Happy to hear the news. Wasn’t there something recently about her Mom trying to get the kids? Whatever happened with that?

Right... I don't know what happened there either.

Remember how glued we all were to watching this case roll out in front of us
I am still haunted by this adorable little boy.
And still haunted with the same ol message about drugs drugs drugs.......

It’s all evidence that has to do with Leilani Simon’s prior criminal history, circumstances in the houseprior to Quinton’s disappearance, and her behavior while police were searching for her son.

Much of the evidence presented in the state’s latest motion in the Leilani Simon trial is what’s known as intrinsic evidence which is evidence that can put an alleged crime into context.

In this case, the prosecution is asking to introduce several pieces of this type of evidence including evidence of Leilani’s “antipathy” towards Quinton. The motion says that Leilani “never bonded with Quinton” the way she did her two other children.

The motion specifically mentions an instance where Leilani was seen “partying” on Tybee Island, and “insisted to the media” the she believed her son had been abducted. During that time- she gave an exclusive interview to WTOC where she discussed that belief.

The hearing on whether this evidence can be admitted into a trial is coming up within the next two months. A trial is scheduled to take place in October. WTOC will continue to cover the case.

Leilani Simon, the former Burke County resident accused of killing her toddler Quinton and discarding his body in a dumpster, made an appearance in court on Friday.

Lawyers are arguing what evidence should be admitted in trial.

He also asked the judge to consider videos, text messages, and interviews that he says show Simon and her boyfriend at the time having relationship difficulties.

Prosecutors want statements from Quinton’s babysitter admitted, saying the babysitter “had some information to provide an instance of actual physical violence.”

Simon’s lawyers pushed back saying these personal details should not be admissible because they’re irrelevant to the charges Simon faces.

Judge Tammy Stokes did not make a ruling Friday. She did, however, rule just days ago to deny the defense’s motion to quash some of the charges Simon faces.

The next hearing in this case is set for next month before an expected Oct. 9 trial date.

Another hearing is scheduled for September 17 to address any remaining issues before the murder trial begins on October 9.

I looked and didn't see anything on the 9/17 hearing? Hopefully the trial begins as scheduled.
I never saw anything on this either! Does anyone know if the case is going forward as planned? Is there any info on how long this will last? Thanks <3

After a long search the best information I found was from a Newsweek article dated August 30, indicating that the September status hearing was cancelled and the October 9 trial is still scheduled:

The murder trial starts on October 9 at the Chatham County Courthouse. The Superior Court Administrator told Newsweek that the final hearing, originally scheduled for September 17, has been canceled.

The article reported that there were a couple motions still pending. I couldn’t find anything about them. I hope the trial doesn’t get delayed, it’s time for Quinton to get justice.
