As authorities continue to search for Gabby Petito's fiancé, Brian Laundrie, the FBI has asked for items that might have his DNA, the Laundries' family lawyer said.

During the FBI's visit to the family home, "The FBI requested some personal items belonging to Brian Laundrie to assist them with DNA matching and Brian's parents provided the FBI with what they could," the Laundries' lawyer, Steven Bertolino said to multiple news outlets.

The parents of Gabby Petito's fiancé "provided the FBI with what they could," his family's attorney said.

The FBI on Sunday took personal items belonging to Brian Laundrie in hopes of building a DNA profile of Gabby Petito's missing fiancé, according to his family's attorney.

Investigators visited the North Port, Florida, home of Laundrie's parents, who cooperated with agents, Steve Bertolino said in a statement to NBC News.

EXCLUSIVE: Duane "Dog the Bounty Hunter" Chapman is investigating a tip that alleges Brian Laundrie, the fugitive fiancé of Gabby Petito, went into a Florida campground 75 miles away with his parents in early September — but only two of them were seen leaving.

Chapman announced Saturday he was entering the search for Laundrie, and tips quickly poured in. He told Fox News he received a tip on Monday that Laundrie’s parents spent the night in Fort De Soto Park with their son twice in early September from Sept. 1-3 and Sept. 6-8.

"They were registered, went through the gate. They’re on camera. They were here," he told Fox News exclusively on Monday evening.

He later added: "Allegedly, what we’re hearing, is two people left on the 8th. Three people came in on the 6th, and two people left on the 8th. I think he’s been here for sure."

Brian Laundrie's parents 'concerned' but 'do not know where Brian is,' family lawyer says

The parents of Brian Laundrie, the only person of interest named in the disappearance of Gabby Petito, say they do not know where their son is.

The lawyer for Chris and Roberta Laundrie released a statement Monday, possibly in an effort to quell claims they may know where he went.

Attorney Steven Bertolino said in the statement "Chris and Roberta Laundrie do not know where Brian is. They are concerned about Brian and hope the FBI can locate him. The speculation by the public and some in the press that the parents assisted Brian in leaving the family home or in avoiding arrest on a warrant that was issued after Brian had already been missing for several days is just wrong."

... They spoke to a person believed to be Cassie Laundrie outside of the home before being allowed to come in.

Cassie Laundrie lives in Lakewood Ranch, about 35 miles north of her parents' home in North Port.

As the two men entered Cassie’s home, the FBI was in the process of executing a warrant at her parents' home.
