There are injuries and a number of victims being transferred to hospital, including one person being airlifted by medical helicopter to Athens. Verified by CNN.

CNN saying that the students have now been released to their parents, so it seems as if this was a fairly quick event. Safe to say the shooter is out of the picture.

Watching 11Alive (local channel), they've released students to be picked up by parents/guardians, but nothing about victims or shooter(s) just yet. Kemp is sending state resources in response.
As a teacher's wife, this is my worst nightmare.
IMO

A source from a hospital in the area said they are receiving patients with gunshot wounds related to the shooting.

A second medic helicopter was later seen arriving at the school.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp said he “directed all available state resources to respond to the incident at Apalachee High School.”

“We will continue to work with local, state, and federal partners as we gather information and further respond to this situation,” Kemp said on X.

The school is on a hard lockdown and students were evacuated

An aerial view of a circular drive-around at a school, with a cluster of law enforcement vehicles and personnel gathered in the center on the grass.

Footage from WSB-TV, a local news outlet, showed parents lining up in cars to pick up their children, many of whom had gathered on the high school’s football field.

At least five ambulances and a large active law enforcement presence were at the campus, according to video from outside the school. A least one medical helicopter could be seen airlifting a patient from the scene. Footage at the scene also showed people gathering on a football field near the school as students appeared to pray.

Apalachee High School belongs to the Barrow County School System, which told CNN students have been cleared to leave and parents have been notified to pick them up. Transportation will be provided to students who need it, the district said.

Another school shooting, in the United States. I am interested in the response by Department of Education, for a proactive plan going forward to keep staff and children safe in schools.
Thats gonna be something law makers will have to figure out.

Unless they spend billions to turn schools into bulletproof bunkers, this stuff is gonna keep happening

crazy. curious to see if this was a disaffected student. Was this the first week of school in GA or did school start in August?
