A Georgia man has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for his role in the death of a teacher, according to our ABC affiliate, WJBF.

Investigators believe Prince overdosed, and Adams concealed her death, dumped her body in the woods, and lied about it when questioned.

Authorities tell us the search for Prince went on for much longer than it had to because of Adams’ false statements and lack of cooperation.

He’s been charged with one count of concealing the death of another and six counts of false statements. A judge sentenced him to 40 years.

Honestly, I'm wondering why a sentence of 40 years was imposed based on the charges? I've seen far less in what I would consider worse crimes, JMO. She was found a week later.

Yes, that sentence is as long as many murder sentences. Even if LE had proof that Adams supplied the drugs, hid the body, and lied to LE, 40 years still seems rather extreme. And it sounds like LE's evidence was pretty circumstantial given that they "believe" Tina ODed.

Adams certainly did wrong here, but does he for all intents and purposes deserve life in prison? Given the little info that has been released, it's hard to say.

Drugs ruin many lives. You can make a strong case that dealing drugs should carry the death penalty here like it does in Singapore. I don't have a problem with a 40-year sentence.

I don't have a problem with stiff sentences, but this one stood out to me as unusual- in contrast to what we see in other cases. Maybe prior crimes played a role, I know he had a record but don't remember details.

I am Tina's mother,as to the amount of time he was given,he was serving time for probation violation..he was charged with 6 counts of making false statements, which was 5 yrs each and one count of concealing a body,10 yrs...my daughter was missing 7days,dumped in the woods in 100 degree heat....he claimed at his hearing that they were smoking pot and apparently it was laced, she fell according to his son and he took her inside..he attempted to render no aid....he disposed of her the next morning, called her phone pretending everything was ok....yes he got a harsh sentence,in my opinion he should have..do you have any idea of the hell we have been through the past 2 yrs...he showed no remorse....however or whatever you feel about his sentence,he was cruel,he was a cold, uncaring individual ...my daughter's body was unrecognizable and had to be cremated.....her death was undetermined....he got what he deserved..imo.....but I am her mother....

I am beyond sorry for your loss and everything you have been through. I personally can’t write on this forum what type of punishment I think he should get. I would be banned.
I don’t believe for a second that they smoked laced weed. That’s crap. I think he did something to her to cause her death and then attempted to cover his butt.
I pray that you will somehow find a measure of peace knowing he’s locked away for a long time. I know it will never bring her back. I am so sorry.
Prayers to you.

First of all, I'm SO sorry for your loss and for what you had to endure since Tina was reported missing. And I 100% agree with you. These cases need to be punished severely, people need to know that in case of a medical emergency related to drug use, you HAVE TO call 911. I can't even believe people are more worried about how much trouble they could get in for being caught with drugs than for being caught disposing of someone's body.

Again, I'm so sorry for your loss. Tina didn't deserve this and neither did you guys.

I have recently learned through being allowed to see evidence and reading the autopsy just how cruel he was to my daughter...he was repeatedly asked if she overdosed,he repeatedly said no...he claims he went to bed and when he got up she was gone, and then quote "he took the trash off....he said at his hearing he planned on putting her in a chalk hole, which is filled with water but was unable to...when he went to dispose of her he took his kids with him, stopped at his workplace and put his phone in another vehicle... Thankfully Tina's phone was with her, which is how they find her...he denied knowing where she was even after they found her..when he disposed of her,he did the most awful thing anyone could have done,he degraded her by pulling her pants down to her knees and her shirt over her head....I am not excusing my daughter, she made mistakes, but she didn't deserve this....after reading the autopsy report ,I am no longer certain of how she died..but if was an overdose,he could have called for help..and his defense was he was afraid he would lose his kids...the only person he was trying to save was himself.....40 years will never be enough for what he did to my daughter, but I am thankful to the judge and DA for fighting for my daughter.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I hope you didn’t take my post where I remarked about his sentence- as being sympathetic. I’m happy at the thought he won’t likely live outside of prison walls again.
