GA GA - Charles 'Chuckie' Mauk, 13, Warner Robins, 17 Feb 1986

This case has three witnesses who must have agreed on that realistic sketch. Wonder if there are any pictures to be had of Gary Hilton at that time? Obviously it was probably not someone from town as the car or suspect was not known. I hope this case will be solved.

First of all they aren't looking for a white male, the guy who shot Chuckie is black. After much search of who the killer is...

The sketch is just a witness or it is a suspect? Boomeroreo's post that the shooter was black is throwing me off because dude in the sketch appears to be white.

And we're to believe a woman driving down the road saw all that detail? Does she have a photographic memory or something?

More info on the last witness to see Chuckie, the woman:

"The woman, who was 21 then, said she was driving home along Burns Drive headed toward Russell Parkway after visiting a friend. She had her brother, then 13, and a friend of Chuckie’s, with her. They both saw Chuckie on his bicycle talking to a man inside an older white car.

As she concentrated on her driving, her brother looked back and saw Chuckie lying on the pavement. The white car was still there, the woman said. She said she figured Chuckie was playing around and fell off his bicycle. Worried about the lateness of the hour, the woman said she continued home. She has often questioned herself for not stopping. Then again, would she and her brother have been shot?"

This case haunts me. And I would really love to know why police are putting out a sketch that looks like a dead ringer for John Schneider as a person if interest. Where was he on Feb 17, 1986?? Has he been questioned because he has Georgia connections? Not kidding. I'm at a loss.

Anybody know what LE agency produced/released the sketch? (I hunted around a little but couldn't find the answer -- may be just missing it.)

Regardless of the subject's resemblance to any celebrities...does his right eye look to anyone besides me as if something kinda weird's up with it? Almost like he might be blind in one eye, have a glass eye, lazy eye -- SOMETHING?

Was anything like that ever mentioned in any physical description (in words, I mean) that anyone remembers?

ETA: Also -- I read in one of the links that an age-progressed sketch was eventually done ... and I'm thinking the one that shows earlier in the thread is the age-progressed one, because (bbm in the body of the quote):

Boy went on bike for bubble gum, met a killer

...At the time of the shooting, several people said they saw Chuck with his bike speaking to a man in his late teens or early 20s. The man was behind the wheel of a white car, possibly a Buick or an Oldsmobile Cutlass, said Harry Enckler, a retired captain who ran the investigation at the Houston County Sheriff's Office. ...

Guy in the sketch looks older than that...?

Just to continue the thoughts in my post immediately above:

If the sketch that shows in the thread IS the age-progressed one, has anybody found a link to the original one, showing the guy younger?

IMO, though it's great to have an age-progressed sketch, the original still needs to be looked at -- some who knew the person in 1986 and might recognize him from that might NOT be familiar with how he looks as an older man.

While I was stopped at a Red light during lunch the truck in front of me had a sticker on the back window that read "In Memory of Chuckie Mauk". Brought the case right back up for me. I really wish this was a case that will be solved.

Wow, I can see how it would! I feel the same --wishing this case would be solved.

KENT: Boy’s killing still echoes in Warner Robins
BY ALLINE KENT - SUN NEWS CORRESPONDENT
June 3, 2015

There is a reason that my children were never allowed to walk home from school by themselves or ride their bikes by themselves.

The reason is Chuckie Mauk.

I was in my early 20s in February 1986 and was gathered with some friends in a parking lot across from the bowling alley, talking and making plans for the evening when it seemed that every police car in the world came down Russell Parkway.

"Middle Georgia Cold Cases: Who Killed Chuckie Mauk?"

http://www.41nbc.com/story/d/story/middle-georgia-cold-cases-who-killed-chuckie-mauk/18224/ZKWLD1en2Uec0qIjW6DkSQ

"They turned the neighborhood inside out. They canvassed the neighborhood. They set up road checks during that time just to find people that had seen things. Even to this day we get calls with people that either have some information or have an idea about who may have been involved," Holland said.

There's still no suspect.

As a straight male, I would just like to say that that is the best looking composite I have ever seen.

Seriously, that guy may not look exactly like Burt Reynolds but he is a genuine 50-year-old movie star. In fact a composite like that makes me suspicious of the person who gave it.

Looks kinda like George Clooney, too.

Being such a small town in Southern Georgia in 1986, I cannot imagine a CSI-type investigation even being available. If this had happened in the past 10 years, this case would be solved, IMO.

.....for the arrest and conviction of the person who shot and killed a 13-year-old boy in a Warner Robins parking lot more than 18 years ago.
On Feb. 17, 1986 Charles "Chuckie" Mauk was shot in the head in the parking lot of the former Giant Food store ...off Russell Parkway. He and a friend had ridden their bicycles from their homes about a block away to the store to buy some gum and candy.
........
Chuckie was found by his parents lying in the parking lot near his bike, Miller said. He was still clutching the bubble gum he had bought at the store, Clark said.
......
Authorities do know that Chuckie was seen shortly before his body was discovered at 8:15 p.m. that Monday talking to a man who was driving a white vehicle in the parking lot.......

Looking at this case after hearing Bessie talk about it on true crime radio and wondering what the situation was with the friend Chuckie road to the store with, does anyone know? Did he leave sooner then Chuckie? See anyone?
