Concerned family members rallied outside the Troup County Courthouse, demanding justice for their loved ones. Some are missing, and others were murdered. Their cases remain unsolved.

Tamara McCoy’s niece Olivia Fowler disappeared nearly two years ago.

[...]

Nearly two years after her disappearance, the family is working to keep her case in the spotlight, while waiting to learn if human remains found in the area in December are that of the missing woman.

"We’ve gotten out there," McCoy said. "We’ve pushed, we just keep pushing, and finally, after a year, the FBI got involved."

"All of our kids deserve answers," said McCoy. "Regardless of their background, their past, or where they have been, or lead in life. We all deserve answers and they deserve justice."

If I'm looking at Google Maps correctly, the distance between the 100 block of Long Road and the area where she was reportedly last seen by the DNR employee (Pebblebrook Road, near Cove Road) is about three miles due north. However, per the map there doesn't appear to be any direct walking route between those two locations. If Olivia walked the entire way from Long Road to Pebblebrook Road, she would likely have to either head east and walk north along Shirey Road or walk on Hill Street to Washington Street, walk north on Washington to Cove Road, then to Pebblebrook Road, in the general direction of Pebblebrook Golf Club. Perhaps I'm not seeing something, or looking at the map incorrectly, but that's how it looks to me.

If Olivia took one of these walking routes then the distance walked would have been much longer than three miles, and would have taken considerable time, especially considering she was wearing 'black flip flops' rather than good walking shoes.

AFAIK, based on MSM reports there's no mention of Olivia stopping anywhere along this route or possibly accepting a ride to Pebblebrook Road.

MERIWETHER COUNTY, Ga. - This past Sunday marked the second anniversary in the disappearance of a young Meriwether County mother. Olivia Fowler's family says they had a small gathering with other families of missing or murdered women in Georgia.

**********
The FBI joined the case last year. And yet, there have been no reported developments since then.

The family says they are taking matters into their own hands with the hiring of a private investigator. Funding for their own investigation has come through car washes and other events.

Human remains found in Meriwether County last December have been sent for testing, but the results are taking time.

Anyone with information should call the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office, or the FBI.

She has been found deceased, her remains were found in December 2022 and just now identified.

Olivia Fowler disappearance: Body of missing mother of 3 identified by DNA - FOX 5
<snipped & BBM>
The FBI says they have positively identified remains found in December 2022 as those of 26-year-old missing mother Olivia Fowler. The announcement comes more than two years after the Meriwether County woman was last seen.

[...]

On Monday, DNA testing performed by the FBI confirmed it was Fowler’s remains found.

Authorities say this has now pivoted from a missing person’s case to a death investigation.

"There is still much evidence to be analyzed and processed," said Sheriff Chuck Smith. "Although the outcome of the disappearance of Olivia Samantha Fowler is not what any of the family or law enforcement wanted, this investigation remains active and ongoing. Our focus now is to allow the family to grieve."

"The FBI is now calling her case a death investigation. They did not comment on if they believe foul play is involved.

The Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office did not comment on how far from where she disappeared Olivia Fowler’s body was found."

Here's the press release from when the remains were found. It says that a tip led to their discovery--I wonder what that was? Could be as simple as a hunter seeing them, but the phrasing makes me wonder/hope that there's some lead there. (The year is incorrect in the header, but correct in the actual release and corroborates with other press at that time.)

Thanks @Nancy Drew RN for posting this link from LE.

The specific location where her remains were found is not mentioned, only "a rural portion of Meriwether County, Ga."

As mentioned above, I'm wondering the same thing about this "tip" mentioned in the press release. Someone must have known the location of her remains, but at this point we don't know any more than that.

AUG 23, 2023
Starting in 2019, five women have come up missing in surrounding counties from Meriwether to Coweta, Heard and Harris County. TM, Fowler’s aunt and organizers of Murder Moms, OA, believe they may be connected.

Her niece's remains were found off this dirt road, deep into the woods of Meriwether County on Dec. 22, 2022.

"Think woods, very thick, it was a dirt road off the main road," McCoy said.

Fowler’s relatives have asked for privacy, Smith said.

“The family would like the public to know that Olivia was not only a mother, but a daughter, a sister, a grandchild, and an important member of the Fowler family,” the sheriff said.
