Great posts everyone! Thanks for the link about Sills. What if . . . somebody has a beef with Sills. Somebody maybe from the cult he broke up. Or maybe Sills ticked somebody off at GW. Somebody from GW went to Sills complaining about cars being broken into and people speeding within the community and Sills makes the comment about that's y'all's business, y'all handle it. You pay dues for security and your security should be doing their job. So this person has it in for Sills (and LE in general assuming) and since Sills thinks he so smart maybe he'll just give him a case that he can't solve and show him who is boss. So this perp picks a couple at random - well sort of at random - the Dermonds' location is prime as far as secluded within the community. He kills Mr. Dermond and knowing that without a head, identifying the body is going to take time. . . delay the investigation. . . which is going to drive Sills batty. Said perp kills Mrs. D and takes her body leaving the Sheriff to wonder if Mrs. D is still alive, or if Mrs. D could be the perp herself. Again this is wasting the Sheriff's precious time in locating Mrs. D. The house is immaculate, wiped clean. No fingerprints. No DNA. Nothing, nada. Means everybody in the area is a suspect - lot of people to question and have them fill out the questionaire. It's been several weeks. Perp decides it is time to taunt Sills a bit. Sends an innocent somebody into the Huddle House to ask for the surveillance tapes. This infuriates Sills. He still has no clue as to who did this and it won't be long before the perp chooses another victim/victims to kill and again flaunt his excellent predatory and deadly skills. He thinks he smarter than Sills, he thinks and he is quite enjoying this game of cat and mouse. The clock is ticking. . . tick. . . tock. .. tick. . . tock.

Okay that's my out of the box. How's that sound?

So if you and backwoods solve this, WS will fax your check :floorlaugh:

Really this sounds very plausible about the nuwabian thing, (to me now anyway)

OMG, I hope not a reporter!! He'd be in a world of dung if he'd gotten his hands on that, think??

Who though would WANT that tape of HH?? I'm like you, could it have been the perp acting as a detective maybe and also, DID HH have a tape of that day and what did HH tell him?? Or did they just contact LE?

I would think Sheriff Sills might think a reporter trying to get hold of tapes for a story would consider that inserting one's self into an investigation or obstruction of justice. . . something like that. Or maybe it's the perp  :cop: :poke: challenging Sills like a game of chess. It's your move Sills.

I think we are not even sure there ARE\WERE any tapes.

Cannot remember the wording but something to do with police wanting to track down any information possible about a man who was inquiring after video tapes from the Huddle House.

So could just have been someone inquiring if they had surveillance and the employee found them or their question odd and phoned in the tip.

ETA I just had the most bizarre thought - what if its a WSer or someone like us, who follows true crime on some other forum? What if the person was just chatting an employee up and asked if they had heard about the murders and what was the local scuttlbutt and I notice there is a boat dock down the road a pice, do you all have exterior surveillence etc etc

That would be AMAZING! I'm coming to Lake Oconee to vacation with the money. Won't hold my breath though. We know what happens when you hold your breathing driving through tunnels now. . .

I cannot rule out a true crime person getting into this and asking the locals questions about the case. It makes sense that someone like a WebSleuther would think to ask if the Huddle House had tapes and then forward that information on to Sheriff Sills.

Boots gets the prize for outside the box so far - that's my vote

ETA I say that because it still supports my theory that the Deromonds were random but became necessary to kill for self preservation

when is the book getting published?:floorlaugh:

That's pretty good stuff, BUT I think Backwoods said early on that it cuold be the Nuwabian connection, but the way you spelled it out, it makes sense to me

also interesting that the son said it could be a cult connection and they are getting weird phone calls, I'm gonna flip if that is what this is about, cause I kept thinking BUT WHY THE DERMONDS??

I guess it had to be SOMEBODY and also, the fact that the son said something about cult, maybe SILLS DOES KNOW something and he had mentinoed it to RD son

And that last part, OH BOY, what IF?!!

ARGH!! I hope they know and can tell soemthing sooooon!!

It was Backwoods comment about the Nuwabian connection/cult thing that made me think and the link to the article that Sheriff Sills wasn't a good ole boy and I think he must have made some enemies along his way to becoming sheriff and after becoming sheriff. Those cult people are strange. We have a small cult close to where I live. Nobody messes with them and they don't mess with anybody outside the camp.

Thanks tlcya! I hope I didn't break any TOS rules, and if Sheriff Sills happens to be a good ole macon boy reading here, I hope I didn't make him mad.
:moose:

Who knows if the paper got the details correct in the article but they reported that the man told the business he needed to see surveillance tapes.

sounds like a Movie of the Week plot.

So has there been anything new today? Haven't read back too far yet and werk was hectic

Wonder if the person meant see as in view or see as in hand them over to me?

So many twists and turns in this case

Sounds pretty dayum good to me! After I read the article, I had the same thoughts - someone/s has a beef with Sills. I made my mind stop there though.
The cat and mouse game, everything you posted sounds like what is happening.

Do you have thoughts on what type of person would be the next potential victim/s? elderly? nice neighborhood? maybe more than two victims?

This is really scary to think about.

I think someone on WS did something like that on another case a few years back and got into a world sheeeite

SO THAT scenario would indeed make it random unless the D's ticked them off too LOL

Thanks! The book will be a collaberative effort and everyone here on this thread will get a portion of the profits. . . :twocents:

It seems Sills is getting the most attention, but maybe that's the way he wants it. Taking some of the heat off the Dermond family and the neighborhood at GW.

I think the next victim will be elderly too and maybe another couple. Nice neighborhood. If it's someone who is already in the RP neighborhoods, he's probably the nicest person you could ever meet and no one suspects him. He doesn't have serial killer stamped on his forehead. Everyone should beware though! He'll take whomever has their guard down.

welll, I guess Carolinapeach won't EVER get back up to the lake then!!:scared::scared: anad maybe not me either, was about to let go my fears, even tho I'm not in that area, hell, who knows where he/they'll go, there's enough confusion in this case it SEEMS that they just may throw in another crazy crazy crazy......soemthing! but I AM in what's considered Eatonton too though !!

I was thinking ID - Southern Fried Homicide.

Sounds like Georgia doesn't it?

:floorlaugh: Holy cow-girl (no pun intended ) :floorlaugh: you'd fit right in, bring them ole dancin' boots down here, errrr, OVER here, sounds great and we bootscoot here too!!
