt that neither trial should overshadow the other, if I may say so.

After Nordahl Lelandais was implicated in the Maëlys and Arthur Noyer cases, the justice system, the gendarmerie and the associations dug up unsolved disappearances in Rhône-Alpes. To date, the former dog handler has not been implicated in any of these cases. Should we think that Arthur Noyer is the first victim of Lelandais?

Very sincerely, I think that Arthur Noyer is not the first victim of Nordahl Lelandais. The modus operandi, well oiled, controlled, is exactly the same as for little Maëlys. Each time, he turns off his phone, he switches it to "aeroplane mode". You have to have this habit already! When you kill by chance, you don't calculate to that extent. Maybe he had already tried, I say maybe. And each time, he gives the same version: it's not his fault, it's the other one who didn't behave, he panicked, he slapped him hard... If there had only been Arthur, I could have believed him, but there was Maëlys.

Interview with lawyer Boulloud, continued

You are the lawyer of families in several of these unsolved disappearance cases in the Rhône-Alpes region. Do you still suspect his involvement in some of these cases?

He cannot be blamed for all the disappearances. But the question arises in the case of Thomas Rauschkolb, a young man found dead in a ravine, outside a nightclub in Grésy-sur-Aix in Savoie, in December 2015. There are several elements common to the cases that brought Lelandais before the court: a party place, at night, a 20 year old boy, weakened because he had been drinking. Once again, the body is found at the foot of a ravine. We know that Lelandais has been to this nightclub before. That on that day he made four trips between Chambéry and Aiguebelette, where he had a cabin, and that he was therefore less than ten kilometres from the place where Thomas Rauschkolb's body was found. Furthermore, an ex-girlfriend of Lelandais told the press that at that time she had just broken up with Lelandais. And that at the time of the Arthur Noyer and Maëlys cases, Lelandais had also experienced a romantic break-up. I will question this young woman on this subject as she will also testify before the court of assizes.

Do you think that some of these disappearances could be linked to another killer in the region?

In the Valence region, another predator may have been active. I am thinking of the case of Nelly Balmain, who disappeared while riding her scooter in Saint-Jean-en-Royans on 8 August 2011, and the case of Eric Foray, who disappeared on board his 4x4 in Chatuzange-le-Goubet on 16 September 2016. Geographically, the two disappearances are very close and each time neither the person nor the vehicle was found.

Interview with lawyer Boulloud, final part

The gendarmerie has set up a special cell, called "Ariane", to cross-reference Lelandais' whereabouts with 900 disappearances, suspicious deaths or unsolved crimes in the Rhône-Alpes region. What is your assessment of these investigations?

The results? Zero. Originally, when the gendarmerie created this unit, all the families thought, as did I, that it was an excellent initiative and that it would allow us to move things forward. General Lecouffe [then deputy director of the gendarmerie's judicial police, editor's note] was quick to say that they had collected 900 files to compare them... But as his media interventions continued, we started to become disillusioned. One day, Lecouffe announced that there were only 40 files being studied, but he never said which ones. So I wrote to him to politely ask for information. Not being "a six-week-old rabbit", I knew that he would reply that it was up to the courts to inform us. That is exactly what he replied. So we never knew the conclusions of the Ariane cell.

Today, many families are asking the question: was this cell created to form a smoke screen? To hide what? Perhaps the dysfunctions observed in the various investigations into these unsolved disappearances. Whose interests did "Ariane" serve? Those of the families or those of the gendarmerie?

Did the investigation into the disappearance of Arthur Noyer also suffer from dysfunctions?

As far as the search for clues is concerned, it is rather an exemplary case. The prosecutor did his utmost to collect videos, boundary markers, soundings of water bodies... He also quickly transmitted the procedure to an investigating judge. This efficiency is perhaps linked to the fact that Arthur was a military man and that the military provided the means: helicopter, dog, frogmen... On the other hand, there may have been failures in the use of data, especially telephone data.

Arthur Noyer disappeared during the night of 11 to 12 April 2017. A skull was found on the following 7 September. And yet, connections were not made. We ourselves were not notified. The skull was sent to Lyon for examination. At the beginning of December, the analyses only indicated that it was a human skull, male. It was not until mid-December that genetic analyses were carried out. And it was only on 19 December 2017 that I received a call from the judge informing me that it was Arthur's skull. Had I been kept informed, I would have requested the DNA analysis as early as September. This delay was detrimental to the discovery of Arthur's body, we could not prevent the disappearance of evidence or detect certain fractures. If we had known that it was Arthur's skull in September, we would probably have pushed the search for the remains of the body.

Another possible failure: why were Nordahl Lelandais' two phone lines not identified earlier? On the night of Arthur Noyer's disappearance, on the road between Chambéry and Saint-Baldoph, there was no crowd on the road. Why was it not spotted earlier that Lelandais' two phone lines were moving at the same time as Arthur's? If there is a technical explanation, I do not know it and I will ask the question at the trial. What was discovered in the autumn could have been discovered before, in my opinion. And this raises the question: could Lelandais have been arrested as early as the summer of 2017?

Six supervisors tested positive for Covid-19 in the prison where Nordahl Lelandais is being held – ScoopCube

April 29, 2021

The basics In Saint-Quentin-Fallavier (Isère) prison, where Nordahl Lelandais is being held, six guards tested positive for Covid-19. Not a single inmate has tested positive for the virus so far.

Six positive cases of Covid-19 among the guards have been discovered since Tuesday in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier prison in Isère, where Nordahl Lelandais is being held, the prison administration confirmed on Wednesday, which speaks of a “perfectly mastered” situation. . This epidemic focus was reported to the regional health authority (ARS) on Wednesday morning, as the procedure requires, the administration confirms information from the regional daily Dauphiné Libéré. No case has been reported among detainees, and this cluster currently “has no impact on detention or judicial removals,” adds the same source, particularly that of Nordahl Lelandais.
[.....]
The latter, who is being held in solitary confinement, must be removed from his cell starting Monday to appear before the Assize Court of Savoy for the 2017 murder of Arthur Noyer. The prison authorities saw no obstacle to his coming next week that judicial withdrawals “for sick people” would be stopped. “At the moment there is nothing to indicate that the organization of the Nordahl Lelandais trial is at risk due to the situation in Saint-Quentin,” said Nathalie Hermitte, judge at the Chambéry courthouse, who is responsible for communication around the trial.

10.oo am: The trial before the court of assizes of Savoy will open

Facing Nordahl Lelandais, the civil parties have installed a large portrait of Arthur Noyer, just in front of the bench of their lawyer Me Boulloud.

Cécile and Didier, the parents of Arthur Noyer, and their son Quentin are on the bench of the civil parties, ready to face Nordahl Lelandais.

a-l-interieur-de-la-cour-d-assises-de-la-savoie-photo-le-dl-thierry-guillot-1620026833.jpg

10:15: The hearing begins.

The court has made its entrance. The hearing begins. Nordahl Lelandais also makes his entrance into the dock. The emotion is very strong for the civil parties. It is the first time he has been seen publicly for four years. Dressed in light-coloured trousers and a blue shirt. He declares his identity at the request of the president. His hair is greying. He also seems to have put on some weight.

10:35: The court has installed the jury

The public prosecutor and the defence have used their right of objection to compose the jury. The jurors took the oath, removing their masks so that the accused could see their faces. Nordahl Lelandais stood up at this point, also removing his mask.

10:40: Mr Jakubowicz immediately makes a statement on a procedural incident

"The media has already talked too much about this case. For the lawyer, the jurors already know too much about the case they are going to have to judge: "You have been bombarded with information for years."
"The news channels have already made him a serial killer and have already convicted him. "My only weapon is the code of criminal procedure." The lawyer says he wants to support the work of justice.

10:55am: "He is no longer the same man [...] He was a zombie," the lawyer of Nordahl Lelandais raises an exception of nullity on a psychiatric expertise

The lawyer of Nordahl Lelandais raises an exception of nullity "on a report of psychiatric expertise". An expertise ordered in December 2017 and filed in December 2018. For the counsel, this report "is dated" and the state of mind of his client has evolved: " He is no longer the same man.". The lawyer from Lyon also believes that his client was seen by experts while he was hospitalized in a psychiatric unit in prison: "He was a zombie."

11:05: Mr Jakubowicz accuses journalists of wanting to "create a buzz".

At the same time, the intervention of one of the psychiatric experts on a TV set during the investigation poses: "a problem of impartiality" for the lawyer.

He has already pleaded in the same way before the Grenoble investigating chamber (which did not grant his request) in the Maëlys case, concerning this same problem of psychiatric expertise.

The lawyer accused the journalists of having wanted to "create a buzz". He cannot digest the term "serial killer" used in certain reports. He said that "serial killers are not defined as those who have committed three or more assassinations". The president of the court pointed out that he was beginning to address the substance of the case.

11:25: Mr Jakubowicz has already pleaded for almost 45 minutes on this exception of nullity

He apologises to the court for "taking up time on the debates" but the defence intends to take the lead on this first day of the hearing.

11:30am: "You had an essential right, that of living," Me Boulloud, the lawyer for the civil parties speaks in front of the portrait of Arthur Noyer

It is now Me Boulloud, the lawyer of the civil parties, who speaks: "This starts very loud!" He asserted that they would not obstruct the application of the code of criminal procedure. "But I would like to recall a certain number of things.

He addresses the portrait of Arthur Noyer: "What remains of you in your grave, that is to say not much, must be looked back upon. You had an essential right, that of living.

"Nordahl Lelandais will remain Nordahl Lelandais. His personality, it is he who will reveal it to you. There is no need for expertise. For the counsel, there is nothing to say about the impartiality of the expert."

11.45: The Attorney General, Thérèse Brunisso, now takes the floor

"I will not do the court's magistrates the injustice of explaining the law to them. The public prosecutor emphasised that it was the defence that had demanded and hoped for: "with insistence and perseverance, and that is its right, this expert opinion. So why ask for it to be annulled today? Because the conclusions do not satisfy Mr Lelandais. We are not fooled."

However, from a legal point of view, the public prosecutor considers that the expert report in question is null and void. And she produces in parallel, the psychiatric expertise made in the Maëlys case: "Without any disloyalty. They are not in contradiction with those carried out by the first panel of experts."

12.10pm: The hearing has been suspended

The morning was spent entirely on the procedural incident raised by Mr Jakubowicz. The defence and the prosecution have already had some tense exchanges. The court withdrew to deliberate. The hearing has been suspended.

12:45: The exception of nullity raised by the lawyer of Nordahl Lelandais is admissible

The court declares that the exception of nullity raised by the defense is admissible. The expert report in question is declared null and void, as are the summonses to the experts. The exhibits submitted by the public prosecutor are admissible.

12.55 p.m.: The President proceeds with the reading of the summary of the order for indictment

The President now proceeds to read the summary of the order of indictment. He returns to the facts of the night of 11 to 12 April 2017 with the disappearance of Corporal Arthur Noyer. He recalled the main lines of the gendarmerie investigation that led to the confrontation of Nordahl Lelandais in December 2017, who was already under investigation in the Maëlys case in Isère.

This reading marks the real opening of this criminal trial, after a morning devoted to a procedural incident.

13:30: The evening of the murder of Arthur Noyer, Nordahl Lelandais sought to satisfy a sexual need according to the synthesis

The reading of the summary highlights that on the evening of the facts, it is likely that Nordahl Lelandais was seeking to satisfy a sexual need and was looking for a partner. The president recalled that on the same day, he had exchanged sexual messages with a man and then a woman. The latter had even asked him to "calm his impulse". This reading lends credence to the thesis of the civil party who is convinced that he was looking for "prey" on the evening of the events. Lelandais has always maintained that the fight with Corporal Noyer did not have a sexual motive.

Since the beginning of the reading by the president of the court, Nordahl Lelandais remains impassive in the box of the accused.

13:40: Nordahl Lelandais: "Yes, I caused the death of Arthur Noyer, but without wanting to kill him

This is the statement of the accused after the reading of the president of the court.

The hearing has been suspended. It will resume at 14:45 hrs.

Le Dauphiné Liveblog

14:50: The session resumes

The session resumes in Chambéry. The personality investigator begins her testimony on the stand.

15:00: Lelandais' personality

The personality investigator met him on three occasions in 2017 and 2018. He was 35 years old at the time. "He always cooperated during the three interviews."

She found no major difficulties in his childhood and adolescence. He has a brother and a half-sister. He says he was brought up to be polite and happy and says he was never abused. The family's summer holidays were in Spain and Nordahl Lelandais enjoyed many leisure activities. His mother described him as a gifted but quiet teenager. His schooling was normal and he did not repeat a year.

In 2001, he joined the army and began training as a dog handler. He spent several periods in French Guiana. His military file mentions good physical abilities but underlines mood swings. His military career deteriorated. He was discharged on 26 January 2005.

15:08: An irregular career path

When asked by the investigator about his irregular career path, Lelandais replied: "I would have preferred to have a job in a company for life".

In 2010, he created a micro-business in dog training, without success.

From 2010 to 2014, he worked in the delivery sector but was often off sick.

From 2014 to 2016, he worked as a temporary labourer. He lived with his parents in Domessin but his half-sister explains that he was not a "Tanguy". [ Tanguy is a chacter from a movie ]

15:15: Nordahl Lelandais claims to be heterosexual but acknowledges a homosexual relationship

On his love life, he has never been married or in a civil partnership and has not had any children.

He mentions several significant relationships, including one that marked him because of his partner's abortion and the disappointment that this caused him.

On his sexual orientation, he states that he is heterosexual and acknowledges a homosexual relationship. However, he explains that it is more a matter of curiosity than a real attraction.

15:25: "I don't think I'm crazy

He has been under medical and psychological care for anxiety attacks.

His social life is essentially concentrated in Chambéry.

He consumes alcohol and occasionally cocaine "for a prolonged effect on alcohol."

In another interview, he spontaneously told the interviewer: "I don't think I'm crazy. But one morning they found me on the mattress in the bathroom. There was the number 7 on the wall." He tells the interviewer that he always thought he was being watched like in the Truman Show.

On his self-description he sees himself as helpful.

15:55: For the personality investigator, Nordahl Lelandais had a classic life path

Questioned by the defense, the personality investigator believes that his life path is classic, with events certainly, but without physical, moral or psychological violence. "I don't like the terms banal and normal. But there were no difficulties."

Questioned by the court on the report of the investigator, Nordahl Lelandais said "everything is correct." He appears very much at ease and responds without difficulty to the president.

16:00: The accused questioned about his military career

The president continues about his military career. Lelandais replies "I graduated top of my class. I could do anything in the army, except fly a plane."

He then returned to the accident that led to his discharge: "They call it the Great Silence. I always liked being in the military. But at the level of the hierarchy, something had changed."

16:10: Lelandais holds back tears when thinking of one of his former companions

On his post-army career: "I did a lot of interim work by choice. It was financial. I earned less on a permanent contract." He values his career path and does not see himself as lazy: "and I had real back problems diagnosed by an MRI."

As far as his love life is concerned, he makes a distinction between serious relationships and one-night stands: "With today's Internet sites, men and women are doing a lot of dating. And it's always done in a respectful way."

"How do you explain that your relationships do not last?" the president asks. "These are the things of life. Sometimes I didn't evolve as my partner wanted. " He holds back his tears as he thinks of one of his former companions.

16:16: The questioning continues about his love life

"My penultimate partner had a lot of power over me. I loved her very much. Today I can say that. The psychiatrist told me in prison that I was still in love with her."

He does not deny having had sexual relations in parallel with his love affairs.

16:25: A nervous man who likes to please

Another of his companions described him as nervous and a people pleaser.

Nervous? "It can happen like when you are driving and you have the right of way cut off."

A people pleaser? "Yes, I liked to appear well dressed."

16:27: The defendant speaks about his relationship with his father

On the relationship with his father, which some have described as distant: "It's mainly that people have only seen my relationship with my mother. But I was close to my father, he made me discover fishing, nature. We went hiking. I always loved my father, I still love him" (his father died at the beginning of the year).

16h50 :

On combat sports: "I practised judo and karate as a teenager. And then I started Thai boxing. I did three or four years of it, only training. During my military training, I did a bit of hand-to-hand combat."

On his homosexual relationship: "There is no penetration with sex. But caresses with the hands. Fellatio on his part and finger penetration."

5pm: "I was in a state of depression. Like a vagabond," says Nordahl Lelandais

Me Boulloud, the lawyer for the civil parties, questions the accused in turn. He asked him what his state of mind was in 2017, how he felt in his life. "I was in a state of depression. Like a vagabond. I was drinking alone at home. I was doing cocaine alone at home. My friends were moving on with their lives and I wasn't."

Did you talk to your mother about it? "No, I didn't. I was going downhill on my own. And I didn't realise it."

The number 7, the voices, did you solve this mystical enigma? "The psychiatrists told me it was because of the medication I was taking, that it could cause hallucinations. But that I was not schizophrenic."

17:10: The lawyer for the civil parties asks him about the combat techniques he learned in the army

Me Boulloud: What combat techniques did you learn in the army? "Neutralising an enemy, as they say in the army. Immobilisation techniques. I was a dog handler. I learned techniques but I am neither a trainer nor an expert.

17:15: Lelandais on his cocaine consumption: "It was eating and cocaine

Therese Brunisso, the public prosecutor, questions Nordahl Lelandais on his excessive consumption of cocaine: "Have you always recognized this? "Lelandais: "No. I was ashamed to say that I used cocaine."

"You are intelligent, Mr Lelandais. We will see that later. Your IQ is normal. Do you expect me to believe that you were ashamed? Did your consumption increase after the facts of which you are accused?" the public prosecutor asks. "I had started before. I didn't watch my spending anymore. It was food and cocaine," the accused says.

17:25: Lelandais questioned by his lawyer

To the question of his lawyer Jakubowicz: "How did you feel when you were in the UHSA (hospital unit specially equipped for prisoners)? "The former dog handler replied: "Not well, really not well. I was sedated."

Then Me Jakubowicz asked him: "Do you make a difference between your love life and your sexual life? "Of course," Lelandais said.

Counsel listed his client's relationships and asked him to specify whether the relationship was romantic or sexual.

17:35: "A descent into hell" after a romantic break-up

The defence lawyer questions his client in this sense to demonstrate that he did not have a violent sexuality or an overflowing libido. And he quotes some of his ex-girlfriends who testified during the investigation that their sexuality was not out of the ordinary: "He was neither brutal nor aggressive and did not have any particular demands.

- Me Jakubowicz: "Who are your friends? "

- Nordahl Lelandais: "I've had them all my life. Many of them.

- Mr Jakubowicz: "Was there a gap at any time with the family life of some? "

- Nordahl Lelandais: "Yes. Afterwards, we wander around. We go on dating websites.

- Mr Jakubowicz: "The descent into hell that you experienced, when did you situate it?

- Nordahl Lelandais: "End of 2016-beginning of 2017. After a romantic break-up. I threw everything away with my life of selfishness.

- Mr Jakubowicz: "Your cocaine consumption? "

- Nordahl Lelandais: "Half a gram a day".

18:08: The hearing resumes, the mother of Nordahl Lelandais on the stand

The hearing resumes with the hearing of a witness. It is Christiane Lelandais, the mother of Nordahl Lelandais.

18:19: Nordahl Lelandais, a "normal, gentle, kind" child, according to his mother

"He is a child who was wanted. He was normal, gentle, kind. His adolescence did not pose a problem. As an adult, he lived his life," said Christiane Lelandais. "What happened... I didn't see it coming," she says.

"When he was incarcerated, I went to see him. When he was in the specialised unit at Le Vinatier, I didn't recognise him. He was a zombie. [...] Today, I have my son back, he is fine."

"We had a lot of trouble with that, because of the name Lelandais. We were attacked from everywhere. I took back my maiden name", the mother of the accused confided.

18:25: Christiane Lelandais questioned about the childhood of her son

The president asks if, as Nordahl Lelandais says, he had a normal childhood? "Yes, yes. We went on holiday, there was love. It was a normal family."

What was the nature of his relationship with his father? "Maybe a bit complicated. He missed not doing activities with his father. He [ the fayther ] was someone who liked to do his own thing," she admits.

Was he a father who didn't involve his children in activities? "No, he didn't. No. Nothing. But he loved to cook. It was his way of showing his love."

18:40: The questioning of Lelandais' mother continues

- Was your son a silent one?

- Yes, Nordahl was not a talker.

- Did you understand his departure to the army?

- Yes, because the army was something that was structured. But he was disappointed with the way it was organised. They were asked to paint the grass green and the stones white for a minister's visit.

- Did your son undergo any psychological treatment as a child?

- "No, never, everything was fine."

- In 2016/2017, have you seen a change?

- "Looking back with what happened..., there were the loves and the dislikes. It was the period of falling out of love."

- Was it okay with you and your husband that he was living with you at over 30?

- For daddy no. For Mum yes, there was room then... Paying rent with your girlfriend yes. But alone, when you earn the minimum wage... "

- His passions apart from sport?

- Fishing and cooking.

- And dogs, no?

- Ah yes, dogs. His great passion".

18:55: "Cecile Noyer will never find her son. Your son caused his death", Me Boulloud questions Nordahl Lelandais' mother in turn

The lawyer for the civil parties begins by saying that her words "I found my son" were very hard to hear for the civil parties. "Cécile Noyer will never find her son. Your son caused his death. You have nothing to do with it, madam, but I wanted to have it said."

To the question, were the relations with her father conflicting? She answers: "Yes, but without shouting. It was flat and cold. I don't want to tarnish my husband's memory. Maybe he was a selfish person."

- "Are you a mother hen?"

- "Cool."

- "Did he tell you the truth about Arthur?"

- "Oh no. I think he was beyond ashamed."

- "You're a mum. You saw him grow up. You heard him say mum for the first time. What would you say if you were in Cécile Noyer's shoes? "

- That is complicated to answer. I understand these parents, the sadness. I understand that they will never see their son again."

- Wouldn't you ask him to tell the truth? Can you ask him? Justice would be more merciful. You wouldn't have to change your name.

"Of course I can. But we've already talked. I ask you Nordahl to tell the truth, the whole truth. For the sake of Arthur's parents."

Nordahl Lelandais replies: "Of course, I'll do it, Mum. What you told me, it upset me. When I see Me Boulloud. You are putting my mother on trial because she is Nordahl's mother. She has nothing to do with it. I apologise. The first thing I saw was the photo of Arthur. I don't allow myself to look at Arthur's family unless they approve it."

18:56: Nordahl Lelandais: "I repeat what I said. I did not want to kill Arthur Noyer."

Well, that was dramatic. And it is not over yet.

19:14: Difficult interview for the half-sister of Nordahl Lelandais

Now the half-sister of Nordahl Lelandais testifies: "He was a good brother, accessible, and helpful. There was an age difference but in our twenties we found each other. We had more of the same interests."

About their father, she says: "He wasn't uninterested in us, even if it wasn't obvious what activities we were doing. There was never any violence, however."

The president throws her off balance with a question about the Maëlys case: "It's true that if we talk about sorrow, I apologise to the Noyer family, but I have more sorrow for Maëlys because she is a child.

Maître Boulloud asks her, as he did with Nordahl's mother, if she can ask her brother to tell the truth. "Do you think he is telling the truth 100%? " His sister: "Right now, yes."

The questioning was difficult for Nordahl Lelandais' sister. She was very emotional and her voice was toneless.

19:15: "Nordahl, I count on you," the chaplain of the prison of Saint-Quentin-Fallavier addresses the accused

The chaplain of the prison of Saint-Quentin-Fallavier now testifies. He begins by expressing his compassion for the Noyer family. "We know that behind every person we see in prison, there are victims."

The chaplain explains how he saw N. Lelandais' mind "unlocked in the face of the evidence. He recovered that bit of humanity that links him to human society."

He addresses the accused: " Nordahl, you owe this truth to this family who are going through a terrible agony. Nordahl, I am counting on you. As Saint Vincent de Paul says, a man is worth more than the deeds he has done."

19:45: Mr Jakubowicz questions the chaplain

- Do you have the feeling in your career that you were wrong about the people you saw? "

- The chaplain: "They told me their truth. I don't know if it was the truth."

- Mr Jakubowicz: "When he asked you to go and visit Maëlys' grave, was he sincere? "

- The chaplain: "Yes, I think so."

- Mr Jakubowicz: "Did he tell you about his attraction to Buddhism?

- The chaplain: "Yes."

- Mr. Jakubowicz: "He is often described as a monster, but he is not one. He belongs to the community of humanity."

- The chaplain: "Yes, at one point he was a monster because he lived without safeguards. And there was this return to the realm of humanity. I consider this step to be sincere."

19:50: "Jean-Marc has brought me to say things before the investigating judge," Lelandais recalls his relationship with the prison chaplain

Mr Boulloud was annoyed to learn that the approach of N. Lelandais towards a chaplain had been suggested to him by his counsel.

Lelandais says: "My counsel told me that I had to free myself. Jean-Marc (the chaplain), I admire him, we spoke man to man, heart to heart. I don't think I'm forgiven, I have a problem with forgiveness. Jean-Marc got me to say things in front of the examining magistrate. He didn't push me to do it. It did me good and I was able to say that I was the perpetrator of the death of Arthur Noyer. There were great moments of silence that meant everything."

20:05: "We had no confidence in him"

His army platoon leader in Suippes. in the Marne region, now testifies.

"There was a lot of follow-up on him. He lacked the desire and perception for this speciality of dog handler. I had him under my command for a year. He had problems with the hierarchy."

"Inside you could feel that he was bubbling, but with me he was able to contain himself. We had no confidence in him."

The president points out that the deposition of the section chief made in 2017 no longer really corresponds to his deposition of the day. "Where is the truth today?"

The section leader is confused.

The president: "What has he done to be a soldier?"
"He lasted a few years. If he was a good soldier, he would still be a soldier."

8:15pm: "Who are we kidding, sir? "Mr. Jakubowicz questions the witness

Mr. Jakubowicz now questions the witness, with the military file of N. Lelandais in his hand. For counsel, the file attests that Lelandais was a good soldier, the opposite of the description made by the leader of the unit. "Is this file a bad military CV? "The defence lawyer asked the witness. Answer: "You take the positive parts without the disciplinary sanctions, without the annual assessments.

Mr. Jakubowicz goes on to read the assessments in question, which describe his client as a good soldier. He addresses the witness: "Who are we kidding, sir? " The chief: "He had some good, he had some bad, I always said so."

9pm: Today's proceedings are over

Mr Jakubowicz raged at the president of the court who asked the witness if N. Lelandais' file was honestly noted or "as sometimes in the administration, does not really reflect reality."

The president of the court now detailed the criminal record of N. Lelandais. He had destroyed by fire an establishment in which he had worked and had been placed under an electronic bracelet. He had also been convicted after an altercation with a motorist during which he had worn a police armband and put a knife in a tyre in February 2017. When the gendarmes came to search him in June, he actually thought they had come to get him for Arthur Noyer.

The hearing is over for today. It will resume on Tuesday at 9 am.

I didn't realize they could have "conversations" like this in court. i.e. mother talking to NL directly!

Thanks for the updates @ZaZara ! :)

The prosecuting lawyer talking to the mother who then speaks to Nordahl Lelandais who then replies!

IMO Nordahl Lelandais has a huge problem with credibilty, hence this trial has started the way it did. Big question remains of course: has he become more credible now? I'm not so sure.

Sounds like he is still evading the questions - telling them what they want them to believe - not what is the truth! There was much in the English article to post it here.

Procès de Nordahl Lelandais. DIRECT. Meurtre d'Arthur Noyer : l'ancien amant de Lelandais à la barre, l'ambiance se tend dans la salle

Le Dauphiné Liveblog, Day 2

06:10: Today's programme
After a first day of hearings during which the life of the accused was reviewed and his love life evoked, the sentimental and sexual relationships of Nordahl Lelandais should again be at the heart of the debates this Tuesday, May 4, since several of his former girlfriends will appear on the stand.

The accused will then be called to the stand to give his version of the facts on the night of 11 to 12 April 2017, the night he killed Arthur Noyer. So far, Nordahl Lelandais maintains a fight that would have gone wrong.

The hearing is scheduled to begin at 9am.

09:10: The hearing resumes this Tuesday, May 4
The court has issued a warrant for the co-prisoner of N. Lelandais who had claimed to have received his confessions on the death of Arthur Noyer. The latter, who lives in Villeurbanne, did not respond to the multiple requests of the court to testify in court.

The first witness arrives at the bar. She is a former girlfriend of N. Lelandais.

09:20: "He hurt me a lot, it took a long time to rebuild myself": a former girlfriend describes her relationship with Lelandais

She had met him in 2012, her parents had recruited N.Lelandais to train her dog. They started a relationship and saw each other near her home in Saint-Baldoph.

She describes a relationship that was not really amorous, with many interruptions. She was 17 years old at the time.

She ended the relationship in late 2014-early 2015. "He hurt me a lot, it took me a long time to rebuild. There are still traces today. "

09:27: Meetings in Saint-Baldoph, the commune where Nordahl Lelandais would have fought with Arthur Noyer

The president asks the witness where their meetings took place in Saint-Baldoph. She spoke of isolated paths towards the vineyards. Saint-Baldoph is the commune where N.Lelandais claims to have had the fatal fight with Arthur Noyer.

09:38: A nervous man but who was never violent with her
"It was a sex thing. But I liked him. So I plunged in," she says.
She describes a nervous man but who was never physically violent with her.

10:00: The witness assures that she was not contacted again by Lelandais the evening of the murder

Me Boulloud questions the witness. He seeks to demonstrate that Nordahl Lelandais knew very well the places in Saint-Baldoph since they often went together. The lawyer also asks if the evening of the facts, the night of 11 to 12 April 2017, N.Lelandais had tried to contact her again.
Answer of the witness: "No."

10:05: "I did not think he might attack a child".

The defense now questions the witness:
- "You had stated that he was gentle and endearing. Can you explain that? "
- The witness: "I don't remember. At that time, I didn't necessarily have any friends. I don't know why I said that. (She searches for words.) He was not abrupt during our sexual relations. When we took a little time to talk, it was quite nice."
The witness explains that when she learned the facts (about Maëlys), it did not fit with the image she had of the accused: "I did not think he might attack a child."

10:15: Photos of the reconstruction projected

A series of photos of the reconstruction were projected. They show Lelandais' Audi in the road where the couple were meeting

10:25am: "I'll make you eat the floor tiles", "I'll throw you in the Dent du Chat": a second ex-girlfriend on the stand

A second ex-girlfriend testifies in court. She dated N.Lelandais from the end of 2013. They lived together for a short time.

"We had a relationship of a few months. The separation was hard. There were many threats. 'I'll make you eat the floor tiles'. I'm going to throw you in the Dent du Chat."

The witness is one of the women who filed a complaint against N. Lelandais after finding that one of their intimate videos had been posted on pornographic sites. The case had been closed by the prosecutor's office in Chambéry.

10:32am: The witness describes violent arguments
"The arguments we had were not normal arguments in a couple. It was violent. I said to myself 'poor girl, you can't stay here like this'."
The witness confided that she had become pregnant by Lelandais and had an abortion. She also explained that Lelandais wanted to keep the child.

The president of the court asked what his qualities were at the time they met. She replied: "There was a good contact. We had the love of dogs in common."

10:50: The public prosecutor underlines the courage of the witness
At the request of the president of the court, the witness acknowledges that she was also seeking, like N. Lelandais, very regular sexual relations.
- Me Boulloud "Would you say that Mr Lelandais has a dual personality? "
- The witness: "I am not in a position to say so".

Thérèse Brunisso, the public prosecutor, underlined the courage of the witness to have to answer such intimate questions about her past life with the accused.

The couple sometimes went to the lake of La Thuile. It was only a few kilometres away that the body of Arthur Noyer was found.

11am: N.Lelandais had above average sexual needs confirms his ex-girlfriend
The witness confirms to the public prosecutor that N.Lelandais had above average sexual needs.

The defence now questions the witness:
- "On your sex life, did he respect your consent? "
- Answer: "Yes."
- Defence: "You said that he had above-average needs. You also said that you were inclined to it, too. Are your needs higher than other women? "
- Answer: "I don't know about other women, I was just out of a marriage. Yes, maybe."

11:05: Four years after the events, the witness "still in a state of incomprehension
"If there had not been all these facts that led him to the court of assizes, would your point of view towards him have changed? "asks Mr Jakubowicz. Answer: "I still don't understand."

11:15: the hearing is suspended
