Nordahl Lelandais: the reconstruction of Maëlys' death scheduled for Thursday

"This judicial step could prove decisive, particularly because of Nordahl Lelandais' profile," a judicial source told the Le Dauphiné Libéré. According to our information, the reconstruction of Maëlys' death is scheduled for Thursday, September 13, in the départements of Isère and Savoie. "Two dates had initially been set, September 13 and 24," the same judicial source continues.

All the parties (defence, civil party) as well as a representative of the Grenoble prosecutor's office, investigators and experts were summoned for a day announced as a marathon, even a very demanding one. Indeed, the three investigating judges in charge of the case, at the criminal centre of Grenoble, are responsible for bringing the alleged murderer to the various sites of this tragic night of 26/27 August 2017, the multipurpose room of Pont-de-Beauvoisin, the place of the disappearance, at the foot of Mont Grêle, in Attignat-Oncin in Savoie, where the girl's body had been found six months later. During this reconstruction, it will of course be a question of the ex-military's various round trips between the multipurpose room where the wedding was held and his parents' home in Domessin. It was about a hundred metres from this house, behind a shed, that he confessed to concealing Maëlys' body, before returning to the wedding, then abandoning it in the middle of the Attignat-Oncin forest.

To secure this day, which could end late at night, and to ensure the secrecy of the investigation, significant resources would be deployed by the gendarmerie. A mobile gendarmerie squadron from Rosny-sous-Bois will be responsible for closing the various roads.

On Saturday, in a statement, the public prosecutor of Grenoble stated that "he is not informed of this judicial act, that he will request its postponement when the order providing for this act is notified to him, as provided for in the Code of Criminal Procedure, and that he will initiate a new investigation for this new violation of investigative secrecy."

So it won't happen after all on Thursday, other sources appear to confirm this.

Her's hoping that they will convince Jean-Yves Coquillat to proceed anyway, because everybody is able to attend on that date. Let's keep our fingers crossed that the reconstruction happens soon.

Nordahl Lelandais: he is not the stranger in the video of the Fort of Tamié

Alongside his involvement in the cases of Maëlys and Arthur Noyer, Nordahl Lelandais is suspected of having played a role in the disappearance of two men in Savoy in 2011 and 2012. But he is not the man who appears on an amateur video of 2012. However, his presence at the festival cannot be ruled out.

The sprawling investigation concerning Nordahl Lelandais has just experienced yet another episode, after the results of the analysis of a video became available. Under investigation for the murders of little Maëlys in August 2017 and Corporal Arthur Noyer in April of the same year, the 35-year-old ex-military has since been subjected to life-course checks and possible involvement in other unexplained deaths or disturbing disappearances. He was suspected of having played a role in those of Jean-Christophe Morin, 22, and Ahmed Hamadou, 45, who evaporated in September 2011 and 2012 at the Tamié (Savoie) electronic music festival. An enthusiast of this style, Lelandais frequented the festive places of the region, which was also his place of residence.

In June, a video dating from 2012 had brought their case back to the forefront. There appeared, in fact, a man with physical resemblance to Lelandais, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, a signet ring, shaven hair. These amateur images shot during the festival finally made it possible to identify the individual: he is not the former dog-handler. Indeed, a tattoo near the neck appears clearly, whereas Nordahl Lelandais never had one there. The video was analyzed twice by members of the Ariane cell, created by the gendarmerie in January 2018 to study in about twenty departments around the Rhône-Alpes region the possible involvement of Lelandais in 900 unsolved cases. The investigators no longer have any doubts about the images. However, the possible presence of the suspect at the Tamié fort cannot be completely ruled out.

When asked by the JDD, Didier Seban and Corinne Herrmann, the lawyers of the families of the two missing persons who filed a complaint for "kidnapping and sequestration", indicated that they had so far received "no official response" from the courts about this video, which they themselves had transmitted to the investigating judge at the beginning of June. "We are waiting for an appointment with the magistrate, as well as our clients." This may be scheduled for October.

We thought it wasn't him, we were right. Kudos to all who have to study those videos.

L'avocat de la famille veut participer à l'interrogatoire de Lelandais

Maitre Bernard Boulloud, the lawyer of Arthur Noyer's family, will be present Friday in Bourges at the funeral of the soldier. After the time of mourning, the time of the judiciary will start again and the Noyer family, with their lawyer, intend to switch to "warrior mode" as they announced 15 days ago. In this sense, Mr. Boulloud revealed on Wednesday what strategy he intends to adopt. The main objective will be to participate in the next interrogation of Nordahl Lelandais: "Mr and Mrs Noyer and Quentin (their 2nd son) want me to attend. In this context, it is the investigating judge who will accept it or not. But quite honestly, we think that justice will not deny us."

Mr. Boulloud also had access to new reports whose content he cannot reveal due to the secrecy of the investigation. Their conclusions will allow us to contradict or not the thesis of accidental death developed by Nordahl Lelandais. But the lawyer, like the family, has never believed in it.

No new date yet.

Isn't Maître Bernard Boulloud also representing four other families of the missing, including Éric Foray?

Nordahl Lelandais: the families of the disappeared will meet again

How many cases is Nordahl Lelandais involved in? This is the burning question that investigators and families of the missing are asking themselves. The latter will meet to share their information.

Nordahl Lelandais, who has already admitted to killing little Maëlys and Corporal Arthur Noyer, may be implicated in other cases. Also, for the second time, the families of the alleged victims of the former dog handler, and of missing persons who may have crossed his path, will come together.

This meeting will take place on September 20 in Lyon. About fifteen families are expected to participate in these exchanges organized on the initiative of the Association Assistance de recherche de personnes disparues (ARPD). The aim is to take stock of each case that is part of those currently being verified by the courts, and to determine whether the disappearances that will be mentioned have a link with Nordahl Lelandais.

This meeting, which will be held behind closed doors, will be the subject of a debriefing in front of the press at around 4 p.m. It is expected that Arthur Noyer's parents will speak on this occasion.

The painstaking work of the gendarmes, who counted 8 unexplained deaths requiring checks in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, has already ruled out a possible link with the former dog handler in two cases. That of Adrien Mourialmé, a 24-year-old Belgian chef, in July 2017 in Haute-Savoie and that of Lucas Tronche, a 15-year-old teenager who has not given any signs of life since 18 March 2015 when he was on his way to a bus stop in the commune of Bagnols-sur-Cèze, in the Gard.

Investigators have already ruled out suspicions in two cases: the case of the disappearance of Estelle Mouzin in 2003 and the Chevaline massacre. For the others, the verification work remains to be done. Further calls for witnesses were launched in July.

If I remember well, Nordahl Lelandais was also excluded in the disappearances of Coralie Moussu (found deceased) and Antoine Zoia (missing). Their cases have been reopened or remain active, but without the suspicion of the involvement of NL.
Perhaps they are not mentioned because they are from different regions? The French have a way of indicating regions or departments, that seems very precise but I do not quite get the system.

Thursday, Sept. 13th:
*Hearing Maybe! (Reconstruction of crime) - France - Maëlys De Araujo (9) (Aug. 27, 2017; found Feb. 14, 2018) - Nordahl Lelandais (34) arrested (9/3/17) & indicted (12/21/17) with murder & kidnapping & forcible confinement of a minor younger than 15; being held in jail. Maleys' DNA found in his car. Confessed (2/4/18) & led LE to her body.
*Indicted (12/20/17) for murder of Arthur Noyer, 24 (April 2016; skull found Sept. 2017). Confessed (3/29/18) to killing Noyer & leads LE to his remains.
*Charged (7/3/18) with sexual assault of a minor under 15 yrs re sexual assault on his young cousin during a family visit to his parents’ home a week before Maëlys abduction.
12/21/17 update: Nordahl Lelandais was indicted on Wednesday, December 20 for "assassination" in the case of the disappearance of Arthur Noyer (24), a young soldier who vanished last April in Chambery.
1/23/18 Update: The court refused Tuesday to release the main suspect of Maëlys' disappearance case, Nordahl Lelandais remains in prison.

2/5/18 update: interrogated for 10 hours on Noyer’s case.
2/9/18 update: The Grenoble Court of Appeal confirmed on Friday (2/9/18) that Nordahl Lelandais, the main suspect in the case of Maëlys' abduction and Arthur Noyer's assassination, will remain in detention. A first request for release had been rejected by the judge of freedoms and detention on 23 January.

2/14/18: confessed and led LE to Maȅlys’ body.
2/22/18 Update: The investigators were waiting to learn more. But Nordahl Lelandais would have preferred to remain silent, refusing to answer the investigating judges' questions. The interrogation lasted only about ten minutes. The suspect categorically refused to speak on the subject. So the hearing ended abruptly. Under medical treatment, the former soldier told the judges that his heavy treatment put him in a state where he could not answer the questions and, requesting some time, he explained that he would do so.
3/9/18 Update: For the first time, Nordahl Lelandais admits to having crossed paths with Arthur Noyer. Before the investigating magistrate, he admitted to having picked up the young man on the night of his disappearance from a nightclub in Chambéry (Savoie). Nordahl Lelandais is still not acknowledging that he killed the young soldier. The charges against him are overwhelming. On the evening of the Corporal's disappearance, the two men's phones were geolocated at the same location and followed the same route for part of the night before turning off. Arthur Noyer's skull was found last September on a forest road 15 kilometers from Chambéry. Next hearing on Monday 19 March before the investigating judge.
3/29/18 Update: Hearing held, NL takes LE to where Noyer’s remains were found; NL admitted killing Noyer.

6/2/18 update: Psychiatric Experts report: During discussions with psychiatric experts, Nordahl Lelandais spoke about the night of August 26 to 27, 2017, when little Maëlys disappeared. He said he felt like "a ghost flying" beside the car where the little girl would have died. But the experts give no credit to these statements, believing instead that these words had been repeated, rehearsed, and recited, as if memorized. An element that reinforces the idea of a "dangerous" and manipulative killer.
6/8/18 update: The analysis of NL's mobile phone revealed a video on which he is seen assaulting a little girl under the age of 7 who is said to be one of his cousins. A video discovered in the phone of NL shows the sexual assault of a girl under 7 years old, a week before the murder of Maëlys in Isere. Next hearing July 3rd, he is facing a new indictment.

7/4/18 Update: Nordahl Lelandais was charged with sexual assault of a minor under 15 years of age, Tuesday morning in the Grenoble court, suspected of sexual assault on his young cousin during a family visit to his parents' home in Domessin (Savoy), a week before the wedding evening that turned out fatal for Maëlys de Araujo, an 8-year-old girl abducted and killed on the night of 26 to 27 August 2017. Tuesday's interrogation was also aimed at clarifying the conditions of Maëlys' death, whom Nordahl Lelandais claims to have killed accidentally. But no information filtered from the hearing about this.
7/11/18 Update: NL has been moved from psych hospital (been there since 2/16/18) to solitary confinement in prison.
7/3/18: Last hearing was July 3, 2018.
8/2/18 Update: France on vacation in August, so moving case to September.
9/9/18 Update: Hearings are scheduled for Sept. 13 & Sept. 24.

So nothing happened yesterday?? I know I had a "maybe" on there. :)

So I guess no leaks yet, eh? Guess - it might not have happened & will on the 9/24.

an article I received this morning in google alert:

Nordahl Lelandais: these 11 disappearances for which the families want to know | The Koz Post

The track Nordahl Lelandais has been compared to nearly a thousand records of disappearances that occurred in France in recent years. It was quickly rejected in the vast majority of cases, but a hundred remained at the end of August to study.

Many families are therefore still waiting, because investigators have not yet said if the track of the man who has admitted his involvement in the death of the little Maëlys and Arthur Walnut has been used in their case.
[.....]
.....They have found a new time this Thursday, September 20, under the auspices of the association, Assistance and search of missing persons (ODBP). A way to support and attempt to advance the investigations.

They seek to find out what happened to Eric Foray, disappeared in September 2016 in the Drôme, Anne-Charlotte Poncin (January 2016 in the Ain department), Florent Bonnet (January 2014 Savoie), Stéphane Path (September 2012 in the department of Isère), Lucie Roux (September 2012 in Savoy), Malik Boutvillain (may 2012 in Isère), Jean-Christophe Morin-September 2011 (in Savoie), Nelly Balmain (August 2011 in the department of the Drôme), Adrien Fiorello (October 2010 in Savoy), Nicolas Suppo (September 2010 in grenoble-Isère) and Rachid Rameche (June 2009, in the Savoy region).
[.....]
Since the review of Nordahl Lelandais for the murder of Arthur Drown, audits have been conducted concerning the affairs Estelle Mouzin, Adrien Mourialmé or Lucas Face. Each time, the thirty-year-old has been out of the question.

Nordahl Lelandais was questioned by the judges in Grenoble today

Nordahl Lelandais was extracted from his cell in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier early this Friday. He arrived in Grenoble around 9 a.m.

According to a judicial source, the former dog handler was to be heard by the investigating judges in charge of the Maëlys case and the sexual assault of his little cousin.

Maëlys' parents' lawyer, Mr Rajon, was not informed of this hearing.

It could therefore only concern the sexual assault case for which Nordahl Lelandais was indicted last July.

Investigators found a video on his cell phone in which his 6-year-old cousin was sexually assaulted in her sleep.

The attack allegedly took place during the night of 19 to 20 August 2017.

At the time of the incident, the parents and their daughter were in Domessin, at Nordahl Lelandais' home, to spend a few days on holiday.

Nordhal Lelandais came out of the Grenoble courtroom around noon in a van to be taken back to his cell.

Nothing filtered through this new interrogation, which lasted nearly three hours.

The respondent's lawyer, who was present with the accused this morning, did not speak.

The former soldier's previous interrogation on 3 July had been short-lived, as the suspect refused to answer the judges' questions.

Nordahl Lelandais is already under investigation in two other cases, the murder of Maëlys and the murder of Corporal Arthur Noyer.

His involvement in other cases of disturbing disappearances is also being investigated by police detectives.

Ariane: The gendarmes are gradually excluding unresolved cases. In Rhône-Alpes, families are still waiting for answers.

On his T-shirt, he printed a wanted notice with a picture of his companion and the date of his disappearance. For the past two years, Regis Pique has lost track of the one who shared his life. This Thursday, in Lyon, among families gathered by the Association Assistance et Recherche de Personnes Diffparues (ARPD), his tall figure wanders around, uncertain, as if the weight of the pain could make it shake at any moment. He greets some well-known faces, some of them have become friends: this is the third time they have met. All haunted by the same question: where have the people they loved gone? Overnight, each of them lost a son, a daughter, a companion.

Police and gendarmerie investigations had failed, whether seriously conducted or botched. Until last December, the hypothesis of a serial killer appeared under the name of Nordahl Lelandais. This 35-year-old former soldier is under investigation for the murder of little Maëlys, kidnapped in Pont-de-Beauvoisin (Isère) in August 2017, and the murder of Arthur Noyer, a young corporal who went missing in Chambéry (Savoy), in April 2017. Two crimes in the same region, in Rhône-Alpes, which caused an electric shock. Several prosecutors have decided to reopen unsolved cases at the request of families wishing to verify Lelandais' possible involvement.

Former Commissioner Bernard Valézy, in charge of the ARPD, organised this meeting in Lyon to "take stock" of the investigations, but also, once again, to highlight the struggle of these families. This Thursday, the presence of the parents of Arthur Noyer, one of Lelandais' alleged victims, helped to attract journalists. "We wanted to support the families," explained Cécile Noyer, the young man's mother. I am appalled by the lack of information they are able to get." Her husband, Didier Noyer, was militant, "in war mode," as he himself says: "We must not give a victory to "the other" by hiding on ourselves." "The other" meaning Nordahl Lelandais.

Sitting at the large rectangular table in the meeting room, Régis Pique listens to each other's stories but the discouragement can be seen on his face. "There's nothing new, it's going in circles. What hope to keep?" he wonders. Six years ago, he lived in a farmhouse in the Drôme region with his friend Eric Foray, 46 years old. The two men wanted to open a delicatessen but were having financial problems. On September 16, 2016, around noon, Eric Foray took the wheel of his 4x4 to go shopping. Two CCTV cameras recorded his last signs of life. At the cash register of a bakery, he appears smiling, joking with the saleswoman. Then he evaporated.

"An investigating judge was appointed this year, his companion told L'Express. I myself had asked for our house to be searched. The gendarmes turned everything upside down. They interviewed people Eric didn't even know, like the cleaning lady in my gym. And there's nothing new happening."

The Lelandais trail leaves him doubtful, as do most of the families present at this meeting, aware that the affair served as a trigger to restart their case, but that it does not constitute a key to the enigma. All remain suspended pending the future conclusions of the gendarmerie.

Since January, the latter has set up a cell called Ariane to trace Lelandais' "life course" in relation to 900 disappearances, unsolved murders and unidentified bodies found in some 20 departments. The results of this painstaking work are coming in slowly. Some cases were exhumed from the press archives, based on search notices, and the gendarmes discovered that missing persons had since been found.

Three scenarios arise for the gendarmes. Files that lack information, sometimes too old for mobile telephony to be used. Those in which the Lelandais hypothesis is excluded because his presence was reported at another location. And those where leads deserve to be explored, not necessarily in connection with this alleged killer.

In Grenoble and Chambéry, according to our information, the public prosecutors recently received a table listing cases where Lelandais' liability is ruled out. But the surveys reopened this year in Rhône-Alpes are not among them. And the families' expectations continue.

The association wishes to take the fight beyond the case of the alleged killer of Maëlys and Arthur Noyer. In January 2018, they sent the Ministry of Justice a list of 33 proposals to better take into account these judicial mysteries. The chancery has still not responded. Among these ideas, the creation of a file listing all disappearances, including voluntary disappearances. A way of preventing files from falling into oblivion, but also of knowing how many French people disappear each year. This figure is difficult to assess, as the ARPD refers to 1,000 unsolved cases per year. Several judicial sources believe that the estimate is excessive, without being more precise.

In Grenoble, where the Lelandais drama began, prosecutor Jean-Yves Coquillat encourages the creation of such a database. "We already have a wanted persons file, the RPF, but there are gaps," he told L'Express. As soon as the investigation is closed, the person is removed from the records."

In addition to the Lelandais case, the magistrate himself reopened four cases in January after acknowledging that the investigations had not always been thorough at the time. "I regretted not having received the families at the time. Seeing people is a way of knowing that their concerns are not unfounded. Today, I would act differently." These four cases have not yet been the subject of official conclusions from the Ariane cell. "But at the moment, there is no way to connect them to Lelandais," the prosecutor says.

Even when suicide or accident remain the most credible assumptions, the criminal possibility is never excluded. And the enigma that goes with all interpretations. Prosecutor Jean-Yves Coquillat acknowledges: "What creates a feeling of amazement is that in our ultra-policed society, we can still disappear without ever being found."

I'm not sure of this newspaper - anymore. The way the translated Noyer last name??!!

Sexual assault on minor: Nordahl Lelandais heard by the judges | The Koz Post

So he had already been indicted for the murder of the little Maëlys de Araujo and the murder of Arthur Drowning, ex-military, 35 years has been the subject of numerous investigations, in particular, to discover if he could be involved in other cases.
......
The track Nordahl Lelandais has been discussed on several hundreds of cases of disappearances in recent years, and rejected in the great majority of cases. The cell of investigators specially set up for this purpose, however, has sometimes pushed further his research. However, no indictment has been passed against him outside of business Maëlys, Walnut and of the sexual assault alleged.

Arthur Walnut is a great friend of mine. There were times when I read and wrote about him daily. Always took care to restore his real name.

KozPost uses google translations and does not check the result.
The verb noyer means to drown.
Un noyer is a walnut tree.

Never trust these translators. Always check, check and check again. The result, is it English? Does it flow? or is it just a string of words? And so on. Read it aloud if you have to. And even then, mistakes will slip through.

Bernard Boulloud: " In 7 cases, the Lelandais trail is not closed "

They are always trying to find out what happened to their loved ones. About fifteen families were reunited in Lyon at the initiative of the Association Assistance et Recherche de personnes disparues (ARPD) on Thursday 20 September 2018, to take stock of their cases and to try to determine whether those they are looking for may have crossed the path of Nordahl Lelandais. So, are there any advances in the files of those present? - We talk about it with Bernard Boulloud, lawyer for Arthur Noyer's parents. - BFM Story, Thursday, September 20, 2018, presented by Thomas Misrachi, on BFMTV.

Video, interview with Bernard Boulloud, and with images of the families who were attending in the background. Adrien Fiorello's mother, Régis Pique, Dalila Boutvillain, the sister of Malik who disappeared. The parents of Arthur Noyer were there, they are shocked to discover that there are families who are suffering for so long and get no help. Their lawyer tells that they want answers from Nordahl Lelandais, they want to know how their son died. They also want to help improve the support for families of the missing.
Another important remark of the lawyer is that the investigations should not be limited to Nordahl Lelendais, this would damage the families even more.

The good news is that even though many years have passed, the investigations are moving slowly forward. And in seven files, the lawyer is not allowed to tell which ones, the trail of Nordahl Lelandais has not been closed.

Maëlys case: reconstruction scheduled for Monday with Nordahl Lelandais

This reconstruction is scheduled to take place during the night from Monday to Tuesday. It will happen under the watchful eye of the gendarmes who will close all accesses. A sealed-off passage will be set up. Already postponed due to leaks in the press, the reconstruction of the kidnapping and killing of little Maëlys De Araujo, 8 years old, is due to start in the evening.

The little girl, who was attending a wedding with her parents at the village hall of Pont-de-Beauvoisin (Isère), was abducted on 27 August 2017 in the early morning by former dog handler, Nordahl Lelandais, 35 years of age. He was indicted and imprisoned for the kidnapping and murder of the little girl from the Jura region. A few months later, he was charged with the death of Corporal Noyer.

The objective of this reconstruction under the same time conditions as at the time of the events is to confront the suspect with his continuous highly fragmented statements. Nordahl Lelandais explained that he had killed the child by "accident" after a slap while the girl had, according to him, gone into his car to see his dogs. Dogs were Maëlys' passion.

The three investigating judges in charge of the case, at the criminal division of the Grenoble court (Isère), are to take the former soldier to the various locations of this tragic night of 27 August 2017. First, the multipurpose room of Pont-de-Beauvoisin, the place of the disappearance.

Then, according to the suspect's scenario, the passage to his home in Domessin (Savoie) will follow, before his departure to deposit the body on the slopes of Mont Grêle, in Attignat-Oncin (Savoie). It was there that the girl's body was found six months later in February 2018.

During this reconstruction, the court will want to understand how the suspect made different round trips between the multi-purpose room, where the wedding celebration was held, and his home. It is also there, a few metres from the house, behind a garden shed, at a neighbour's house, that he claims to have hidden Maëlys' body, before returning to the wedding, then leaving it in the middle of the forest.

IMHO this is another leak .... hope they do not postpone this time!
