Gabby's father and stepfather spoke at her memorial service. Joseph Petito says he wants the world to be inspired by Gabby. “If there is a trip you want to take – do it now while you have the time." "If there is a relationship that might not be the best for you – leave it now.”

Lines of mourners form for Gabby Petito funeral home viewing

HOLBROOK, N.Y.
– Mourners began arriving at a Long Island funeral home viewing on Sunday for Gabby Petito, whose death on a cross-country trip has sparked a manhunt for her boyfriend.

A line had formed outside the funeral home in Holbrook, about 35 miles (56 kilometers) east of New York City, by noon, and groups of firefighters were seen filing past. A fire truck sat on each side of the building, each with its ladder raised.

Across the street from the funeral home, a chain link fence was adorned with posters featuring Petito's image and messages such as, “She touched the world.”

Petito was reported missing Sept. 11 by her parents after she didn’t respond to calls and texts for several days while she and Brian Laundrie visited parks in the West.

Her body was discovered last Sunday in a remote area in northwestern Wyoming. Laundrie and Petito grew up on Long Island but in recent years moved to Florida.

Sunday’s viewing is in Holbrook, about

Petito's death has been classified as homicide, meaning she was killed by another person, but medical examiners in Wyoming haven't disclosed how she died pending further autopsy results.

Gabby Petito funeral: Father's eulogy urges people not to be sad
[...]

Joseph Petito stood in front of flowers and photos of his daughter in what had to be the most challenging moment of his life.

"I don't want you guys to be sad, to be honest with you," he said at her funeral Sunday. "Gabby did not live that way."

[...]

Standing next to Petito was Gabby's stepfather, Jim Schmidt.

Schmidt said he's had to plan funerals before, but not one of them could have prepared him for what he had to do Sunday.

FBI takes items to test, match Brian Laundrie's DNA, family attorney says
The FBI showed up at the home of Brian Laundrie's parents Sunday to request personal items they could test and match for DNA, according to the Laundrie family attorney. It's unclear what prompted the request, on the eighth day of the search for Gabby Petito's fiancé.

According to reporting by Jodi Goldberg with FOX 5 New York, "Brian’s parents provided the FBI with what they could."

Search crews returned to Carlton Reserve in Sarasota County Sunday.

While nothing of note has been reported from yesterday’s search, investigators now have an extra hand in their manhunt. Dog the Bounty Hunter paid a visit to the Laundrie family home in North Port but received no answer.
