I think any community/neighbor info (not in MSM) can be taken for what it's worth. We know so little that (IMO) can't hurt us. We can each believe it or not. Most of the people commenting here are regulars and have chewed on all the same info over and over. There's really been nothing "new" via MSM in a long time. If we have a tidbit, a nugget or nothing... Its still new. Again, we know so little from friends and neighbors... I like "considering" any info we get.

I don't like info without sources, WS is above RUMORS, or used to be, we can all conjure up things in our head without any help

I would hope people would consider the FACTS first, posted in response to that rumor otherwise this site is useless, im kind of stunned that people would be willing to just chew on anything without proof and post it all here

I would LOVE to have some nugget.... but of truth and sources

We don't need to destroy the thread and all of us should go by the same standards, this thread is 5 years old so alot of the FACTS are no longer sourced as they were already sourced years ago....so those who just came in should do their homework first, things being discussed time and again have already been sourced so do your homework if you just joined this thread... say...in late 2018

I FIND THIS INFORMATION USEFUL AND RESOURCEFUL...……..IF MAPLES WAS INDEED IN ASIA with church.....it was never posted or stated anywhere so wasn't 100% sure

but this is significant that she was in ASIA with the Church as we have all wondered that whoever did this, mustve known the killers KNEW the neighbors were gone and knew about the derby party, maybe, maybe not

but this information tells me that people in their Church KNEW THE D"S neighbors were out of the country and therefore were even better sitting ducks due to this fact

as well as the family knew...... as the daughter is friends with Maples on fb and also had attended the church service on Easter with parents
 
As far as habits go....I know my sister does the crossword puzzle every morning and won't do anything else until she's completed it. My sister lives far away but I've cruised with her so I know this to be true. She's also a tad OCD and very smart so I have no doubt the crossword is finished before she does anything else.

I too would be annoyed if neighbors dropped by unannounced. I may be in the middle of something and or better yet, my house may not have been presentable for "guests" even if they were just neighbors. I probably wouldn't invite the asking for water guests in either. Sounds like a ploy from snoopy neighbors who just want to see the house. All my opinion.
 
Just as an aside.. when I am traveling/on vacation, spending leisure time perhaps with others (in my fam or otherwise), I tend to do things which are not part of my normal day-to-day, regular-life activities while NOT on vacation/traveling. I like some crosswords too, but I can tend to get hooked on Sudoku.. but during 'normal life', I don't ever, and wouldn't ever, spend the time to do it. Ever. But my family members, if they found a Sudoku thingy after I got murdered, might assume that I must've done it in the morning, since that's when I would've done it while with them on vacation or whatever.

The kids can say what they know from the past, or what they've noticed recently, but I don't think we can depend 100% that the normal schedule may not have changed once in awhile, or ever. It's a clue for sure, just like the unmade bed, the toppled lampshade, and RD being found in his bathrobe. I wonder if the newspaper delivery person (I wonder if the newspaper *was* delivered, or did they pick it up daily from somewhere?) was interviewed to see when exactly it was delivered (if it was), and if they noticed anything at all?

Real Estate records are Perpetual in Records with public access through the County Assessor's Office. The standard for financial records for the IRS is 7 years for Personal Records and 10 years for Business Records. Many Business entities will maintain longer for purposes of proof of profits to bolster the value of Corporation. As far as SS being able to REQUIRE records past 10 years would be doubtful IMO.

Hello sleuthers......i hope some of you earlier sleuthers can help

Early in the investigation there was a post somewhere online by someone and im thinking it was the preacher Key of the Oconee church

It appeared he posted a trip video on a certian day which placed him out of town on the day of the dermonds deaths

But.....upon further scrutiny, the real upload date was actually AFTER the dermonds death

I don't remember much else but would like to revisit this info if anyone knows or remembers and can give details, maybe bootsctr

I agree about WS "generally" not allowing rumors. BUT since the opinions/thoughts and speculations of locals were included in WS own short-lived "into the case" podcast... Seems okay in this situation. Of course that's jmo... As usual. I will just let a mod come slap me if my opinion is a violation

Wonder if "into the case" will ever resume??

I remember this. Seems the video was posted on his YT and showed him driving into an apt/condo complex... If it's the one your thinking of.

I dont remember that rumor on the podcast.....but WS mods have slapped many LOL, but not about opinions, about rumors, my opinion is that someone did do something, how it happened IDK but to blatantly state that someone showed up when they may not have is a rumor, that's all Im saying

I know I keep waiting to see whats up on the case, maybe not going to finish it, IDK
 
If that story about the 2 neighborhood women randomly paying a visit was true, or a rumor, is really inconsequential. Most people (perhaps especially women) aren't going to invite random neighborhood people they don't really know into their home in the first place. And perhaps especially if the homeowner might have company over, and a homeowner may have felt that random neighbors may have simply been being nosey - since at least one visitor vehicle would presumably have been in the driveway. Sounds and voices can be heard many times which can turn out to be a TV or radio or computer podcast, whatever, so who knows if people were actually present in real life or not. So the information is relatively meaningless, but any little tidbit might spark another thought or memory, or something.

We already know the Ds had friends, as some were quoted in the news around the time of their murders, they had a party to go to with their friends, SD was president of her bridge club IIRC, etc., so it's not like they had a reputation of unfriendliness or reclusiveness or anything. And we can't really make assumptions that nobody other than fam was ever allowed inside a home just because a couple of people randomly at the door were not invited inside one time and especially when perhaps company was over. I guess the interesting part of the story may have been that there may have been company inside, but then we already know that the Ds' daughter had visited around Easter, two weeks earlier I believe, which dates would perhaps coincide with that cold call. Some people don't like entertaining or hosting friends in their own home... for whatever their own reasons may be - I'm sure there can be plenty of reasons as to why, valid or not valid, agreed with or not agreed with, sensible or nonsensical - perhaps the Ds may have preferred being guests rather than hosts in their elder years. Or not.

Having followed true crime stories for a very long time, to me, it seems money is a major motivator, when people are murdered. So, I look at those who would have profited from the elder Dermond’s demise. A couple in their late 80s, statistically, are not candidates for a gruesome murder. Someone wanted them out of the way. Why?

Sadly, I didnt save any messages nor other info related to this. IIRC, at that time I decided to dismiss the info because the member (sending it to me) didn't specify exactly why he was of interest to her. Nothing was provided to me to indicate he had a reason to be involved, nor do I remember any info about him being of questionable character. Kwim?

I may be completely wrong but I thought the person in the video had spoken to a reporter or two soon after the murders. IF (on the outside chance) I am correct then his name and any comment he made would be in old MSM reports.
