Brian Steel, who is currently representing Young in the #YSL RICO gang case, is now a member of the defense team that’s representing a metro Atlanta attorney who had his murder conviction overturned in a suspected road rage incident

Brian Steel just told the judge presiding over this road rage case that he believes the #YSL RICO gang case will run through the first quarter of 2025.

#YoungThug's attorneys have filed a motion to:

- Respond to the motion for a gag order by the state- Motion to adopt Stillwell's and Kendrick's motion for a fair and constitutional trial (mistrial motions)- Notice to not join Nichol's motion for mistrial

Similar to Weinstein's response, Brian Steel and Keith Adams also note instances that DA Fani Willis has talked about the case in the media, including a podcast interview with @MinaAnnLee and @neonflag and the May 2022 press conference announcing the YSL indictments.

Young 's attorneys mention that "Judge and lawyers Love and Hylton violated" the rapper's rights causing him "to be goaded into moving for a mistrial." "(Young ) does not join in Mr. Nichols’ Motion for Mistrial without Double Jeopardyprotection," Steel wrote.

"This past month and a half alone finds Mr. Williams helplessly trapped in a cell based upon the intentional misconduct of lawyers Love and Hylton and the recused Judge," Steel wrote.Steel added that bond must be granted. "This “trial” is not fit for a kangaroo," he wrote.

In the motion, Steel refers to Glanville at times as "the recused Judge." He said they will "be inquiring of the recused Judge as to the reason that Mr. Williams had to endure suffering in custody months of unnecessary individualjury hardship questioning."

The DA's office also filed a response to Young 's motion seeking to disqualify prosecutors Adriane Love and Simone Hylton from the case."Defendant cites no facts and no law that authorize this Honorable Court to disqualify either CDDA Love or DDA Hylton."

Judge Whitaker says she has decided what to tell the jurors when they return to court next week for the YSL trial“Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Judge Whitaker. Judge Glanville is no longer the judge presiding over this case for which you have been selected and sworn to try."

1:51 PM · Aug 2, 2024

“I will be the presiding judge in this case moving forward. You are not to concern yourself with this change," she plans to tell them. (She says she'll also tell them Judge Glanville is fine so they don't worry about him.)

Love objected before Steel finished his question and Whitaker asked her to wait until the question is finished before raising an objection.

Max Schardt is asking Melnick questions now.

Love's objections keep getting overruled by Judge Whitaker.

Chief Deputy DA Adriane Love is now questioning Melnick, who instead of standing next to Love, decides to take the witness stand.

Whitaker is allowing lawyers to talk about these emails for a while.

Melnick said he has spoken to Copeland multiple times in the past year.Melnick said he won't tell Love about any communication he had with Copeland.

Schardt is the one that called Melnick to tell him Copeland was going to testify.

Love seems to be under the impression that Melnick never indicated that he was representing Copeland as a witness in the #YSL Trial.Melnick said he told them he represented Copeland as a witness.

Whitaker just told attorneys that they've been going for more than an hour on this topic and told them to wrap it up because it's not relevant.

Love just read this email in court, asking Melnick if he thinks Copeland is in danger from anyone in the state.

Melnick is done.

We are going on a 12 minute break and will be back 10:30 a.m.

We are going to deal with "omitted parts of the transcript.”

Attorney Doug Weinstein is asking Judge Whitaker to be able to play a TikTok video.

Weinstein is arguing the transcript is complete, only for when Glanville was in the room.He argues there was a portion of the meeting that was not in the transcript because it didn't involve Glanville. The video is of Copeland and Kayla Bumpus discussing the June 10 meeting.

Weinstein said he got his information from Ms. Bumpus about them all being in the same room without Glanville discussing things about themselves. Argues that's when Copeland talked about the Donovan Thomas murder.

Love asked for a bench conference but attorneys are trying to figure out how the listening devices work so the court reporter can hear and transcribe.

We are taking a break to allow Weinstein to be able to listen to the video again and then to be able to write what was said so he can provide his proffer.

We are back.

Weinstein is describing the video, in which Kayla Bumpus asks Copeland if the transcript is complete and Copeland shakes his head to indicate no.
