Jamarkus Burnside, 16, was reported missing last week in the Stone Mountain area. His mother flagged down an officer and said her son frequented stores at the intersection of Central Drive and North Hairston Road. He was last seen at a convenience store Wednesday morning.

Jamarkus is described at 5-foot-4-inches tall, weighing about 135 pounds with dark brown eyes and hair.

The teen’s sister, ... , told the news station her brother has never run away from home.

“At this point, somebody knows something,” she said. “Somebody either has my brother, and not saying anything, and they need to say something because this is not OK. His whole family is here worried for him.”

17-year-old missing for months last seen at DeKalb gas station

Jamarkus Burnside was just 16 when he was last seen in August at a Chevron gas station on North Hairston Road in in DeKalb County. His family and friends haven’t heard from him since.

He went to the store like he normally (does) on a day-to-day basis. He was at the store between the hours of 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. and he was no longer seen after 12 p.m.,” his mother, Nikki Burnside, said.

Human remains found near I-20 in DeKalb

Posting due to location


A contractor discovered bones and sheets inside a container just off the road near the intersection and called police. Investigators confirmed that the remains were human.

Neither the identity of the body nor the cause of death could be determined at the scene.
