Well, then I'm sure he's going to come up with some "excuse" - what that might be should be interesting to say the least....

Pure evil resides in NL's soul. Whatever your perception of a 'soul' might be. They need to convince him that the truth will set him free. In his mind anyway. Locked away for life IMHO. Constantly reminded of the terrors he inflicted, on innocent human beings.

Well, then I'm sure he's going to come up with some "excuse" - what that might be should be interesting to say the least....

There was a reconstruction a while ago. NL was taken to his home, his lawyer was there too. Questions will be about the reconstruction IMHO.

In the repo that aired last week, the General of the Gendarmerie describes the investigation as a game of chess. Small steps forward.
I wish there was a transcript to translate. Would make interesting reading.

"Because of his fragile mental state my client is unable to provide an explanation at this moment in time."

Or something like that.

Oh I'm sure he thought of one for tomorrow! I guess we shall see.

Thanks all for all the other updates & articles you all posted! (Even though I don't read French!) :)

NORDAHL LELANDAIS TO BE INTERROGATED IN THE PRESENCE OF THE LAWYER OF MAËLYS' PARENTS

Affaire Maëlys : nouvelle audition de Nordahl Lelandais en présence de l'avocat des parents de la fillette

Nordahl Lelandais is expected this July 3 at the Courthouse in Grenoble in the case of little Maëlys. The 35-year-old Savoyard is the only suspect in the death of the 8.5-year-old girl, who disappeared in Pont de Beauvoisin on the night of 26 to 27 August 2017. After denying any involvement for months, he admitted to killing Maëlys, but doing so involuntarily. The girl's body had been found on his indications on 14 February, at the foot of Mont-Grêle, in Attignat-Oncin, Savoie.

This new interrogation will be special because it will take place in the presence of the lawyer of Maëlys' parents. Me Fabien Rajon made the request to the chamber of the instruction of Grenoble and obtained the green light. A provision in the Criminal Procedure Code, but little used by lawyers. Rajon can pose questions to Nordahl Lelandais. A way for the lawyer to "know if he is willing to be completely transparent, to tell the whole truth."

This new hearing will also be held in the presence of the investigating judges in charge of the case, Nordahl Lelandais' lawyer and a prosecutor. Although her hearing on 22 February, a week after the discovery of the girl's body, had ended shortly, Nordahl Lelandais spoke at length on 19 March, evoking a slap in the face to explain Maëlys' death. Since then, the magistrates have received new evidence from autopsy reports and analyses of the girl's clothing.

He should also be heard on suspicions of sexual assault on a little cousin. While the investigation had already established that he had consulted child *advertiser censored* files before and after Maëlys disappeared, these new revelations are linked to the discovery, in one of his mobile phones, of a video. It had been filmed at his parents' home in Domessin (Savoie) a week before Maëlys disappeared.

The family home was searched in his presence on 6 June in this context. He's facing a new indictment on this case. Let us recall that he is already under indictment, in Grenoble, for the kidnapping and murder of Maëlys, as well as for the assassination, in Chambéry, in the case of Corporal Arthur Noyer.

Affaire Maëlys : Nordahl Lelandais de nouveau face aux juges

Snipped from Le Figaro:

"Have there been other victims in the family?" If the interrogation/hearing must focus on Maëlys' case, it is also "very likely" that Nordahl will be questioned on facts about his cousin, whom he is suspected of having sexually assaulted. From this hearing, "my clients, who are upset, await answers to their many questions," says Caroline Remond, the parent's lawyer. "What exactly happened that night? Why did he assault their child? Have there been other victims in the family? " she asks (...)

According to the investigation, the one-minute video was shot on the night of August 19-20, one week before Maëlys' abduction, while the small victim and her parents, from the South, were on vacation at Nordahl Lelandais' parents' home.

After analyzing the video, the investigators were able to identify the 6-year-old girl as a cousin of the suspect and her parents were notified. "The investigators only showed them excerpts from this video, which had been previously erased by Nordahl Lelandais. They wanted to protect my clients from seeing certain passages. What they saw was a hand, an arm that pulls the panties of their little girl, who was asleep," says Caroline Remond, the parent's lawyer, who also said that the nature of the aggression is not in doubt. "The child underwent médico-judiciaires forensics (?). These clearly show that she was sexually assaulted, " she adds. Several elements and details noted by the investigators suggest that it is Nordahl Lelandais' hand seen in the video. At the beginning of June, the gendarmes in charge of the investigation carried out searches at the home of the suspect's parents, the location of the alleged assault, to carry out verifications. "

Tuesday, July 3rd:
*Hearing - France - Maëlys De Araujo (9) (Aug. 27, 2017; found Feb. 14, 2018) - Nordahl Lelandais (34) arrested (9/3/17) & indicted with murder & kidnapping & forceable confinement of a minor younger than 15; being held in jail. Maleys' DNA found in his car. Also indicted on 12/20/17 for murder of Arthur Noyer, 24 (April 2016; skull found Sept. 2017).
12/21/17 update: Nordahl Lelandais was indicted on Wednesday, December 20 for "assassination" in the case of the disappearance of Arthur Noyer (24), a young soldier who vanished last April in Chambery.
1/23/18 Update: The court refused Tuesday to release the main suspect of Maëlys' disappearance case, Nordahl Lelandais remains in prison.
2/5/18 update: interrogated for 10 hours on Noyer’s case.
2/9/18 update: The Grenoble Court of Appeal confirmed on Friday (2/9/18) that Nordahl Lelandais, the main suspect in the case of Maëlys' abduction and Arthur Noyer's assassination, will remain in detention. A first request for release had been rejected by the judge of freedoms and detention on 23 January.

2/14/18: confessed and led LE to Maȅlys’ body.
2/22/18 Update: The investigators were waiting to learn more. But Nordahl Lelandais would have preferred to remain silent, refusing to answer the investigating judges' questions. The interrogation lasted only about ten minutes. The suspect categorically refused to speak on the subject. So the hearing ended abruptly. Under medical treatment, the former soldier told the judges that his heavy treatment put him in a state where he could not answer the questions and, requesting some time, he explained that he would do so.
3/9/18 Update: For the first time, Nordahl Lelandais admits to having crossed paths with Arthur Noyer. Before the investigating magistrate, he admitted to having picked up the young man on the night of his disappearance from a nightclub in Chambéry (Savoie). Nordahl Lelandais is still not acknowledging that he killed the young soldier. The charges against him are overwhelming. On the evening of the Corporal's disappearance, the two men's phones were geolocated at the same location and followed the same route for part of the night before turning off. Arthur Noyer's skull was found last September on a forest road 15 kilometres from Chambéry. Next hearing on Monday 19 March before the investigating judge.
3/29/18 Update: Hearing held, NL takes LE to where Noyer’s remains were found; NL admitted killing Noyer.
6/2/18 update: Psychiatric Experts report: During discussions with psychiatric experts, Nordahl Lelandais spoke about the night of August 26 to 27, 2017, when little Maëlys disappeared. He said he felt like "a ghost flying" beside the car where the little girl would have died. But the experts give no credit to these statements, believing instead that these words had been repeated, rehearsed, and recited, as if memorized. An element that reinforces the idea of a "dangerous" and manipulative killer.
6/8/18 update: The analysis of NL's mobile phone revealed a video on which he is seen assaulting a little girl under the age of 7 who is said to be one of his cousins. A video discovered in the phone of NL shows the sexual assault of a girl under 7 years old, a week before the murder of Maëlys in Isere. Next hearing July 3rd, he is facing a new indictment.

Nordahl Lelandais auditionné au tribunal de Grenoble

BFMTV News. Nordahl Lelandais left Lyon-Corbas prison on Tuesday morning, where he is incarcerated in the psychiatric unit, to join the Grenoble court where he will be heard by the investigating judges. The man, who claims that little Maëlys died "accidentally" after being slapped by him, will be confronted with the latest results of the autopsy of the child, of which BFMTV obtained certain details, and which weaken his version of the events.

MAËLYS' AUTOPSY: NEW FINDINGS WEAKEN THE VERSION OF NORDAHL LELANDAIS

BFMTV
Autopsie de Maëlys: de nouveaux éléments fragilisent la version de Lelandais

During his new hearing on Tuesday, Nordahl Lelandais will be confronted with the latest autopsy results of Maëlys, of which BFMTV obtained a number of details.

These are new findings that seem to undermine the version Nordahl Lelandais has been offering to judges since he confessed to killing little Maëlys on 14 February. The latest autopsy results of the girl, of which BFMTV obtained information, reveal several fractures in Maëlys' skull and two others in her jaw. According to the expert opinion, these fractures occurred before the girl's death, but none of them were fatal.

These facts seem to weaken Nordahl Lelandais' version, who maintains since the beginning that Maëlys died accidentally, after a slap by him. However, according to several sources, the girl could not have been killed by a simple slap, none of the fractures found during the autopsy having been sufficient to cause death.

In all cases, the expert's report does not make it possible to determine the precise cause of Maëlys' death, nor to establish whether she had suffered sexual violence, since the state of decomposition of the body complicated the work of the forensic experts considerably. For the record, Maëlys' remains had been found on the indications of Nordahl Lelandais, six months after the murder, in a mountainous and rugged area. Only her bones had been found, along with remains of clothing and a shoe, in very poor condition.

Nordahl Lelandais, who is still being held in a psychiatric unit in Lyon-Corbas prison, will have to explain these new findings on Tuesday in the judges' office. To support his version of the facts, the defence might request a second opinion.

During the hearing, Nordahl Lelandais should also be confronted for the first time with a particularly compromising video found on his telephone by the investigators. It shows the sexual assault of a little girl - his six-year-old cousin, according to our information. The girl's parents filed a complaint of sexual assault against a minor under the age of 15. Nordahl Lelandais, already indicted for the murders of Maëlys and Corporal Noyer, could also be indicted for this sexual assault.

INTERROGATION HAS ENDED

Le Dauphine.com, liveblog
Affaire Maëlys : l'interrogatoire de Nordahl Lelandais vient de s'achever

7H. The autopsy on Maëlys' body, killed during the night of 26 to 27 August 2017, was unable to determine the causes of the girl's death.

Indeed, forensic doctors who analyzed the skeleton of the child, found last February 14 at the foot of Mount Grêle, revealed several fractures to the skull and jaw of Maëlys.

As the Dauphiné Libéré has already revealed, these are ante mortem fractures.

On the other hand, experts conclude that these different fractures were not fatal. Above all, they indicate that these traumas observed would not be compatible with the version delivered by Nordahl Lelandais.

We recall that during his last interrogation, Domessin's thirty-year-old had put forward a violent slap with the back of his hand to explain the fracture of Maëlys' jaw.

This Tuesday morning, Nordahl Lelandais is expected in the chambers of the three investigating judges of Grenoble who will confront him with these new findings.

8H35. The deputy public prosecutor of Grenoble, Laurent Becuywe, has informed the Dauphiné libéré that the public prosecutor's office will not make any official communication following the interrogation of Nordahl Lelandais.

10H. Nordahl Lelandais has arrived at the Grenoble courthouse shortly before 9 am.

Maître Rajon, Maëlys' parents' lawyer, has also arrived at the courthouse. The investigating chamber has granted his request: he too may question the alleged murderer of the child.

10H16. Alain Jakubowicz, Nordahl Lelandais' lawyer, has now gone up the steps of the Grenoble courthouse.

The interrogation will begin in a few minutes.

11H37. The interrogation of Maëlys' alleged murderer has ended at the Grenoble courthouse.

None of the lawyers wished to speak.

11H58. Master Rajon, Maëlys' parents' lawyer, has just spoken, indicating that he did not wish to express himself in order to respect the secrecy of the investigation.

That wasn't a very long hearing. He probably didn't have much to say this time.

I found an interesting article from about a month ago, that mentioned a few things I hadn't seen before:

Lelandais aux experts psychiatres : «Comme si une seconde personne était en moi»

"The doctors also explored his family and past romantic relationships. In particular, he mentions "two homosexual relationships" and explains that he had many girlfriends, many of whom "became pregnant with him and aborted." He also says he has a "great admiration" for his father, a man "passionate about everything and having a great memory." During the interviews, Nordahl Lelandais declares "to have not undergone any sexual or psychological violence during his childhood and adolescence." During a hearing, his mother had suggested that her son could have been abused by a college principal. "This expertise confirms the total control capacity of Lelandais, said Marie Grimaud, lawyer of the association Innocence en danger, civil party in the case. He is someone who has a dual personality. It is quite typical of serial killers, capable of having violent phases while retaining a personality allowing them to appear adapted in their emotional and social environment. These are people who go relatively unnoticed."

Here's another detail that contradicted Nordahl's version of that night:

"According to information from the Le Dauphiné Libéré, these same sources question the former soldier's account, who said he deposited the body behind a shed, 100 meters from his home, before then hiding it in the forest at the foot of Mont Grêle. However, no trace of blood was discovered there (by the shed) by the gendarmerie experts, even after in depth examinations of the area. Many mysteries remain."

Affaire Maëlys : la nuit décrite par Lelandais mise à mal ?

I always thought the location (alleged crime scene) so near to his home and the other houses was odd. IMHO he was making up one unlikely story to support his other unlikely story, that of an involuntary blow.

What grown up man would take a young girl of barely 9 years to his home where his mother was still awake in the early hours of the morning? Or at any time of the day?

"Hi maman, this is my friend Maëlys. Can your pour her a drink while I change my shorts?"

I've been wondering about the shed for a while... What does that lie mean? If he didn't place her there at first, then where? She was no longer in the passenger seat of his car when he returned to the wedding.

I am with Maitre Rajon on this one. Sexual abuse cannot be ruled out. If a paedophile inclination made him abduct Maëlys, then a crime scene next to his home is not obvious, hence nor is the shed as a hiding place.

The crime scene near his home is only credible if you believe the story that he left with Maëlys to show her his dogs at his home at 3 o'clock in the morning.
IMHO no one believes that, but they are too polite to say so.

MAËLYS CASE: "SEXUAL ABUSE CANNOT BE RULED OUT" SAYS PARENTS' LAWYER

France Info TV
Affaire Maëlys : "On ne peut pas exclure des sévices de nature sexuelle", estime l'avocat des parents

"We can not a priori, irrevocably, rule out that Maëlys may have been sexually abused," Maëlys' parents' lawyer Fabien Rajon assured France Bleu Isère on Thursday 7 June. He reacted to the new suspicions hanging over Nordahl Lelandais, already under investigation for the murder of Maëlys.

A video found in Nordahl Lelandais' phone shows touchings on a 7-year-old girl, his cousin. The alleged events took place at Lelandais' parents' home in Domessin (Savoie), one week before Maëlys disappeared. "We already had doubts about his personality and possible paedophile tendencies," Fabien Rajon said. "As we read the judicial information, we realize that it was perhaps a little quickly said in his defense that Nordahl Lelandais did not have a paedophile past or inclination."

For Maëlys' parents' lawyer, this new element must be taken into account in the investigation into the personality of Nordahl Lelandais, also under investigation for the murder of Corporal Arthur Noyer. "The only conclusion I draw is a conclusion on the disturbed personality of Nordahl Lelandais," Fabien Rajon said.

The first results of the autopsy of Maëlys' body do not allow to affirm in a scientific way that she was victim of a sexual assault, in particular because her remains remained six months in nature. For Me Rajon, "there is nothing extraordinary in the fact that possible traces of sexual abuse could have disappeared." Maëlys' body was discovered on 14 February in the Chartreuse massif. The little girl disappeared during the night of 26 to 27 August 2017.

Investigations are continuing. A search in connection with the discovery of this new video took place Wednesday at the home of Lelandais, in the presence of the former military. The lawyer of Maëlys' parents praised the "human and technical resources deployed by the three investigating judges, of great scope and quality."

NORDAHL LELANDAIS CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT OF A MINOR

Le Monde
Nordahl Lelandais mis en examen pour agression sexuelle sur mineure

Nordahl Lelandais was charged with sexual assault of a minor under 15 years of age, according to sources close to the case, confirming information from BFMTV.

He was heard Tuesday morning in the Grenoble court, suspected of sexual assault on his young cousin during a family visit to his parents' home in Domessin (Savoy), a week before the wedding evening that turned out fatal for Maëlys de Araujo, an 8-year-old girl abducted and killed on the night of 26 to 27 August 2017.

This is Nordahl Lelandais' third indictment: he is already suspected of the murder of Maëlys and the murder of Corporal Noyer.

Tuesday's interrogation was also aimed at clarifying the conditions of Maëlys' death, whom Nordahl Lelandais claims to have killed accidentally. But no information filtered from the hearing about this.

Nordahl Lelandais, of whom it is unknown whether he spoke or remained silent, returned to his cell shortly before 2 p.m., according to a source close to the case. Alain Jakubowicz, his lawyer, left the premises without comment, the public prosecutor of Grenoble indicating that he would not communicate on the case. And Fabien Rajon, the lawyer for the parents of the missing girl, told the press that, under these conditions, he would not say anything either "in accordance with the principle of the secrecy of the investigation."

There we go! I was expecting this.

NORDAHL LELANDAIS REMAINS SILENT AS LONG AS THERE ARE LEAKS TO THE PRESS

BFMTV
Affaire Maëlys: Nordahl Lelandais ne parlera plus tant qu'il y aura des fuites dans la presse

Nordahl Lelandais' last interrogation turned out to be short due to the young man's silence. According to our information, he decided to stop talking as long as there were leaks.

Nordahl Lelandais' new hearing on Tuesday did not bring the expected clarification. According to our information, the 35-year-old former dog-handler used his right to silence. According to BFMTV, his lawyer explained that Nordahl Lelandais would not speak as long as there were leaks in the press.

However, this defence strategy did not upset what the judges had planned: a third indictment for sexual assault on a minor under 15 years of age. Nordahl Lelandais is suspected of sexual assault on his 6-year-old cousin. Alleged events that occurred a week before Maëlys disappeared last August.

Nordahl Lelandais was also charged in the latter case, and admitted to killing the 9-year-old child accidentally. He is also implicated in the death of Arthur Noyer. According to him, it was a fight gone wrong that cost the young corporal his life.

THE LAWYER OF MAËLYS' PARENTS REACTS TO THE NEW INDICTMENT OF NORDAHL LELANDAIS

BFMTV
L'avocat des parents de Maëlys réagit à la mise en examen de Nordahl Lelandais

Me Fabien Rajon, the lawyer of Maëlys' parents, reviews the last hearing of Nordahl Lelandais which he attended. During this interview, the suspect in three cases did not provide any new information.

Nordahl Lelandais was due to be heard again at a hearing on Tuesday. The suspect exercised his right to silence during the interview, which was attended by the lawyer for the girl's parents. "His words were expected," Fabien Rajon regrets this Wednesday on BFMTV.

At the hearing, Nordahl Lelandais had to face several suspicions, including sexual assault on her 6-year-old cousin. Another case that, according to the lawyer, can "shed light" on the shadows of the Maëlys case. Indeed, the analyses carried out on her body do not make it possible to determine whether or not there was rape:

"The defense had told us publicly that Nordahl Lelandais had no paedophile tendencies. If Nordahl Lelandais is indeed under investigation in this case, it would weaken his line of defence until now," he said.

Moreover, the lawyer recalls that the alleged sexual assault took place a few days before Maëlys disappeared last August:

"It would be an important insight into the personality of Nordahl Lelandais and even into the facts potentially suffered by the little girl Maëlys. As things stand todayoday, it cannot be excluded that the young Maëlys was sexually abused."

For the future, the lawyer wishes "An indictment before a criminal court, an adversarial debate before the criminal court of Isère, with one wish for my clients: the truth about what really happened to their child and a sentence commensurate with the gravity of the facts."

Nordahl Lelandais was charged with this alleged sexual assault. These accusations come in addition to the first two cases against him: the death of Maëlys, whom he admitted killing but in an accidental manner, and the death of Arthur Noyer.

BBM

How sad... Of course there are probably other victims...

"The girl's parents (Nordahl's cousins) filed a complaint and lodged a civil action "mid-June", according to their lawyer, Maître Caroline Rémond. The latter formulating the fear "that there are other victims."

According to their lawyer, the parents "had no doubts about this cousin (Nordahl) and they were completely shocked when they learned that their own daughter was a victim of these sexual acts."

Especially since, according to a source close to the file, the little girl's mother (Nordahl's cousin) had "rather supported" (defended) Nordahl when the Maëlys case first broke, at the time of his initial examination for "kidnapping" in early September."
